Class of '94. I loved the campus back then, and it has only grown to be even more beautiful. Practically lived in the Stacks at the Carrier Library, best quiet place to study back then. The Quad was also a great place to hangout.
('84) All of the cow tipping pastures are now gone. LOL. What a campus (it's doubled in size since I was there) yet it still feels like JMU! Still an amazing teaching university.
I was really apprehensive at first with James Madison, steering towards Virginia Tech, because of the STEM opportunities. But this really *really* just made me change my mind. There seem to be dozens more here just for living life, where VT slightly stresses m out with only focusing on its academic advantages. The video did kinda disappoint me though in failing to point out the comp sci building. I'm going to have to assume it's in the engineering building lol. How far away is the east campus from the original campus, too? Because it comparison that area seemed much blander and void of life compared to the rest of it.
Hi, Chase! I am on the staff at JMU. So glad you are considering becoming a Duke! The Department of Computer Science is located in the first building you see upon crossing over the I-81 bridge, first in the long academic "building" on the East Side of Campus. It was recently renamed King Hall in honor of our VP for Administration and Finance who retired. The CS program is part of the College of Integrated Science and Engineering. It's a very close knit program in terms of students getting to know their professors and students of all levels working together.
I appreciate this tour so much! The programs and community seem to have such a unique spirit about that I feel connected to even in this video! How far is East Campus from Main Campus, and are there options for students to travel from campus to campus (i.e buses or shuttles) or just walking?
hey, just in case you haven’t found the answer yet, it’s not a far walk at all! no more than a 10-15 minute walk from the middle of the Quad to East Campus, just over a bridge that crosses the interstate! :)
Beautiful campus unfortunately we picked a terrible time to try and visit werent able to go in or see anything. No students or anyone on campus so just had to stroll around and look into windows....so disappointing.
Great University. One of the greatest patriots Kathy Warden that is CEO of Northrop Grumman graduated from this University. Imagine becoming someone of that level. Respect.
