Hi Shezad, I am someone who start listening to you during Covid back in 2020. Back then I was a typical youthia. Your podcasts helped me to understand and think from a different perspective. Now I am not a youthia. lol. Keep up the good work. God bless you.
This is by all accounts one of the best episodes of this podcast. Why? Perspective. It's fasi's view on the different subjects under discussion and how he sees things that makes him a interesting guest. I don't want to delve too much into it as I really wish all the people should listen to it. This episode will grow on you with time. It's like that underrated song in an album which nobody thinks will do well and goes on to become the signature tune of that act.
Thanks for doing this pod. Ive spent so much time growing up listening to the fasi zaka show on fm 91 and watching on the fringe on repeat. I love Fasi’s humor so much. Really would love that he does a podcast or some kind of show again. Big big fan.
Sir ji buht shukaria Fasi ko bulany k leye. 1st session se relate nhe kar paya kyoun ke main government school aur rural background se aata hon lekn bahd main buht maza aaya. Radio 1 pe show aata tha. He is a genius. Maza aa jata tha. Kamal tha. 🙏❤️
How is this podcast not public? Only 12 views? I just stumbled on this video while exploring your channel. Usually i get a notification or something. Great convo with Fasi.
I'm usually skeptical of your opinions and thought process Shehzad but this is one of the finest podcast in Pakistan's context. The Fasi Zaka Show was a huge part of me growing up and I genuinely feel that he needs to be a part of the online discourse in some form. Really loved the conversation, specially the music part.
Love it or hate it but Taylor swift is the greatest superstar of the present generation. She added a billion to american economy with her tour. Alone here in boston she performed 3 concerts consecutive days at Gillette stadium and all were sold out. The local hotels etc everything was sold out. 😂
Great start to the podcast and then from 35mins onwards it was all Hebrew for someone like me but I was really amazed by the knowledge of Fasi and SGS on music which makes me think again at 42 shall I start over once again like my previous attempts :) and try to grasp the wonders of music like these people have? Sounds impossible at the time. However, yet another great podcast, and this Fasi boy is amazing.
Shehzad I need to thank you SO… much for inviting Fasi Zaka on your podcast show. Him and Sajid Ghafoor had a huge influence on me growing up. Pink Floyd ko honorary mentions me hi daal daty… I thoroughly enjoyed this podcast.. ❤
I also liked Guns n roses' initial debut album " Appetite for destruction " more than their later albums. But sonically, I really liked U2 & Radiohead. 😅😅Anyway, it's an interesting discussion. Being a musician, I can totally understand what this man feels about bands. In the end, it's all subjective. As a musician, I like some of the most complex pieces of music composed by Allan Holdsworth or Chick Corea, Frank Zappa etc and on the other hand I also enjoy popular music like Queen, Michael Jackson, Whitney Huston ( her singing is not easy at all😅😅).
In the 1980 movie Karz Pran : Kaam kya karte ho? Rishi Kapoor : ji , main gaana gaata hoon Pran : Gaana toh main bhi bahut gaata hoon , kaam kya karte ho? 🤣🤣
Ahmed ali butt na hee aye😂😂😂 In 2006 I saw a mad whale dancing in creek club in the tightest clothes ever singing may rahoon ga hamesha In 2019 the same whale was criticizing mera jism meri marzi....
Great podcast. Loved listening to it. Grew up listening to Fasi Zaka on FM91, it used to be really fun listening to him and the gang. His iconic 'laugh' hasn't changed one bit 😅. 36:30 I think Fasi is referring to the Italian band "Maneskin", who are crazy good. 1:07:20 Jimmi Hendrix has a spiritual prodigy in the form of the the great John Frusciante, the soul of the Red Hot Chili Peppers, who has formulated his entire guitar playing on Jimmi Hendrix's stuff. 1:10:12 I guess Fasi is referring to the late Irish guitarist Gary Moore, the creator of "Still Got the Blues" an iconic instrumental song of all times.
Yeh Kiya na kaaam.... I was an avid viewer of On the Fringe back in the Indus Music days 2005-6... Fasi was doing podcasts long before they were a thing.. certainly he was ahead of his time...btw my favorite GnR song is estranged
All the rock stages in world , our Rock Bands Table exits in human recorded history love it man , thanks for this experience , specially my college times. love u bro
Fasi is so right on the Clapton music, technical wizardry and superficiality in any sphere of life that makes you look good BUT in the ultimate analysis there is no emotional connection or personal relatability or unadulterated meaning / essence so everything falls on its head eventually.
These guys never heard of Soundgarden, Alice In Chains, Stone Temple Pilots, Rage Against The Machine and Metallica. Radiohead is probably the greatest band of the last 30 years, but I guess to each his own. Foo Fighters and The Black Keys are other bands these guys didn’t mention and above all bands like The Kinks, Cream, Pink Floyd, T Rex, Iggy Pop and The Velvet Underground.
As someone who used to cover Muse, Radiohead and Maroon 5 in the same set with my band, I loved the little discussion on the 3. I'll just say that it's not entirely accurate to say Muse is "overproduced" at least considering the negative connotations of the term. The synthy, electronic aspect was always a mainstay of their sound even before a song like Madness - Bellamy had a Kaossilator in his guitar and Wolstenholme was literally the god of synth bass amongst the bass community. This electronic aspect automatically gives an air of "overproduced-ness", I guess.
Loved news, views and confused, Fasi’s newspaper columns, the music programme he did on Indus TV and now his social media content. Also Like the equation between the both of you. Maybe collaborate on a regular basis?
Good stuff. Fasi’s continued interest and incisive insight in Pak pop music of 1990s is a remarkable feat in itself. However, remarks on Clapton even if qualified do not stand any reasonable scrutiny. Clapton and Stones are the two biggest factors when it comes to shaping history of blues, rock and metal. American blues reached Clapton via Freddy King, and Stones via Muddy Waters. They were the primary musicians who reinterpreted blues and based rock firmly on blues guitar, thus getting rid of 50s popish danceable American rock. Case can be made to declare Cream as precursor of heavy metal. Statement by the host that Clapton must have been good to part of Cream is simply outrageous and ridiculous. Clapton was Cream. He was the most sought after guitarist in world and Hendrix, at that point in time, wanted to become a Clapton. It was under Clapton influence that Hendrix decided to make 3 member bands. Rejecting an artist after thorough analysis and examination is perfectly fine but subjectively negating one of the biggest stars of blues rock without being properly aware of his work and worth is uncalled for.
1:39:42 Lehri was not at all Chaplanesque, I think you are confusing him with Rangeela. Lehri was the King of deadpan, long before any other comedian in Indo Pak. Please watch him in Aangan Tehra or the stage program Silver Jubilee. I’m surprised Fasi didn’t correct you there.
I had high hopes with Fasi but this was a bit of disappointment. The overall audio level of the podcast is so low esp Fasi's voice is off quite alot. I know its hard to keep asking guest to adjust their mic but Shehzad you can double mic them (maybe a lav or even a wired clip-on mic would do) and overlay both tracks so when there's a drop from main mic it can pick from the other one, atleast there are will be no audio blindspots. Also, Fasi seemed too tired to even remember words/band names, I guess a good idea can be to get the guest some coffee so they wake up to a conversation.
How are your relations with Junaid Akram now ? I see a lot of your guest are common .Would love to see a podcast of both of you.And a podcast with Deepak perwani will also be interesting, considering both of your Sindhi connection.

For me Fasi is like a friend who you’ve never met but feels like you can talk to him about numerous things for hours.
