Robert newton was the greatest actor to portray a pirate !!
Oh I so love movies of this era!! I could watch them 24 seven 365
Robert Newton was born in shaftesbury,Dorset, England. There is a statue of him in the village. He will forever be long john silver and black beard the pirate. Brilliant he was.
What does that statue look like? I am a big fan of Robert Newton.
Where is Arthur Teach (sic) born? Buried?
I always like pirate movies, because they're arrr rated.
Robert Newton was the best movie Pirate of all time !
Every second full of drama, thrill, romance. No one can improve on it and Robert Newton.
Robert Newton played both Blackbeard and Long John Silver he really is great as a pirate actor
He’s the origin of the “pirate voice”.
@@doopdoopdopdop7424 did not know that thanks
Silver and Blackbeard are essentially the same character; Stevenson wrote that Silver had sailed with Blackbeard, and even gave some of Silver's crew the names of Blackbeard's men - Israel Hands, for one.
He even played Bill Sykes in Oliver Twist!
Har harrr .... Jim lad. Shiver me timbers 😂
Delightful! Robert Newton - the crazy pirate icon who steals the show of course - and a bouquet of actors like Linda Darnell, William Bendix, Richard Egan etc. telling a fabulous, classic swashbuckle story! Thank you!
Bouquet. Nice touch
Linda Darnell brought me here.
❤
@@JohnnycdrumsShe died in a house fire in 1965.
@@Phooie There now is a new pirate metal band that consist of 5 stunning beautiful women. Called Pirate Queen. Check out their first video here: ruclips.net/video/wdI388LjgnI/видео.htmlsi=ngaN0gPU04AhLC07
Whoever played Blackbeard did an amazing job. Great pirate movie so if you like pirate movies, young ,famous later actors and outstanding performances then watch this movie. Haha what a treat.
Robert Newton played Blackbeard. He also played Long John Silver in the 1950 adaptation of Treasure Island.
Robert Newton makes the best pirate
C. Laughton, W. Matthau...One-Eyed Willy...all made convincing pirates too :)
Yes je does!
You're right hands down
"I left him hangin' round" . Best one liner in any movie!!!!!!!!!

I don't know...th line in th Kevin Cosner Elliott Ness movie when he was asked where Frank Netti was (court scene), he said "He's in th car." after Ness had just thrown him off th roof & Netti landed on a car. I chuckled.
Another one...snakes, why'd it hav to b snakes
Robert Newton , one of the greats .
Love how her hair and makeup is always as fresh as a summers day
She was so stunning the dirt just wouldn't stick!
😂😂@@anguss6485
You mean she gets wet all over on purpose? 😂 God Blackbeard must have stunk!
ROBERT NEWTON IS AWESOME ! GREAT MOVIE ! THANK YOU ! FOR SHOWING THIS GEM !
I'm 52 & watched this as a kid. Robert Newton was brilliant in it. Thanks for posting
"See this here neck, there's a bullet in it, get it out". Sawbones proceeds to dig into his flesh with a filthy knife. They don't make 'em like that anymore
Arrrrr! You be right, matey.
my firiend she picked her skin to pierce a blister, she went to the hospital a week later, she couldn’t move her arm, she was on anti biotics for a while, i guess it all depends of the bacteria that goes in
This is a treat, it was written by one of my Uncle's. Yes I do have a copy of the entire genealogy and yes there's no question we were closely related.
im closely related to God not men...
@@lduplessis5725 Today agree. Praise Jesus
Nowdays the types going into movie making can barely string two words together and they can often only come up with , "Bang, Bang".
Robert Newton is a great at playing Blackbeard the pirate, but he was awesome as Long John Silver.
Yep, his two best roles.
Long John Silver role and character should be marked as a genre defining standout. Iconic
BETTER THE DEPP THATS FUR SURE
I loved watching LJS as a kid. I'v always known I was a pirate at heart. Loved Black Sails...th beginning of LJS & how he lost his leg. Yo ho ho
From a war perspective ...
One of the better pirate movies --
Arrrr
Yay! William Bendix, the only pirate with a NYC accent!
And Connie Gilchrist (from Brooklyn NYC) as Purity Pinker in Long John Silver too.
She says "foist" instead of "first," just like The Three Stooges!
When growing up who did not want to be a pirate. You just did not want to be the first one into the hole when the treasure was being buried. What a time to grow up. cheers maties
aye me mate aye!
@ARMY TANKER retired Great memories of growing up. Bet you guys were the coolest pirates in the neighborhood.
Robert Newton best pirate ever 🙂
Good good guys and bad guys, lots of fencing and adventure, and 💘 love they just don't make movies about anymore.
A perfect love story.
None could match him as Blackbeard .Wish there could have been more movies. Jim's wood shop.
In his other life Robert Newton had to have been a Pirate, he is such a natural just like when he play Long John Silver.
Just listen to his language its perfect.
In his other life....lmbo
The ONE GUY LOOKS LIKE "KEITH RICHARD" OF THE ROLLING STONES 😄
@@sedzimcnair9277 Well, you're getting things back to front here. Newton created his pirate character back in the '50s, and his portrayal has now become the stereotype pirate. In other words, Newton has become the definitive pirate. God only knows what Blackbeard was really like...or sounded like,
@@musik102 Strangely enough...you may both be right. You are correct 'we' think of a specific pirate accent because of Newton, but the best guess by historians as to where the real Blackbeard was from would probably have given him roughly the same "west country" accent Newton had.
@@nevyen149 But, it's not just the accent. It's the inflections Newton adds, and the vocal mannerisms.
Robert Newton also played James Traherne, pirate smuggler and secret agent, of Jamaica Inn.
Doc: you carried this around all day and stayed on your feet?
Blackbeard: why not? A bullet don't weigh nothin.
One of my favorite movies
They can't write scripts like the old days. I love those old movies . 😅 😂 🎉
You keep diggin', You keep watchin', And I'll keep drinkin'!
"By thunder there goes our best cut and slash man!"
" . . . . Get your hats off. Lay hold, four of you! For distance this time! One, and the body, the body, I say. Two - shall be cast, shall be cast I say. Three - and into the sea, the sea and into the sea goes he. Now away with you - divvy up his belongings!"
Thank you for uploading🥰😍That Blackbeard was a character used in several films bc he plays the character so well, “Rrrrrrrrrr❣️”😷😷😷2020 watching during quarantine❤️💕💓🎊🎉
Love pirate. Movies
“You’d make the flesh crawl on a squid!” “Aaaarrg, ain’t it the truth!”
Irene Ryan ( Granny from the Beverly hillbillies is on this movie.)
I totally agree with the comments below, as I said in my comments after watching Jamaica inn Robert Newton depicts the best pirate ever , watch out for his distinctive twitch of his eye and of coarse that reconcilable voice ? Even in the film Oliver his stile shines through. Brilliant 👍
Robert newton is a great pirate when I found out he was king John silver I had to watch treasure island and man that’s another great movie.
🥰👍Good movie 😃Always good to watch the great and talented Robert Newton 🥰 Oct . 16 , 2023
Cool film - awesome performance.
IN real life Teach outlived Morgan by about thirty years. . .
I WAS ROOTING FOR BLACKBEARD ALL THE WAY. HE WAS THE ONLY GOOD GUY IN THE MOVIE.
7:14 It’s Granny! Irene Ryan from The Beverly Hillbillies 😁 She’s so cute! 😁
Stellar. You have to hand it to Blackbeard, both fictionally here played masterfully by Newton and the real McCoy, Edward Teach...curious to know what his biography would read like (who, what he was before turning pirate). I mean, if his portrayal herein was any indication, just imagine the treachery he conjured n imposed on the high seas in terms of history. Mr. Teach, his duplicity, no doubt rendered him bogeyman in many a children's bedtime story and parental cautionings... Signed, Arrrr
Lively now,be quick about it....
i watched this when i was a weeeee lad lol mabey 50 years
ago, i loved it
Priates, I love them.
Ever been to sea Billy.Ahar.
Yes.
YAHAAAR
Pirates daughters as well!
i find myself watching old timer movies more than new movies. too much government propaganda in new movies.
As if Casablanca, They Died with Their Boots On, Ninotchka, The Seahawks, The Sands of Iwo Jima, and The Fountainhead to name just a few, weren't Hollywood propaganda.🙄
William Bendix ("Ben") was a bat boy for the NY Yankees at 15 years old; he and Babe Ruth were pals. He was fired for sneaking 15 hot dogs to Babe before a game, who developed gastritis and couldn't play; the Yankees lost that day. After Bendix became famous as an actor, he played Babe Ruth in the biographical film The Babe Ruth Story.
The film was carefully preserved since I sa the entire movie in 1953 and I was just 5 y o together with my cousin who was 10 y o did not understand but I recalled a scene when a nlscknestd was buried up tp its neck. Maybe this time I may be able to understand it that I am 72 y o
If you've suffered & lived through scurvy..the pain is insane! Its arghhhhh! From pain.
Who would have suspected Granny Clampett of cavorting with pirates in her younger days.
😂😀This made me laugh.
A good flick even if it is horribly historically inaccurate. Edward Teach would have been about 8 years old when Henry Morgan died of natural causes.
The real reason for the Arrgh pirate voices was because a lot of seafarers came from Devon and Cornwell including Blackbeard. Even today they roll their Rs in the south.
This movie was filmed 72 years ago, and counting.
"What be your name, girl?"
"Blackbeard!"
"No, I be Blackbeard."
This exchange was really funny when I first saw this film on TV.
*BEST* line in the entire film.
So sad Linda Darnell had a terrible death. She was so beautiful.
A lost gem
All that makeup while traveling on a pirate ship ?
a friend of my grandfather was an upcoming bactor who had the fortune of meeting linda darnell at the time of mark of zorro when she was 17 years old said she was the sweetness and the definition of what beauty is on the inside and out and had found oout that linda darnell where the fire occured actually went back in to the fire to save someone and got trapped and and terrribly and so sadly burned to death.she trully was an amazing woman is what was reitterated what a terrible irreplacible loss was my grandfathers friend comment
Her career was just getting restarted after fighting off alchoholism. She just did another movie and 3 more scripts were waiting for her. Lost at 41. We were deprived!
Very good work
great movie great job Cinecurry
Looks like this movie was written for Alan Ladd. Did he turn down the Part? Many of the people in the film have worked with Ladd before.
...heavy is my heart...arrrrr
Good flick!
What a gruesome end.
Bom filme.
Thank you 😊
Blackbeard is the criminal Sherlock Holmes.
Black beard... 🤔🤯🐈😸🐈🐈🤭
Blackbeard is great, the Scream Queen is even better. What a couple! I'm not through the entire movie yet, but I hope those two hook up and live happily ever after. I think that woman would take to yelling "full broadside, fire on all canons!!!" like a duck to water.
Christ, I just fancied watching Blackbeard the pirate.....and trust it to be on your channel LOL 🤣
WOW THANK YOU SO MUCH I LOVE THESE WONDERFUL TIMELESS MOVIE ... MORE PLEASE .... CAN YOU POSSIBLY GET THE 1938 MOVIE GOODBYE MR CHIPS WITH ROBERT DONAT .... JUST ASKING .. T / Y OR CHARLESTON HESTON THE NAKED JUNGLE ... T / Y
Yes
"Soap?"
I know , so classic ! Like " Huh , what is that ? "
Stretched out to widescreen :(
It's a constant reminder you're watching a movie when 17th century
charcters speak with a 20th century New York accent. A constant distraction that prevents immersion into any film the actors aren't skilled enough to learn accents their characters would have used.
The lady in waiting is Granny from the Beverly Hillbillies.
Linda Darnell,,,,A real beauty who could shiver Me Timbers and Blow me down, any day of the week. Not so for her snagglepuss assistant who played Granny on the Beverly Hillbillies. Darnell was a Texas beauty born in Dallas, died at age 41 the day after she received severe burns in a home fire in 1965 in Chicago.
I see the proffesor. Where is Gilligan.
Soap?
Great movie but a commercial every 5 minutes....Not so much.
Fast forward to end you will see arrow in the shape of open circle press that it will start over with no commercials hope this helps
Nice hair lol x
That one Cat kinda resembles Keith Richards
Aye!
The Armchair Pirate
Watch your backs, at all times everybody.
Arrr, I know where the treasure is, and I alone, it's right there between that low wave and that bigger one.
Arrr off I go, har har, I'mma gonna be rich, I was the only one paying attention.

Wonderful evrebody knows this Song at the start this Violin orchestra i think Victor young but the Titel please i need help it beginns at 0:15 Sek
morgan was only the Lieutenant Governor of Jamaica. not the governor. at least three other people were the actual governors. morgan set himself up, at port royal. and that is not how blackbeard died
GRANNY CLAMPETT
I know this isn’t a documentary, but Blackbeard was beheaded by Maynard onboard the Queen Anne’s Revenge. Maynard didn’t sail with Blackbeard at all. Also Blackbeard was somewhat educated, if I’m not mistaken was bilingual and didn’t talk like this. Captain Bellamy actually drowned at the age of 28 in a storm, and was the most successful pirate of them all. Worth around $116 million dollars in today’s economy.
Even though this film depicts history quite differently than reality, it is by far my favorite Blackbeard movie.
Arrrr, Yo Ho Me Hearties this be the QUEEN ANN'S REVENGE Har Har Har.
😂😂😂
Ahhhhh, before there was Granny........
Have never seen this one
Classic Pirate movie. Simply the best ever made!
I hope you enjoyed it.
Granny Clampett on board.
Linda Darnell had to have had 15 costumes during this movie and not a hair out of place.
👏👏👏👏
🦜🤔Ahreer!
Was that a western movie or a pirate movie 😮
🖤
Granny Clampett was in this one
Too damn many adds
