    Looking forward to your long term testing feedback. Optimistic that some of these micro improvements to the process will yield more consistent ammo. Let's see a part 2 in a couple months.

    Thanks for the content, Greg! I'm very excited to use this press. I hadn't even heard about it until you released that short clip the other day. 3 minutes afterward I had one on order! I could tell it was a great press by looking at it, and the fact that SAC made it, and that you were using it, that it was a quality press. Thank you for sharing the scriptures and the positive messages.

    A couple of thoughts on the video and design:
    Press needs the SAC orange accent somewhere instead of just having all black.
    As far as measuring headspace goes, standard dial/digital calipers aren't capable of < .001" (If we're using standard comparator inserts with calipers) so there's no point in running a test unless one has a cadillac/height gauge capable of finer resolution tested on a surface plate. This is the material SAC should be putting out.
    There's no way I would want that press to hang over the table with any mount. The footprint is not designed to do that. Giving it more center height at the bottom/making a cutout chute off the front would allow it to use the simple system the Summit press has, which is the best depriming setup in reloading. It has no built in priming system, which is nice to have.
    The conical shellholder is a nice touch to offset missing machining parallelism between plates. The choice to cam-over or not is pretty slick.
    It looks like a decent amount of mass to move with each stroke which could get tiring. All in all a nice (boutique) press, and it's good to see new players out there making new presses and improving on what we have. Though at the end of the day, I don't think that the press is going to make handloads any better than what's already available, but the more competition the better.

    That nice hard stop is what makes this appeal to me. I've run into instances where I need to double bump my Forster to size consistently. I've been pleased with my Forster, but I feel like I'd have better peace of mind running one of these.

    Great review. You really demonstrated the functionality of this new press really well. I'd hear about the press....but you provided a much better understanding of it. I thought to myself that the SAC press appeared to be high-quality and something I'd keep my eye on and perhaps save my coins for possibly adding one in the future. As you were wrapping up the press information I noted there was substantial time remaining in the video...and wondered what else was going to be covered. Let me just say that your next topic was spot on and something that is of immediate relevance and a message that I'll ponder the rest of the day. Excellent message, sir. Thank you. God Bless. Keep our endeavors on what truly matters and not focus on the distractions. Liked & subscribed.

    I really like the design of this thing compared to others I've seen on the market. I can't comment on functionality, because I'm a complete newbie. Have yet to size a single case, but I'd like to get into it eventually. This kind of machine looks like it would fit my available space a bit better than the typical presses I've seen without sacrificing any durability.

    Very nice! But with the curved side links from Josh Badeau on my co-ax, along with the inline fab ergo side roller handle, I think I’m about ideal. The one big advantage here with the Nexus is that it will take larger dies (I had to get a slimmer mandrel die from APW for the co-ax) and most importantly to me I could use a funnel on a powder through expanding die, when there’s no way the co-ax yoke would fit over that. However with the Badeau curved side links I actually have more access in front than the Nexus.
    Being a SAC product you know it’s going to be well built, and it has some impressive features. As to the cam over, I’m sorry to say after 20 years of reloading I still don’t get it. I’ve never had a press that did that, and haven’t missed anything I don’t think. I just adjust my dies accordingly for FL sizing, using comp shell holders if I have to. Back in the day I understand camming over stressed the press beyond its limits, and neither the Lee Classic Cast or Co-ax I have seem to have any cam over option, so I’m not sure what I’m missing. In any case thanks for the very thorough first look! 👍
    P.S. on the spent primer handling on all 3 of my presses, (Dillon 550 and the two single stages) I’m old school, and run a 3’ plastic tube down to half gallon plastic or glass mason jars each with a pound of lead at the bottom. Each tube end has a cut off .357 mag case at the end, and a snap ring to keep them from pulling out. It will take about 20 years of daily decapping to fill them up. 😉. That being said I’ll be interested in what you come up with for your new Nexus!
    Appreciate the good word by the way! God Bless.

    I’ve been sold on SAC tools for quite some time now. I’ve been using their comparator sets and dies and feel they are second to none. I really like this press and would love to have it, but it’s hard to justify the price of the press over the press I am using now. However, should I get a sudden influx of cash, this is one of the first things I would purchase. BTW, I really like your flush mount set up. I would definitely try to go that route, should I get one of the presses.

    SAC had some good thought put into that press, but, a lot of folk will have an issue with the price on it, it's not for everybody. I understand their build philosophy at SAC, but, some of it could be done cheaper and be every bit as well built. Maybe Forster will make some mods to the Co-Ax now, see what happens down the road.

      The nexus is 775 correct? While the co ax is 400. I believe if thats correct then for a custom press like the nexus then its a great price imo. Like you said not for everyone but its definitely reasonable

    How did you find the force that you needed to resize your brass? I have a Summit press and I find that it takes a lot of force to resize with the Summit.

    • @primalrights
      @primalrights  3 месяца назад

      Well to measure the force you have to apply to the handle, a simple pull scale found at any hardware store would suffice. To find the force applied to the case, you'd need a pressure gauge or similar setup to get in between the case and the press.

    • @primalrights
      @primalrights  3 месяца назад

      Literally almost every press ever made cams over, including the Forster. The Nexus is different because it is a resisted cam over. The 419 zero is one of the only presses that do not cam over.

    • @E.L.RipleyAtNostromo
      @E.L.RipleyAtNostromo 3 месяца назад

      @@primalrightsWell, then I don’t know what that is, because neither my classic cast or co-ax “cams over.” Both have absolute hard stops where no further movement can be made, and in both cases the top of the ram, or shell holder plate, is at its absolute height when the press handle is at its absolute lowest point. So if what you’re saying is true to you that means that you have a different interpretation of “camming over” than I’ve read anywhere online. I won’t doubt your expertise, but then we’d have to both understand what the term means. The Classic Cast absolutely has that characteristic, but perhaps it’s the Badeau links I’ve always had that makes it different from the standard co-ax…?

    • @primalrights
      @primalrights  3 месяца назад

      @E.L.RipleyAtNostromo Hard stop has nothing to do with whether it cams over/under or not. This is a basic mechanical principle.
