    Is there a quick easy way to shred veggies for salad? I'm transitioning to a plant based diet, making a huge wicked salad every day ie shredded cabbage/kale/brussel sprouts, broccoli, kale but it takes forever, the kitchen is a mess and I'm shredding my knuckles as well. Is there a not-to-expensive contraption I can purchase? I'm using one of the fancy horizontal type shredders but it's still time-consuming. Thanks

      A food processor or Saladmaster machine works well.

    I have been following your advice and really enjoy it. Although I was wondering if any of the doctors you work with ever talk about what to do when one loses their period eating this way. I really don't think I am underweight, and not over exercising. Have any advice to get my hormones re balanced and regain my menses?

    • @CHEFAJ

      I would suggest you see a doctor as soon as possible.

      Celeste S , essential fat is important for estrogen production. You may have gotten a little bit too low on the fat portion of your diet. Try increasing that with a little more ground flax, chia, walnuts. Or maybe the other nuts too may help if the fat is omega 6 that you are low in. If your eating a lot of soy, try cutting that back because it can be interfering with your estrogen receptors too as soy estrogen like compounds simulate human estrogen but don't act the same. So fat and plant estrogen like compounds are the two most likely causes assuming you are not exercising too much or you are underweight which are the other causes. It is highly unlikely that you are low in protein.

      The Artificial Society Thank you for your thoughtful response. I will be implementing your suggestions and am confident my body will rebalance itself. Thank you :)

      Celeste S how are you making out? I did ask Pam Popper and her response was basically go consult someone that can properly help which I interpret as go see a doctor. So my suggestion may have validity but at the same time there are quite a few possibilities where a scientific approach based on full knowledge is the best strategy for accurately establishing the true cause. So a blood test, age, actual blood levels of nutrients, etc. would be a key part of that analysis that only a doctor can offer. But I did try to offer one actual cause possibility. Anyway, I hope you do well but it's just too limited as the absolute cause.

    Thanks for the video Chef AJ!
    Can you eat too many potatoes?
    When I cut up russet potatoes into fries sizes I tend to eat more than when I bake them whole, is there a reason for this?
    Is it because its slightly dehydrated and makes it more calorie dense?

    • @CHEFAJ
      @CHEFAJ  8 лет назад

      Are you putting seasoning on them? That could be the reason.

    • @CHEFAJ

      Depends what your goals are, if you are overweight, and how vulnerable you are to refined food addictions. Generally, the answer is no.
