  • Wow, I can't believe that over 111,000 people have viewed this video.
    UPDATED VIEWER COUNT: NOVEMBER 18, 2018.
    You clicked on this video because you want to know about the Iwalk. It's pretty cool. Simple to use, relatively easy to attach.
    If I could suggest to the manufacturer how to improve the unit I would add:
    1) Be sure to place a towel behind your knee so the strap doesn't cut into the skin.
    2) It would be nice to have a cord (bungee) type device that you could hook to the iwalk and up to your belt or belt look. in the beginning my wife spent a lot of time with one hand on the device because she wasn't able to get it tight enough and our solution was to use a bungee cord and connect it to her belt loop.
    3) And the supports at the upper thigh need to be metal and not plastic.
    Thanks and please comment..especially if you've tried this before.

    I love the iWalk 2.0 just the other day I had a customer come in with there 11 year old son who was on crutches for weeks after having foot surgery. Poor kids arms where so torn up from constantly using crutches, after seeing the iwalk and wearing it the kids smile was priceless.

      Erika Koz I’m glad you like it Erica. My wife’s name was very sensitive to. We ended up putting a small wash towel underneath it. The other thing I would recommend is that you get little piece of rope or a small belt so you can attach the upper part of the I walk to your belt loop. That way when you lift the lake up there won’t be any play in it. I’m so glad you like it. I have nothing to do with the company and I’m not affiliated with it at all. But this saved my wife from being very uncoordinated very safe with crutches. This works great, we have it in our garage, we’re going to use it againWhen we have another injury. Take care, get better superfast, and then stay healthy,. Thanks for watching all my videos, Jeff.

    I recommend the Iwalk 2.0. I had, virtually ankle reconstruction 8 weeks ago.. I was on the Iwalk2.0 for at least 6 weeks and it was an excellent solution for me. I have various stairs in my House, as well as 3 young Kids, with the iwalk 2.0 I was able to pretty much do what I could do on 2 legs. I am now in week 8 where I can start weigh bearing on my ankle, I now only use the iwalk2.0 if I have to walk a reasonable distance.As an Addition to this I also purchased a Left foot accelerator setup for my car. Yet another Independence giving solution for my recovery. Brilliant...In the end of the day I had to add a Facecloth to the Shin Support as the foam flatten's on the knee pretty quickly. Also I added a Child's seatbelt cover, to the strap that goes behind the knee, as the padding that comes with the iwalk2.0 is pretty inadequate. Tiny issues compared to the freedom I had using the product. 6 weeks flew by, I feel I gave my ankle an excellent non weight bearing rehab because of it.Cheers Mike.

      Your experience mirrors my wife's experience. All the extra modifications you needed to add up with the same. Funny how that works. But the good thing is, my wife and you were able to move around independently and with minimal effort. Good luck on your road to recovery and stay healthy. Thanks for watching my videos.

    REVIEW:
    I Just had a spiral tib-fib fracture right above the ankle and I bought this hoping to maintain my day to day functions. At first try it felt promising, I really expect for this to be the "hands free" solution to getting around but it was not. In the house, on even surfaces, going up and downstairs it was okay but not great. Walking on the sidewalks where the surface is uneven walking more than half a block, fugetaboutit! You only have one point of contact with the ground while walking so when you are on uneven surfaces - fugetaboutit! .This good for in the house and the car is parked right outside. I should also mention that I played sports in high school and college so I am very athletic, coordinated and have a good sense of balance and walking with the iwalk 2.0 made me nervous. I returned the iwalk and a purchased knee scooter and felt way more secure and getting around was a breeze.

    • @jeffmaggie
      @jeffmaggie  6 лет назад +2

      Lawrence Roman Hey, you got to go with what works for you. I’m sorry that I walked it work for you and I’m really glad that the scooter did. The reason we went to the eye walk was because we thought it would be easy. There is a break-in. About two or three hours. What we found that helped a lot was number one we put a towel under the knee and that really helped a lot. The other thing we did is we took a strap and we attached it to the upper belt and then we attached to her belt so it wasn’t loose every time she left to the lake to go forward. Before when she left to the lake the lake wood left about half an inch so she’d have to really busy have a little bit higher. Which would put that belt loop on there to help things out she didn’t have to hold it with her left hand but I totally get what you’re saying. And I guarantee, if you said you were at athletic in high school and college. You should be able to use this very well, but you have to choose what works for you and I’m really really really glad that the scooter did the job feel. By the way, I also hope that you recover superfast. Spiral fracture‘s are tough because they’re not transverse and they take a longer time to heal. Did you have any pins, or did they just placed you in a splint cast,.? You don’t have to respond back if you don’t want to. I’m just curious. Thanks for watching my video and you can take a look at the other ones too although this is the only one on the I want. Have a great day and speedy speedy recovery to youJeff smile :-).

      Stephanie Masiello First, I’m very sorry that you have an injury. Second, I’m really glad that you’re looking at this video. A couple of things you’re going to need. First thing is a soft washcloth that you put underneath your knee so you’re a part of your lower leg doesn’t get sore. The second thing is to consider getting a piece of rope or belt or something that has Velcro on it and attach it to the top of that I walk and then attach it to your belt loop. There is a little bit of play even when you tighten it up around the cast. So it’s nice to have that extra security. Good luck and be safe. It’s a really fast learning curve and when she figure it out you’ll be all over the house. Ha ha.Have a great day and get healthy fast. Thanks for watching all my other videos too. Jeff.

    I liked what I saw, I do not know if it will be a possibility or a solution for me.
    Presented the iWalk 2.0 to several clinical and Portuguese are not favorable to this product, the conclusion that they do not want to take a step forward, I'll have to risk to have or that is 0.5% of mobility, can not be tied to chair wheels the rest of my life. I know that may be a risk, but if not try will never know.

    What is the white material you used at the front at the front of the support where the knee extends out from the cast. I have the same cast but need to protect the knee area by raising it up ot level of the cast edge. It is too painful to walk without that support. The cast digs into the leg. Thanks for this video I am in exactly the same condition and have the iWalker 2.0 but just starting out. 12 Weeks to go. Thanks

    • @jeffmaggie
      @jeffmaggie  5 лет назад

      Best of luck to you. The white patch on the front is a washcloth that we pulled it a couple of times because the top of the tibia or the cop at the lower part of the leg gets really sore obviously not with the canisters but just above where the cast stops. She doesn’t use it anymore but it was a great great thing to have when she was injured. Sounds like you got the same thing and I wish you the best of luck. It’s really easy to get used once you try it for a while but you’ll know. Thanks for watching all of my videos and have a great day. And healthy recovery. Jeff.

      Kurt Deneen there was no pain at all using this device. It was really easy to use. The only addition would be to include a belt strap from the top of the I walk to your belt loop. That way when you lift the leg there's no gap under your knee. Other than that it works great. Thanks for watching and good luck.

    • @jeffmaggie
      @jeffmaggie  5 лет назад +1

      I couldn’t find your other comment about the pain for me to respond on that thread. It is painful on the knee. Specifically the upper part of the lower leg. If you look closely you can see that we put a washcloth there. The other thing that we need to do to tweak it so it works well is to attach a little rope or small built from the top of the apparatus to your belt loop. On your pants. Because there’s a little bit to give which is not bad but every time you come down, you come down in a different place on your knee. So it would be nice if you could get it cinched up and kind of close. It has a face strap but it’s not very strong. And it will sag in drop over time. And about making a video with somebody using both of them at the same time. That would be hilarious ha ha. It would kind of be like walking on stilts that are attached to your knees instead of your feet. I can only imagine that after you’re done with that video, you might need both of those at some point in time to move around. But I’m not sure. Ha ha. Thanks for watching all my videos and have a great day. Jeff.

      rkomonkey I completely know what you're talking about. I broke my ankle about 10 years ago and couldn't use the same thing. Thanks for watching my videos.

    I appreciate the non talking. I wanted to hear if it makes noises and it does. 🙁

      MJ You’re welcome. The non-talking was because I didn’t want my wife to know I was filming her. LOL. Thanks for watching videos and have a great day. Jeff.

      I don’t recall exactly where we got this. I know it was done online. It might have been Amazon. But I don’t think it was I wok.com. It was about $150. But totally totally worth it. Thanks for watching all my videos and have a great day. Jeff.

    Hmmm, so it seems to me that she broke her ankle or something, probably as a result of, oh, I don't know....texting maybe, yet here she is on her iWalk 2.0 walking and texting anyway....guess some people will never learn, hehe!!

    • @jeffmaggie
      @jeffmaggie  6 лет назад +1

      Michael Lambert It’s worse than texting. She was on an uneven bench trying to get some clothes out of the top of her closet. It’s slept sideways and she came down with her entire weight on her ankle. Snap the bottom of her fibula. But you’re right, texting is probably not a smart thing to do. Especially if you’re in a crunch. Thanks for watching on my videos and have a great day. Jeff.

    This can cause a DVT

    • @jeffmaggie
      @jeffmaggie  6 лет назад +1

      Koko Boogie DVT is short for deep vein thrombus. Not necessarily. It is not in the device all day. She does take it out. And when she does we rub and massage the leg. But you’re right, if it’s kept in the flex position and not moving around too much, the blood can coagulate because of DVT. Not a good thing. Thanks so much for watching my videos. Have a great day. Jeff.

      @socialbuttafly1707 6 лет назад

      I wasn't attacking you or her, but I was a little leary of the device. I used to love sitting with my left knee bent back like that, and ended up with a PE from DVT. Just wanted to warn people, that's all.

      @jeffmaggie  6 лет назад

      Koko Boogie No offense taken. I understand exactly where you’re coming from. I did some small research on what you said, and it’s true. Thanks for your comment and have a great day. Jeff.

    Should we really be watching a woman walk with an injury also while she is looking at her phone?

    • @jeffmaggie

      Absolutely not. Ha ha. I tried to get her off the phone for 10 seconds to make this video and she almost had a coronary heart attack. Ha ha. Thanks for watching on my videos and have a great day and stay safe.

      Tommy Evans it was pretty easy. She broke her left foot so she just needed her right foot for the brake and gas.

    That’s probably how she messed up her ankle in the first place, walking and texting and looking at Phone! Very dangerous! And she continues to do it while she is in her car!

    • @jeffmaggie
      @jeffmaggie  7 лет назад +4

      Diana Rumley Excellent point Diana. I totally agree with you. My wife was doing her iPhone every single day on the I walk to. I kept telling her to put the phone down and she wouldn’t , I kept telling her not to drive, and she would. But she made it every single day on that I walk. It was really amazing to see her go up and down stairs cross streets,sidewalks, curbs, elevators, everything. So she’s pretty much doing everything that she wanted to do before she broke her ankle. Oh, and the way she broke her ankle was not so smart either. She was on a piano bench going up in her closet and fell on the way down. Ouch.😂😑💀 OK, thanks so much for watching my videos and have an awesome day.

      Yessenia Rodriguez Yes, that is true. But it’s much better than crutches. I don’t think there’s anything that you can really do for an angle it would be good feel good wills recovering, but this seems to be pretty good

    NO ! iwalk is a total POS !!! I bought one early so I could learn how to use it before surgery. The “foot” is so sticky you trip all the time. I fell 3x and hurt my knee. I can’t imagine the damage I’d cause using this right after ankle surgery. TOTAL GARBAGE! A lawsuit in the making without a doubt !!!

    • @jeffmaggie

      OK… So I don’t share your same view and opinion, but I’m really glad you left a comment. people need to see both sides of the story, not just the good side or bad side. I’m sorry that it didn’t work for you and that you fell three times. Obviously, this is not for everybody. I don’t mean that like you can’t do it because you’re not good enough, it’s just that it doesn’t fit everybody’s needs. But seriously, thank you for leaving a comment welcome. Thank you for watching all my videos and have a great day. Jeff.
