I was told by someone at the factory the preload knobs didn’t work and there was no preload . You were right and there is a preload and it does exist. Thank you for the great video.
at first when i saw your videos first getting into my ebike rabbithole, i was unimpressed compared to some other flashier channels with higher production quality and editing etc, but now that I actually have a lectric xp 3.0 ebike I find myself coming back to your videos for almost everything. you and this channel deserve as many subscribers as customers that the company gets, literally anyone who buys a lectric xp 3.0 ebike (or any bike that you review and update on) will find value from your channel. your coverage and attention to detail is that valuable and applicable.
Thank you so much, Andrew! I really appreciate that. There are lots of flashy channels with more superficial reviews that are also useful, but my strength and interest is more about getting into the weeds. I'd rather spend time on showing specific things that I'm trying or discovering during my own e-bike journey.
@@LectricGocan you damage the suspension of the bike by tightening the preload too much? Just wondering if there's a good way to figure it out without using the tie
Thank you very much for this video! Your guidance should be included in the owner's manual! I thought the suspension was way too stiff on my recently purchased XP 3.O, but when I tried to turn the knob to soften it up, I couldn't turn the knob by hand! After watching your video, I surmised that maybe it had been firmly tightened for shipping. So I tried to loosen the knob using a pair of pliers -- gently. The knob loosened up and I was able to adjust the spring tension just as you described in your video, to way softer than it was. To those who stated that this knob does nothing, that was definitely not the case for me. It made a great improvement in ride quality!
I just found you and YES!...Very informative!! I have an XP 2.0 so, I suspect, it's pretty much the same. Got yourself a new subscriber...I'll be coming back for more!!
Just received my XP 3.0 and currently have the battery charging before the first ride. This video was definitely very helpful since I knew nothing about how to set the pre-load. Thank you!
Thank you for this video. I just got my dad a 3.0 step thru long range. This video helped me understand the preload to help him get the best ride! Got yourself a new sub! 🤟🏽⚡
I have never subscribed to any channel before but just subscribed to yours. As a new Lectric XP 3.0 owner trying to learn everything I can, I keep finding myself watching your videos. Great content, easily explained and very helpful - THANKS!
Thanks for treating $1000-2000 owners like real e-bike people. Most fun for my money is my goal, and that requires knowing how to set up toys right. Good quality, useful video, not anything less, so thanks. Subscribed today, after watching this ( my first ) and looking at your channel's video list.
Hi, I didn't know how to adjust the forf suspension, so I figured I'd do a quick search. Great video, straight to the point and informative. PS I would check your chain length because it is most likely to long. Mine was by three links if I remember correctly. Yours could be stretched, of course. I don't know how long you've been riding on it, but I checked mine when I first received the bike. Thanks again!
Rad review my friend. Well done!!! You’ve got skills for this stuff. You answered every single question I had in my - over processing mind. I look forward to watching the rest of your videos Man. Cheers!!
@@LectricGo so I did the stand slowly on top with a velcro zip tie, it barely went down, I loosened the suspension fork to the max counter clockwise going to the - and direction too. Is it cuz I don't weight enough? Cuz I am only at 1/4-1/5 of the fork suspension 😅 or does it need to warm up and be used?
Great info. It clears up some seemingly contradictory info on the adjustability question. Thanks! Quick question: My wife's 3.0 has developed a squeak in front wheel/fork area. Not a brake squeak. It is intermittent and happens when fork is turned to left. It happens at all speeds - even just walking it into the garage. We have lifted and spun front tire - no squeak and it appears true. I have torqued down all hex heads in sight. Wheel bearing?
No personal experience with the 2.0. Hopefully a 2.0 owner can chime in but if you have a 2.0, you can experiment. It is very noticeable when you give it a couple of turns.
How Many turns does it go from all the way to the right, the to loosen how many turns can you go counter-clockwise please ?? THANK YOU , YOU RULE !! Blessings 🙏 🙏 🧙♂️Wild Wizard 🧙♂️🙏🏼🙏🏼🚴♀️
More shock will be transmitted to axle and head bearings so maybe they will wear out a bit quicker, but I wouldn't be too worried unless you are often riding on very rough terrain.
It may be overtightened. You can carefully try a rag and some pliers but measure how much it is compressing so you know if it is all the way soft or all the way hard.
I have the 3.0 as well. Per Lectric the Preload is just a knob with no purpose. Some people have removed the knob and it's hallow/empty inside. The 2.0 has a different setup and it does serve a purpose, bit not the 3.0.
This warrants further investigation... I just went outside and cranked preload knob to full hard followed by full soft, big difference in force to compress and you can hear the preload spring creaking as you adjust. The manual's description of the lockout lever also appears to be incorrect. The manual makes it sound like the lockout lever is continuous and can be used to adjust stiffness but it doesn't. It's either fully locked out or full open.
I adjusted my XPremium forks after watching this video and it makes a definite difference. Not sure about the XP 3 but that left knob on the fork is actually stamped PRELOAD.
I was told by someone at the factory the preload knobs didn’t work and there was no preload . You were right and there is a preload and it does exist. Thank you for the great video.
It sure does! :) Lectric customer service thanked me for pointing it out. Sometimes it appears they don't know what their suppliers are delivering.
Big thanks, getting my 3.0 soon!

Good information. Any thoughts on tire pressure for where you are riding? Thanks
My 3.0 manual is confusing regarding this.
Yup, but I trust my eyes, sensations and measurements.
There are several things in the Lectric manuals that dont agree with actual features.
Thank you very much for this explanation. Your videos are fantastic!!
Hey man, thx!
I sure like that bike stand, who makes it?
I got it for free with an old motorcycle purchase but this one is identical as far as I can tell amzn.to/3IcxqHD
I’ll be back as well!
Gonna see if adjusting preload again helps. This bike is super uncomfortable to ride 😬
Very helpful.Does this work on the2.0 as well?

Where did you purchase the stand? It looks similar to my motorcycle stand.
It was included in one of my motorcycle purchases but I have a similar one listed in my Amazon affiliate links.

Can you potentially damage the bike by tightening the preload too much
More shock will be transmitted to axle and head bearings so maybe they will wear out a bit quicker, but I wouldn't be too worried unless you are often riding on very rough terrain.
I received my xp3.0 and the stiffness knob does not turn at all. The right one lock knob does turn but no stiffness adjustment. Defect?
It may be overtightened. You can carefully try a rag and some pliers but measure how much it is compressing so you know if it is all the way soft or all the way hard.

"PRELOAD" clearly stamped on my XP 3.0 as well.
@@tenncutt Yes, it's stamped on all the ebikes, but per Lectric on the 3.0 it serves no purpose. Call them, they will tell you what I'm telling you.
@@LectricGo All the ebikes have the Preload on the knob. Maybe you can call Lectric to clarify.
It still kinda sucks ngl 😂
Well compared to forks that cost more than the entire bike, maybe. But compared to a rigid fork, it's much better!
