    My favourite part about Knothole Island remains that you get the option to resurrect your dog if you sacrifice a villager to it, rendering the second wish completely useless on subsequent playthroughs once you realise you can stave off having a family with unique NPCs like Alex or Lady Grey and that you can save your dog too. 😂
    And since building wealth isn’t THAT hard, not as easy as the joke of a system that was Fable 3’s economy but still, you can also get to 1 million on your own if you use the system right. So there’s also no reason to choose that option unless you’re a deliberately evil character. Maybe if it was ten million instead of one, there’d be more of a reason to be tempted by it but as it stands, not so much.
    So the only wish worth choosing is the first one to save everyone who died which, ironically, while intended to be selfless might be the most selfish one of all as you only end up doing it to earn the love of Albion’s people as you have nothing to gain choosing the other wishes with the way the world is set up. 😂

    • @curtispower3619

      Well.. The "Family" wish also has the extra cool benefit of resurrecting your sister.. Although you only get a note from her and never actually see her, which is a real shame. Would have been cooler if she came to live with you and your family if you had the space or something. Maybe she could show up in the castle once you purchased it, and you could talk to her and give her a room if you wanted to... That would have been cool..

    • @macaryl95
      @macaryl95 3 месяца назад +1

      Lady Grey is already so buggy I don't want to risk anything with her. I don't care about the people at the Spire I will never see. My sister matters more, and that's basically the same considering you never see her either. Plus one million coin is nothing once you own everything. So I always choose love. • @CalamityCallie
    @CalamityCallie 10 месяцев назад +28

    This is gonna sound so weird but my favorite part of See the Future specifically was all the hidden easter eggs. There's a whole puzzle to solve that's hinted at in a book in the snowglobe and requires exploring both the snowglobe and the skull and while the reward isn't anything special its still just a really cool journey to follow. Also there's like 9 or 10 hidden dyes between the areas, and the hidden teddy bears in the colosseum. Anyway yeah, the quests are mediocre but I'm really nostalgic for the collectibles and easter eggs

  • @AndrewStonerock
    @AndrewStonerock 10 месяцев назад +75

    The snow globe is oakvale btw. You're freeing the souls of those trapped by shadows when Reaver sold the town for eternal youth. Reaver is from oakvale btw. I know our player character is a descendant of the one from the first game, but I don't know about the other heroes in the game. Also, fable 2: game of the year edition came with all the dlc already installed. Hell, I had it on disc and didn't even know it was dlc.

    • @Longshanks1690
      @Longshanks1690 10 месяцев назад

      That’s a stretch.
      It’s never stated anywhere that the town is supposed to be Oakvale, and there’s no reason to suppose it is. It looks like Oakvale because the devs were lazy and just reused the assets of the town rather than building a whole new one just for this side quest lol.

    • @michaelhodges8590
      @michaelhodges8590 10 месяцев назад +23

      @@Longshanks1690It has the same layout of the town circle, well, shadow court and bridge
      It’s no stretch as it’s clearly supposed to be a pre Court version of Oakvale matching the Shadowmarsh version found in Fable 2 proper

    • @Longshanks1690
      @Longshanks1690 10 месяцев назад

      @@michaelhodges8590 Yeah, cos they used the same assets, but there’s no hint that this is supposed to be the consequence of Reaver as why place them in a DLC when Reaver’s story is in the main quest? Like most players, I always played this as soon as I arrived in Bowerstone loooong before we even met Reaver, so what would be the point of letting the player release his victims before even meeting Reaver or the shadow court? It doesn’t make any sense.
      The quest doesn’t even make it ambiguous, they show who is responsible for this - the cultists from the temple of shadows. They’re the ones holding these souls hostage and it’s killing them that releases the people from their torment - and even then, I think that’s more laziness as I don’t think they’re meant to be associated with the Temple, just generic cultists they couldn’t be bothered doing new assets for. And even if we leave all that aside, the Shadow Court doesn’t trap souls, they just kill them. There’s no indication they want to perform the big succ to get their colour, that’s an entirely separate thing to what the cultists are doing.
      If this was Oakvale, you’d have references to Reaver or the Shadow Court from the villagers to make it clear that’s who they were. But as it is, I don’t think dev laziness and huge amounts of conjecture is enough to presuppose that’s what’s meant to be going on when these were clearly meant to be two separate plot lines with no crossover between them.

      I've still yet to test it out until I have enough stock of all the potions. I thought the "child" mentioned in the shrink potions' description was an exaggeration. I'm a big fan of both Fable and Halo, so having access to the pre order bonus of Master Cheif's armour and then completing the look with his assault rifle that you can obtain from the Knothole Island shop makes it worth it for me. Plus, unlike the sword, the assault rifle is actually a reasonably powerful weapon. It's also nice that they're fantasy themed too, so they don't just look silly and out of place... Well, not as silly or out of place as it could have if it's not your thing. So yeah, the items within the DLC are the best things about them. So i can in the very least appreciate that they didn't just try to sell us a weapon pack that just spontaniously appears in the world. They added a narrative to you recieving the items. Looking at it like that definately makes me appreciate them more.

    As I said last time, what Fable 2 has over 3 is the unique items in its DLC. I mostly used the weapons and armour from Knothole Island whenever I find them as they’re some of the coolest bits in the game, especially from Jessica’s Shop. The same goes for the Husky potion to make your dog an even gooder boi. It all enhances the base gameplay and makes these packs worth playing.
    The stories attached? Less so. Murgo’s cursed relic quests especially are a boring chore to slog through, the areas aren’t that well designed - often using the same assets from the base game - the tasks are repetitive and there’s nothing that makes you want to return to those worlds after the quests are done. The same is true of Knothole Island where the quest areas are more unique in their design, but the same feeling of going through a slog to get the weather tokens remains weighing heavily on your mind. You’ll likely never venture outside the town on Knothole Island once you’ve unlocked all four weathers, but the ability to change the weather at will is a very cool idea ngl. Likewise, See The Future is made worth it with the final prophecy from Theresa foreshadowing Fable 3, and giving you the King outfit.
    So are the DLCs worth it? Overall, I’d say yes, the items and some of the bits of worldbuilding you get from them are worth playing through to get. But is a lot of it still half assed and could have been done much better to make it a better experience overall? Also a thousand times yes.

    What i liked about fable 1/2 and their respective dlc was that the legendary weapons were actually legendary and had a unique look to them. The idea of weapons evolving based on how we play sounds cool for fable 3 but when all the legendary weapons are randomized and you can only get a finite number of them in a single playthrough and you can't farm them that sucks the fun out of earning or trying to get legendaries. When you finally do get avo's lamentation or some other cool weapon and it looks identical to your previous weapons with no unique design or effect it pales in comparision to previous titles.
    Its even worse when you look at how large amounts of weapons in fable 1 and 2 are tied to unique quests or puzzles like red dragon and the shooting range, katana for garths tower or Skorms bow and the temple of shadows. All fable 3 had was the gargoyles and you just got a generic gun from what i remember.
    Small things like this make games so much more enjoyable and immerse us in the world, it would be like if fallout didn't have unique weapons that had a cool look and effect that was tied to the lore of the weapon. Instead they were replaced with generic weapons that could drop with effects instead or a fromsoft game that didn't have the moonlight greatsword or unique weapons in general.

    My only real criticism is the will powers should have all been red in Oakvale, to match the colouration of strength and skill. It honestly really bothers me, even. Will is red, the shadows are red, make the abilities red oh my god. Oh yeah, and those shadows are huge bullet sponges even when using the correct attacks. The red shadows nearly knocked me out a few times, whereas the rest of the game is easy as piss.

    The one thing fable 2 really missed was actually Boss fights Like the Scorpion, kraken, Dragon.
    I was so disapointed when the Game was over and the biggest enemy was a Troll which was a random enemy in fable 1.

    Look up "Hal's outfit" and weapons after, you missed some top notch crossover material (Edit: this apparently comes not in a DLC but in the special edition of the game, sad but true. The best [looking] armor and weapons in the game locked behind a limited time sale)

    While I understand your criticism for knothole island. I quite enjoyed it, but I do feel my issues are partly nitpicks. Like how the island doesn’t have a more neutral state with weather changes until you get called back to the island. Like bringing the sun would make it look like a summer island until you get called back and oh noes, drought. That and 10k when you are probably richer then the chieftan literally sucks ass.

    ai for real tho how is fable 2 netter then fable 1? maybe in the economie i guess but i mean the combat and story i dont think you can really agrue for. but please i wanna hear from the mafia, why you guys think 2 is better then 1?

  • @thebr3310

    I actually liked all the Fable games. It never really made sense that you say the combat doesn’t matter in 3. You never really die in two either. You just get back up with a scar on yourself. You can actually die in Fable 1 but I never had an issue with dying in Fable 2

    Fable Anniversary will always be my favorite. Fable 2 is second. 3 to me isn't even considered canon, much less, Fable: The Journey. It is a duology of great games. Just like the Hero bloodline of William Black in lore got progressively weaker, so did the games.
    With that said, however, I am excited about Fable (Playground Games) in 2024 or 2025. I hope it is more akin to Fable Anniversary. Bring back the spells, high fantasy feel, fairytale book aesthetic, tudor houses and businesses, armor, stats, and enemies like the bandits, Hobbes, Balverines, Nymphs, Heroes, and Jack of Blades. Or better, the entire Court itself.

  • @pezzmp05

    The DLCs aren't that great because these games came out before people spent money on DLCs to get the rest of the game they should have gotten on release. When these games were released you had a full game experience on release, and DLCs were just extras and addons. That's why "quality" isn't there, because it legitimately doesn't matter.
