Lee Kwang Il (the loan shark guy) turnaround was the best redemption act I have ever witnessed in any show. His character was so highly complex, and I appreciate him even more in rewatching this show. For those commenting they didn't like the ending because it wasn't happy, I am glad you are disappointed because there would be nothing worse than ending this show with a platonic union between Ji An and Dong Hoon. This show has the BEST ENDING ever, and feeling happy is there but more importantly, SATISFIED and feel complete. That is to say, it feels much much much more than just happy.

That funeral scene gets me choked up even now. The fact she is so vulnerable, calling her halmuhni... so innocently like a child she was. It all came loose, and its so heart breaking to see her signal to her, even if she is dead. It just gets me every time...

This last episode was painful but happy. The part at the morgue when she said goodbye to her grandma was quite hard to watch, but very touching. The funeral part was a great show of empathy by Dong Hoon's brother showing that having a lot of money doesn't always equal happiness, but the fact that he did a good deed made him feel the happiest he's ever been.
I wonder what happened with Kwang Il after he escaped the police and sent the flash drives. It's brief and not talked about much, but it goes to show that people are capable of changing and I wished that he and Ji An reconciled in some way. It's ironic that the person that hated Ji An the most is the one responsible for saving her from being prosecuted. He could have threw away all of the recordings as well, but he didn't and did the right thing because he forgave her and Ji An never actually blamed him for his abusive treatment of her because of their childhood history. She just let him take his anger out on her without really saying a word, but he was finally able to let go of the past at the end.
Overall, I enjoyed recapping the drama again and it's something that everyone should watch since it will teach you how to be a better human being.

I just finished May I Help You and that is a truly special drama. A warning if you watch it, the show deals with death and this includes children. The female lead (Hyeri) is a funeral director that speaks to the spirits and helps them with their last wishes.

This drama can make me a bit more better adult in a special way. Lovely reaction as usual and I will be waiting for your other reactions. If your bucket list is not overflowing, I would suggest the 2 other drama from the same screenplay writer (is a lady) to add to it. 💙, peace and 'fighting' 🙂

There's a lot to say that I probably won't be able to put into words, but I can try starting with the smallest things.
Finally, in an unexpected way, that sort of redemption or at least a beginning of redemption came for Kwang-il as he decided to help Ji-an with the recordings. It all started when he saw Ji-an laughing at the bar with Dong-hoon. Slowly, the memories and feelings he had for her that he had buried in anger and hatred for what she had done to her father surfaced. While she doesn't blot out her sins, she shows how a person can redeem himself and gives hope that he can change and become a better man than he was. It's a nice message and lends complexity to the character of him paying perhaps little screen time on screen, where his story could have been better explained. And he wouldn't have spoiled a final confrontation with Ji-an, but in the end that's okay, the message still got through to us viewers.
I suspected that Ki-hoon and Yoo Ra's romance would not last: inevitably, as her career progressed, Ki-hoon felt the weight of collective judgment: a fast-rising actress who is with a cleaner . The scene at the funeral when Dong-hoon doesn't answer about what her brother does for a living or how Yoo Ra justified her job as temporary made him feel a little frustrated. It is however interesting that this experience, especially after seeing Yoo Ra's film, seeing how she grew up and became a good actress, spurred him to try again to get back into the world of cinema by writing a new screenplay (note the title "Hongae Hill" which mimics that of the better known "Notting Hill" with Julia Roberts). In my head, counting that Yoo Ra hasn't stopped looking for him, I like to think that Ki-hoon's return to the cinema can bring them together to continue their bizarre love story. I want to believe that.
The funeral scene contains many different things: Sang-hoon has somehow found the meaning of life when he decided to finance all the funeral services of Ji-an's grandmother, in which he understands that happiness is not in accumulating money as he did before, but to spend it on the right things, good things and this gesture made him really happy. Ji-an has gone from being an outcast, with a life on the edge of survival, to being an integral part of the community in her neighborhood. In a certain sense, her grandmother's funeral also sanctions the death of the old Ji-an in favor of a new one, a person who embraces life, who does not close herself off within walls, who socializes and thrives in interpersonal relationships: in practice she lives finally a real life. When Choon-dae pays his respects to Ji-an's grandmother and sees all the people who have come, he is the first to realize the change that has taken place in his life and it is beautiful.
There is a decidedly explanatory exchange that gives meaning to all the work we have seen: Dong-hoon admits that before meeting her he was on the verge of dying, oppressed by unhappiness and depression; on the other hand, Ji-an replies that she only really began to live when she began to know him. There is everything in this, two souls on the edge, two people trapped in despair and unhappiness who have found each other and helped each other out and live a better life.
The scene of Dong-hoon in tears is so powerful and explanatory that no captions are needed: years of repression of feelings and emotions that explode all together after this incredible story: a real nervous and emotional breakdown. A necessary step for the birth of the new self, finally unlocked and ready to take hold of one's life. And indeed, in the end, we both find them fulfilled, happy, sociable, smiling sincerely and having real relationships with their colleagues. Their reunion is serene and that is enough to close this beautiful drama.
There would be much more to say, but I don't think I'm qualified to go into more detailed analyses, I'll limit myself to saying that it has been a remarkable journey, a universal story that touches each of us in a different way and leaves no one indifferent.
Off-topic: albeit late, I wish you, your family and your friends, a merry Christmas, which I hope at this point you will have spent well, a good Saint Stephen's Day (which I guess is celebrated only in my country December 26th, but anyhow) and happy new year.

Hi, yes the age gap is really big I think that is why it's titled My Mister as in Ahjussi in korean. Although, I don't actually ship them here :)) I stated that on my remarks after watching. He's just an adult who is so nice to Ji-an here and her perspective about adults changed ^^

Next Station : Moon Lover (Must see.)
And this is my recommend underrate k-drama list (All good, I'm confirm) In case you want.
    - Search : WWW > Girls power concept. (Life)
    - Idol : The Coup > Unsuccess Idol concept. (Drama)
    - Work Later, Drink Now > Drunkard Girls Concept. (Mostly comedy but drama hit hard too)
