dude, you're actually the best. explained organic chemistry in less than an hour, when my teacher's been trying for months. also, everyone's got (arguably better) mnemonics, but for some reason, this helps me a lot: methheads (methane) eat (ethane) pretty (propane) badly (butane). just easier because i try to think about breaking bad, HAH
there is a formula for complete combustion reaction of alkanes: CnH2n+2 + (3n+1)÷2 = nCO2 + (n+1)H2O, where n is the number of carbon this makes it easier if you are unable to balance the eq
Thank u!!! It was so useful!! I am actually doing Cambridge GCE O level but it is actually the same as GCSE!!! Thank u so much for ur lecture, my teachers took 3 weeks to explain Organic Chemistry but you taught everything within few hours and they are pretty detailed, I am just so impressed 😱😱 And you are a better science teacher than my school teachers, they arent experienced and they dont give lectures in English. I am a foriegner and it is really hard for me to understand their lectures as well. I have CAIEs after 6 months. Thank u so much!!!✨
incomplete combustion is when there's not enough oxgyen in the air so the products would be carbon monoxide + water. and it means that the alkenes reacts with alkenes

Monkeys (methane)
Eat (ethane)
Peanut (propane)
Butter (butane)
Hope this helps x
I wish this man was my teacher because he explains stuff that I couldn't understand at school after 5 lessons on it!
IKRRR
Yeah unfortunately
If someone needs help memorizing the names I think of
M- men methane
E-eat ethane
P-proper propane
B-burgers butane

THIS IS SO EASY TO UNDERSTAND!!!! THANK YOU SO MUCH
THANK YOU NEL FOR WATCHING AND COMMENTING 😊
@@Cognitoedu uk i watched most of your videos and giving my gcse exams now.
Thanks for your help❤️
great video but you should have included incomplete combustion as well
may God bless ur soul😭
i swear this guy is such a good person
this video was so helpful
Really appreciate that - thank you!
I love your videos, they really help a lot.

Me after hours of organic chemistry with chem teacher: ok i sort of get it
Me after a few Cognito videos: OMG this is so simple
Relatable 😂
Thank you. I'm helping my daughter with her class. I wish that I had taken Organic Chemistry before I had taken a class on polymers
you are a w teacher dude
This was gooooooooooooood.
U R A MASTERPIECE

So...can any body help me to write the complete combustion of the alkane C5H14, without balance
Dont alkanes have the formula of CnH(2n+2)? 5x2+2 doesnt= 14

thank you so much iim studying for my science test hehe

where is the incomplete combustion part
Incomplete combustion is where there isnt enough oxygen in the air so the prooducts would be carbon monoxide + water or + carbon dioxide i think
Enigma no the products are CO and H2O
@@ainelahiauroni8913 I did say that...
Enigma yea you weren’t sure about the CO2 part so i let you know
