Whoever narrates this should definitely be a DnD dungeon master

I hope that is a compliment?

I have the Sportman Series 7, my only complaint is the ability to hold low temps, anything at 225 or lower gives me a big temp swing, it goes from 180 to 265 back and forth all the time. Cooking higher than that and it holds the temp like a champ.

I have not had that issue with mine but I have had other pellet grills that wander at low temps. The way I would fix them is by adding mass to the chamber. A large water tray or even a large cast iron pan would even out the spikes. I would also give Pit Boss customer service a call for there maybe a app or firmware update that might help.

@@learntobbq Thank you for the advice. I tried a lot of things including what you mentioned and still have the same issue, will definitely call Pit Boss.

I have one also. The temp would be all over the place. I replaced the control panel and it now holds a +/- 10 degrees no matter the temp setting. But WHY do they put the control panel at the bottom? Having drippings from meat drop on the control panel is what I believe caused my problem

I know in the pro line they moved the control panel over to a table on the side of the smoker. I know it requires a lot of cleaning but that seems to be the case with almost all smokers.

@@learntobbq True that. I try to be really careful now and keep my panel clean while cooking. They obviously did not consult a “backyard “ pit master when they came out with their initial models.

Had one: 1. didn’t hold steady temp. 2. Too much smoke made meat sooting tasting. 3. Kept spiking temp. 4. Finiky about how it was started (confirmed with PitBoss). 5. Racks weren’t very sturdy. Three other friends had same complaints.

Did your unit have the bluetooth/WiFi contoller? I heard they had issues with older controllers. I have the Sportsmen Series 7 with the newer bluetooth/WiFi controller and it can wander plus or minus 5 degrees but for a pellet based smoker that actually is pretty good.

@@crazycdn8327 I got the Sportsman Series 7 Vertical Smoker about two months ago. So far, I am pretty happy with it, but it does require constant cleaning.

Had one for 8 years that was used weekly….no issues with it ever deviating temp, or too much smoke.
      Always made great food.

I have one and it’s been nothing but junk. Still under warranty and PitBoss has been good with sending parts under warranty but guess what? A smoker fails when you have a group of people expecting to eat dinner. Three times this summer I’ve had to apologize to my friends and family and order pizza. One more failure and mine is going to the junkyard.
