- Abandoned Eat N Park - New Castle, Pa. Closed in early 2019, this old restaurant was a staple in the New Castle community for decades. Now closed and left to rot.

The last time I was at Eat N Park was in Weirton, WV. It is sad to see a closed restaurant, especially in a smaller city like New Castle. Ahh yes the famous Eat N Park Christmas commercial.

It's a simple, elegant "ad" that does not SELL anything! (other than simply showing the logo at the end) I put the word ad in quotes because it does not even mention any product/service. (rare in advertising.) It's more of a Christmas Card from a company. My other favorite TV ad of all time is the "Mean" Joe Greene Coca-Cola ad, It is advertising in the classic sense that it IS selling Coca-Cola, But it's an awesome and also very simple ad. That BOTH are connected to Pittsburgh is icing on the cake! PS: Eat N Park also was a sponsor of Mister Rogers' Neighborhood. Pittsburgh goodness all around!
@@jamesslick4790 That's totally what I thought too, when I saw this ad at the end of this video. BTW I will say I'm from Chicago, and that I had never seen that ad till now. That it isn't so much an ad, as it is a nice Christmas card from a company. Have to say I enjoyed seeing that ad, and I think it was a very nice and simple Christmas ad. Nice to hear Eat 'n Park sponsored Mr. Rogers' Neighborhood, back in the day too!
My all time favorite holiday commercial! Ive eaten there a lot in my young days. So sad as with all small business's in small towns, they are now a part of history.

Sad that it closed my husband used to eat there all the time before he changed jobs. I love the star commercial and I am not ashamed to admit I tear up every time.

I like the landscaping that was done around the building.
Best described to the unfamiliar as very similar to a Big Boy restaurant (e.g. Frisch's, Elby's). In fact, Eat n Park was affiliated with Big Boy at one time, many years ago.
Banana Foster's French Toast and Double shot espresso milkshake was my go-to food when I went there. I was introduced to chocolate covered espresso beans through that place. Well....it'll either get repurposed as another American Chinese buffet or finally a downtown McDonald's to compete with Burger King.
I was so upset when it closed.

I actually ate at this choke and gag about 28 years ago..was dating a girl named Brenda J ..she was a hostess there....they had really good pies...and a great salad bar!!!

there are way more abandoned buildings then just that one in new castle, if you walked up father you could’ve found the plate factory

I worked here for 10 years and it closed when i was on maternity leave. I was the hostess . That's where the bakery case and 2 registers were. I miss working there. Im the one who did all the cookies

I would love to see a video from you focusing on the abandoned Shenango China building at the end of 422 right before you go into town, I've seen other videos and there is a ton of stuff still there, alot of documentation from the 50s, and alot of still intact valuable China products they made there. Please make a video of this place happen

I remember how upset all of the older people were when this closed, especially with all of those churches around. They did just close one day.. I drove past one day and they were opened, the next they weren't. Very sad.

Me too that commercial was on WGN which is has cable signal from Chicago.
I did a vid here on my channel about 1-2 months after they closed, unfortunately, not much has changed.

@@WallieB26 Hey Wallie, they just closed the Old Country Buffet in York Pa ,on Monday ,and sold the fixtures via internet auction and are emptying it out tomorrow, Saturday .. No warning or notification to the employees..

That commercial is almost 40 years old (1982!) and NOTHING "dates" it (Well other than it's SDTV in a 4:3 aspect ratio..) They could probably run it for another 40 years! (I believe it holds the record for longest running holiday ad in the US.)

Bummer, If I get stuck having to go up to New Castle, where the Hell am I gonna get a Super Burger and Cookie Fudge Fantasy? ☹ PS, It's likely that some (most?) people that worked there got gigs at other Eat N Park locations. A lot of employees have experience in more than one location.
