"I struggled with my loose natural hair"... I identify with that statement so much. I loved my loose natural hair, but I just did not know what to do with it. I tried for 8 long years LOL and just couldn't find anything that worked for it. So I was always putting it in box braids because I loved the creative hair styles I could do with them. I felt like I'd get similar results if I loc'd it up, so here I am. 8 months deep lol. I've wanted them for years anyway. Not sure why I waited so damn long.
Same I did absolutely nothing with my loose natural hair and I’ve been natural since 2012. I have 3C hair and I would literally just wear a ponytail or two braids/flat twist. I just started my third loc journey yesterday with finger coils and I’m so excited to see my hair flourish. I took my locs out after 7 1/2 months because I decided interlocking wasn’t for me. I didn’t like the way it made my hair look/feel and I was creating holes in my locs ☹️
Omg this is me I been natural for 8 years and 6 months and I'm ready to lock all I wanted to do was grow to BSL and I have tried EVERYTHING I think I need to force myself to retain length by locking
I struggled as well even though I loved my loose natural hair. It’s so pretty and coily. I was just too lazy and prone to depression. So the locking process would start and I’d have to spend my life undoing it. Now i can leave my hair do what it wants. I
I will be 60 year old in April!! I’m starting my loc’s journey then, because I’m so done with trying to figure out what I want!! Now I’m definitely sure I want my loc’s
I was scrolling down my feed and your video popped up. I want to thank you for what you said about "if you want to Loc your hair just do". That was the motivation and sign I needed for me to loc my hair. Thank you again.
I am soooo tempted to just loc my hair. I always said I'd do it once I got a bit older and didn't want to worry about twists and puffs anymore, but man... This might be the fifth video I've watched this weekend. I think they're calling me.
I just started my loc journey on Nov 2 2024 and I know I need to trust the process and keep the faith and no one believes in me that I will keep going in this cause I change my hair styles alot. But I believe in me!! Thanks for the video it gives me hope.
You and your locs are so pretty! And it is true…You fall in love with your locs, frizz, loose hair and all. I am 6 weeks and I love now and know I will love the rest of the journey! Thanks so much for sharing!
Beautiful locs! Your budding started quick! I’m 6 months in and have yet to see budding. Also, what I love about this video is that you got straight to the point, showed a lot of photos and described everything going on with clarity. THANK YOU! 👏🏾
Beautiful locs! Thank you for the encouraging and inspiring video. As I discovered your video, I realized on this day February 4, 2023, I have been one month loc'd. I don't have a lot of length right now but I'm just going to enjoy the journey and have patience. Now let me go take a couple of pics of my locs.😊
YOUR HAIR LOOKS GREAT😉 I JUST STARTED MY LOC JOURNEY, JUST BECAUSE I AM TIRED OF THE TIGHT BRAIDINGS, FLAT IRONS, SEW INS, WIGS, AND PEOPLE PULLING OR BURNING OUT MY HAIR😔 I HAVE DONE IT ALL AND THIS WILL BE MY RETIREMENT HAIR STYLE, GOD BLESS😉 I AM PLEASED TO BE LOCKING UP MY HAIR AND PUTTING IT TO REST😀
this gave me so much hope ! i started my coils yesterday , still getting use to it. 😅but trusting the process , thank you for the motivation , love your locs 🤍🦋
I feel ya on the beginning of the video. I felt like I was atrocious. I've almost reached my 1yr in abt 1 month(September 2020) and I'm falling in love with my hairnall over again
I'm starting my love journey tomorrow...super excited and watching your journey has me even more excited and even more anxious lol Enjoyed your journey ❤️
Omg. Hey Alyssa, I’m Alysse & I’m also loc’d 🤣 i had the same struggle of not really liking my natural hair before being loc’d. I’ve been so much happier ever since.
Really LOVE your enthusiasm and for recognizing that there is NO ugly stage! Our hair is beautiful no matter what. I was locked for 10 years, cut them off. I ready to begin a new journey and I’m looking for a good loctitian. Who did you go to and can you please provide their information?
Enjoyed your watching your journey😍 thank you so much for sharing! I've been natural for over 5 years now. I shave my head alot though. But when growing it out it is so rewarding seeing the growth. So happu for you love!
Wow my hair is thin! And about the same texture as yours was. I would cryyy if I could have thick locs like that. They’re beautiful I just don’t see my thin hair ever doing that! But this video might have proved me wrong! Thanks for sharing 💕
I love this video. I as well loved my locs since day one. I never went through an ugly stage, never felt ugly, never felt like I hated my hair. I'm almost a year now and it just feels right. This was the best decision I've ever made for my hair!
To you the starter locs were short but they're the length my hair is now and it took me over a year to get to this point. My day one locs were sooo short they made me insecure. But not as insecure as my baby afro that just shriveled up nonstop. A few months later I loved my hair and have been loving it ever since. I wish I hadn't waited so long, locking my hair was the best decision I ever made and had I done it a couple years back my hair would be flourishing so much more in length and thickness 🥰
I already love and appreciate your journey off the strength of you saying you never felt not beautiful ❤️🤗 I started mine 2/8/20 and have felt exactly the same 😊 #WhatAwkwardStage I know I’m not that far along yet so note frizz to come of course but this is the best decision ever imho #NewSubbie 🙌🏾
You're locs are soooooo beautiful! I was undecided on two strand or comb coil. After watching your video I'm definitely going comb coil! Thanks for the many pics!👍
Your hair is beautiful! I'm at 3 months and 6 days. I started mine myself during this quarantine and I'm struggling a little because its just different as a loose natural but I've always wanted locs but thought I wouldn't make it throughout the process but I'm still here. Thanks for sharing! 🌟✌
I definitely think mine are gonna be thin in the beginning, probably thinner than yours were, but seeing this is giving me more confidence that it'll still look good and make me feel good about myself early on. I've been thru some CHANGES with hair, so I have high hopes this won't be as frustrating as some of my hair phases have been lol. I mean I did some wild ish it back in that day and made it thru somehow 😩😂.
Loved this video. We have similar beginner hair and the amount and size of your locs is what I desire. I resist my hair every few weeks. Ahhh I think I'm gonna take the plunge in 2020. It's been on my mind for years. Thank you for the inspiration and month by month info! Your hair looks beautiful!
So beautiful! I really enjoyed this video, I'm going to loc my hair on my birthday and I can't wait to start. How many locs do you have in total? Sorry if you answered this in the video, I'm at work so I had to watch with no sound
I started my loc journey 7/24/2020. I had about 2 inches worth of hair. I have probably 3 now. And I am self conscious about my locs. Only because I’m going through the frizzy stage and because they are so short it looks like I’m walking around with my hair unkempt. I don’t hate them I just wish my locs were longer.
Dope vid🔥🔥 I have a question though... when you get the retwists, are you supposed to retwist the whole loc or just the root? I have starter comb coils.
I love your journey sooo much ❤️. I started my journey the 2nd of April and I’m afraid they won’t thicken up. Especially the ones at the sides and back 😢
When you are looking at loc videos because you are ready to start, and you come across your little cuz on YT! Hey cuz!
Hey girl! ❤️ welcome to the loc fam 💪🏽🙏🏽
Same!
This is dope... 🥰

Your hair grew so much in a short period of time! I love the way your locs are looking 🥰🥰
Prettyy. Locdd thank you so much girl 💕
The comb coils were long it didn’t grow much
I love how positive you were through your journey . It’s very inspiring ♥️
Thank you I really tried to be ❤️

Thank you so much! Best decision ever 💕💕
Damn your hair formed so fast
Nah 6 months is enough
It’s that gorgeous type 4 hair. I washed my hair the day after getting coils put in and they didn’t budge!! I love my type 4 hair!!!
Cuz she got coils instead of starting with 2 strand twist, and yes omg
Beautiful locs! Thank you for the encouraging and inspiring video. As I discovered your video, I realized on this day February 4, 2023, I have been one month loc'd. I don't have a lot of length right now but I'm just going to enjoy the journey and have patience. Now let me go take a couple of pics of my locs.😊
Wow you started your locs on my wedding day! 8.17.19 ❤️ I just started my locs yesterday. So excited!

Same, getting mine right now. I’m
So excited
Your hair is beautiful. I'm 3 weeks into my loc journey. Great picture of you and your baby. Kids grow like loc's. Thanks for sharing your journey.
Tanakia Richardson Thank you and thanks for watching! 💕💕🤗
That’s the downside to retwisting to early. The coils come down. It’s really best to wait at least 2 months to re-twist or more. Nice locs
Thank you!
this gave me so much hope ! i started my coils yesterday , still getting use to it. 😅but trusting the process , thank you for the motivation , love your locs 🤍🦋
I love this video. It’s very detailed, and I LOVE your natural nature.
I feel ya on the beginning of the video. I felt like I was atrocious. I've almost reached my 1yr in abt 1 month(September 2020) and I'm falling in love with my hairnall over again
