    All muscles have a theoretical limit to their force production in relation to cross sectional area which is based on the physical parameters of the sarcomere, the contractile unit of muscle. The contractile strength of sarcomeres vary between species because some species have longer sarcomeres, which in turn have more overlapping actin and myosin, which in turn generates more force in relation to the csa. Crustaceans have longer sarcomeres than humans, and their muscles can therefore generate proportionally more force for a given size, in some cases almost twice as much as human muscle of equal size. Based on his strength, and his performance on the shield carry, I propose that Hooper is in fact a crustacean.

    Mitch is just being smart and playing by the rules using a split jerk technique. While it’s legal why wouldn’t he do it like this. He didn’t write the rules of strongman. However I do think at some point the rules will change to say that this is a different lift to axel press, similar to how sumo and conventional deadlift are different. Until then let’s see how far Mitch can push this record.👍

    • @createachanneltopost
      @createachanneltopost 5 месяцев назад +17

      Strongman isn't like that. It's only about getting the weight over your head, however you choose to do that. It's more comparable to hitching on a deadlift.

    • @sagebauer1077
      @sagebauer1077 5 месяцев назад +17

      Idk man. Sumo and convential feel different to me because the end position is different. With a split jerk, its not like you stop the lift with your legs apart, you still have to stand up straight and end up in the exact same position. I dont think strongman should ban anything between the start & end position unless its super dangerous ( ie log on head)

    Are you able to do a video on the aspect of visualization in strength sports? Someone with your background as a trainer could probably talk about it at length.
    How much does the mind body connection matter when lifting weights and to what extent can it be used to improve performance.
    We all know about the lady lifting the car in a life or death situation. From what I understand, the body essentially puts mental barriers in place to avoid injury.
    How far can those lines be pushed. Can you get to a place where you can actively utilize that little bit of extra gas in the tank without hurting yourself.
    Is there any way to strengthen your central nervous system.

      I mean, they probably should? The 217kg world record is for the axle clean and press. Not the axle clean and jerk.

      @@mitchellhooperstrongmandepends how many other switch over to the split side. And how many others whine about it being unfair, even though they could do it themselves

      I don’t think they’ll ban the split jerk it looks tough enough, but they may be strict with a belt clean, looking at the 211kg you hit in this training video the clean could’ve been disallowed? I’m not a judge but it did hit your belt first. Either way such an incredible axle press!

      @Andy.g79 afaik it can hit your belt, but not *rest* on the belt. So as long as you quickly pop it off its okay.

    I noticed that when you moved closer to the wall behind you, your split squat suffered. When you moved forward on the platform away from the wall it gave you room and your splits looked great.

    All the other athletes need to up their game otherwise Mitchell will dominate if he stay injury free(I think he will be most of the time based on his knowledge). Smartest guy I have ever seen when it comes to all aspects of strength training. Confident, cool headed and still pretty young. I can only see a handful of guys who might be able to keep up with Mitch
