I think this is an example of why rule 0 conversation is needed: the Omnath and Purphoros decks were way too strong for Khalia and Ghalta to be at the same table. What we saw was basically a 1 vs 1 for the first couple of turns, then the deck who ramped faster just ran away without anyone ever having half a chance to fight back: it was like bringing a gun to a fist fight.

I like it a LOT that you turned from the Command Zone style (not saying it's bad, it's just too ... polished and adverstising for my taste) and went with the tabletalk without interviews. I love your content. It's honest.

@@emilysmith2965 Yeaah, that's why I tried to get my group at a SLIGHTLY higher power level at one point; so more ruthless strategies could be used and not totally devastate the table...but it backfired. They started putting MONEY money into their decks (a $900 Breya, 1.5k Kaalia and a 2.3k Atraxa ), and then it all went downhill for our kitchen table from there 😞

It's a good winning tactic, but it's not very viewer friendly. When watching Commander gameplay videoes online, i think most of us want exciting and unpredictable games, and while i understand you probably don't want to mimic Gameknights too much, my humble suggestion would be to let all the players get a little more breathing room
I think the gameplay was legitimate but agree that it wasn't the best viewer experience. maybe play 2 or 3 games and then edit and upload the one that was the most exciting

Great game! It clearly demonstrates how a deck with multiple threats is better than a deck with just one threat. What single card could be killed in the Omnath deck to stop it? Killing Omnath wasn't enough. All his board should have be killed to stop him.
This was a fun game but I am very glad that you decided not to keep the interviews in the new episodes. I like the format of your edh show and that you're not trying to be like anybody else. I really hope we get to see the QftJL crew again in a future episode.

Crew is an ability that taps an untapped creature but doesn't use the tap symbol, so it gets around summoning sickness. There's a few ways to ignore summoning sickness, outside of haste, and vehicles are one of them. Good question though, know some long time players that don't know that one :)
He's able to tap the hippo because it's the vehicle's ability that targets it. The vehicle says to tap an untapped creature, it doesn't care about whether or not the creature has summoning sickness.
Of course anyone has different tastes and that's totally alright, but which part did you find entertaining? The game was over around the 14 minute mark, then it was pretty much solitaire and Omnath deck-tech, with the other 3 players looking miserable while waiting for their certain doom.
Normally I don't mind that much if one player is far ahead and closes out the game. But those suboptimal plays by the Omnath player....man, those hurt.... Edit: No hate against Quest for the Janklord. Never heard of them before, and they seem like good, nice guys. But I didn't see any jank. Except from Mitch, ironically^^
He died when the Brontodon was on the stack not on the field. Also Omnath killed him, not the surge. Omnath does 3 for every Elemental that dies, which is why Joe sacced 4 in response to the cast of the Brontodon. The Surge did all the damage on ETB of creatures. Joe had several ways to kill everyone. The game was already over long before the Brontodon cast.

Yeah, dont think this was evenly matched at all. Land based decks just seem to get stuff out a lot quicker than other types of decks.
Well, the solution to that is allowing land destruction and most casual EDH groups throw fits about it… so have fun never being able to stop big mana
