@@julesjames593 I think he might have gone by initials, with Dan as a natural nickname. There was also Dan River Mills. Over time, Danville went downhill. When I worked in the Longworth Bldg., the office I worked in was in between the front office and the back office of Rep. Daniel, so I was talking with his people constantly.
Place is a dump. Take that drone a mile from there in any direction and it turns into a third-world town. What you are seeing is a postage stamp sized snippet of a truly depressed town. I wish I had never moved here
@@robertfeinberg748 I think you're referring to the area just west of the fountain. It is fallow, and it's ugly. Just west of that is the old White Building that Dan River Mills operated. People think it looks cool, but it's an eyesore and an embarrassment in reality. I don't know if you've ever seen the fountain, but it's not as big and beautiful as the video tries to portray. It's worth about two minutes of a visitor's time. The mountain bike trails are very nice. That is one of the great things about Danville. The Riverwalk Trail is also very nice (if the river wouldn't keep washing it away due to flooding)
When I recorded this video my drone was new and it was intended to be a test flight. I wish I would of recorded more of the city and actually edited the video more. I do not live in Danville but would like to come back to record more of the area. Thanks for watching!
Love my hometown. Thanks for sharing.
Lived in Danville for 3yrs when I was 8to11 yrs old,,,43 yrs ago and swear not much looks change. My grandmother's hometown
I used to know the staff of the congressman from there, who was Dan Daniel from Danville.
Actual first name: "Wilbur".

Anything else downtown beside the fountain? lol
@@robertfeinberg748 Honestly? No
If you were to measure "Downtown", you would do it in square feet, not square miles 😂
@@mustardketchup Evidently. It looked like an area nearby was fallow. So the title should have referred to the fountain, not to the downtown.

This is awesome !
Thank you for the video but why didn't you continue up Main Street to show the rest of Danville's downtown?

@@nathankendrick3460 Since you don't live in Danville, what made you decide to do a video there?
One Observer I am from Danville and moved away. I was there to visit family.
Considering visiting Averett University with my daughter, I’m very concern now after reading these comments
