What? The cigarette is the main cause, the BEA said that on its final report. The egyptian investigators didn't publish their final report yet
@@gonzalez_martin The report isn't even public, it was just a leak. It isn't official and there are holes in the theory, so electrical fire is still a possibility.

These crash animations have improved dramatically! Not only with the look, but the accuracy too!
Not super accurate but yeah, it’s very detailed and realistic. In season 23, ACI’s animations seem to have improved in terms of realism.

For anyone wondering why the fire dissappears sometimes, it's because some of the animation is shown here is before they reveal a fire brought it down.

@@mi___The oxygen mask was leaking oxygen at that time of the accident, since few days ago the maintenance worker left it in emergency mode. One of the pilots was possibly smoking, and his cigarette ignited the leaking oxygen. (Egyptair at that time actually allowed their pilots to smoke in the cockpits, but now not anymore.)
The truth was hidden by Egypt for 6 years before being discovered by the French investigators.
This would be a very interesting episode to watch. The Egyptian investigators knew why the fire started but never publicly explained about it. This prompted the French investigators to investigate this accident by themselves.
Btw, the cockpit interior scene is amazing.

@@LUOLMO most people said the theory with the cigarette was just a rumor and that a spark caused the fire more like Swiss air 111🤷🏽♂️

0:49 When I saw the plane like so, I knew that they could only be one outcome. Even had any pilots, experienced or not, managed to be on final approach on an airport with fire literally coming out of the plane like that, a crash would have been inevitable. RIP to all 66 people on board.

@@atoll5944 i was watch this episode, so maybe it can help you, the footage at 0:59 is used in episode Mystery Over Mediterranean at minute 11. And footage at 0:56 used in last minute of episode. So that why in last minute of video there are no fire in outside of cockpit

The accident was similar to that of Swissair Flight 111 where a fire started in the cabin and the plane crashed into the sea
The differemt is THE CABIN IS LITTERALY ON FIRE
I had just graduated from high school when this crash happened- I remember it not being in the media at all. I wish I could find where to watch season 23.
It was quite a relevant news at that time. I remember how often it showed up on TVs in mid-2016.
We can only wish those people are still at peace soaring above a sea of stars, protected from their brutal fate, and they just joined seamlessly into heaven without any pain

I hope this is not as bad as the last aircraft who experience a fire in the cockpit who was bound for Switzerland
It was worse. Swissair 111 had a fire behind the crew, as FO Luv was alive at the time of impact. The crew here burned alive before the crash.
Since this crash involved an Egyptian airline they wanted to make the crash look like flash air 604

Cause: In-flight fire most likely caused by F.O's cigarette that ignited a leaking oxigen mask causing an unstopable cockpit fire that consumed the cockpit, disabeling flight controls and captain's access to the control panel. All 56 passengers and 10 crew members died on board.

@@PixelTrain1This is something we cannot really explain. We have strange obsession of seeing a plane coming down, disintegrating, exploding or catching on fire, or impacting the terrain/water. We love to see this kind of stuff, while we do not love people dying or suffering.

Imagine being suffocated and at the same time being burnt alive.. That is too painful to imagine.
EgyptAir, at that time, allowed their pilots to smoke in the cockpits, but prohibited the passengers from smoking anywhere on their planes. The cockpits of their planes were equipped with ashtrays for cigarettes.

@@AurelienBTC2937 you are correct the pilot was smoking a cigarette and the oxygen mask was on so the oxygen from the mask lit the cigarette on fire and then cause a deadly fire and disabled flight controls

@@rizkytheaviator5324The cigarette theory is still likely. The maintenance workers set the oxygen mask in the cockpit in Emergency Mode, causing the oxygen to leak. They did not turn it back off and the oxygen had been leaking until when this accident took place. This aircraft had ashtray in the cockpit; Egyptair, at that time, allowed their pilots to smoke in the cockpits.

i mean smoking in the cabin is kinda fine if extinguished properly. We know from the 50 years or so of smoking allowed in flight

That smoke in the cockpit by a Smoking of the Pilot's Cigarette. You seen this is terrifying but in Realistic VFX Fire in Mayday this is the scene, It was a pilot's cigarette, seen 0:45 on the videoclip (No smoking for pilots in prohibited by the law, you could get arrested by police and authorities) This is terrifying.

On May 19th 2016 egypt air 804 was on its way from charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris France to Cario Airport in cario egypt the plane was carrying 56 passengers and 10 crew about 3 hours and 25 minutes into the flight a deadly fire broke out in the cockpit due to the captain smoking which was ignited by some oxygen leaking from one of the pilots mask the fire which disabled all flight controls and the plane crashed. All 56 passengers and 10 crew perished. So the moral of the story is don't smoking a cigarette on a airplane.

@@EmeryE2Yeah Egyptair at that time allowed this. After the Egyptian investigators determined the cause of the fire, Egyptair prohibited anybody, including pilots, from smoking on any of their planes.
