  • The L94’s all stood proudly at The Saltmeadows Depot In Gateshead on Sunday 15 December 2019. This was to say goodbye to the well-known Scania buses which are retiring after nearly 20 years In-service! On top of that, this event was to also raise some money for the Gateshead Foodbank, which was a success as In total we raised £1,000 for this good cause.
Back In March 2001 the first Scania entered service and grew to a total of 87 buses at Go North East. These iconic Scania buses have been serving the North East ever since with their rememberable smiley face fronts.
The Scania Wright Solar's have operated on so many routes In all different liveries since entering service. This includes front-line services such as The Angel 21, The Loop 93 and 94 and also The Green Arrow 97. All of these services have all been upgraded since with the next generation low emission buses. These buses have also tested the durability of Scania’s buses! As they have been used every day for the past 20 years and still providing top quality services.
It’s sad to see these buses on their last journeys with Go North East but It’s not the end. As most of them have been sold to other operators around the UK, which will carry on using them until their final days.
