"The anacardiaceae family of trees, sometimes called the cashew family, includes mango, poison ivy, poison oak, sumac, Peruvian pepper, pistachio, and you guessed it, cashews. They all contain urushiol, the sneaky oil that causes the skin to erupt in rashes for some people and is the bane of my existence, but to varying degrees. The oil is found in all parts of the plant, including the leaves, stems, and even the roots."
Some just call it allergies🤷♂️
I understand the cost of cashew why high. My question is whether see workers are paying enough to feed their families. I Would like to support them. Every cashew we buy some percentage of the selling price should go to cashew worker community 🙏 respect them 🙏 any influencer pls do the needful for them if u reading my comments. Your action is Much appreciated 🙏
”suitable for vegetarians” tf does that have to do with anything? Every nut is “suitable for vegetarians”. Sounds like the blame game with vegans for eating avocados or almonds, when we make up a mere 2% of the population 😂
I am from tamilnadu
I will never eat cashews again never never never
You do know there are machines that do this as well right? 🤣🤣 you don’t have to stop eating them.
And yet, you won't see Peta or any other vegan organization such as Mercy for Animals talking about this because stuff like this does not go into their favor at all. Imagine what a vegan West will do to these women and I am just talking about cashews. Imagine bananas, quinoa, oranges and more.
O yes. Of course only vegans eat cashews 🤦♀️ if it was true there will be no cashew production at all or the cashew’s price will be way higher if nobody buys them except for vegans. And you know globally vegans are only 1 percent and not all of them eat cashews 😂
But if we didn’t buy cashews they would have no work at all they depend on the industry completely to survive she said just need better working conditions
I buy a bug square cashew jar from Costco every other month. Not anymore I'm done with cashews after watching these videos.
You can try pine nuts instead, they taste very similar to cashew.
Ever wonder why when you eat a little too much cashew nuts.. it feels like your throat is burning ever so slightly?
Can't this be automated ?
Anthony J. It is automated. That’s why these places in India are going out of business and Vietnam is taking over. Machines and automation are a lot cleaner too.
I was watching this video while eating chasew nuts... I didnt want to eat them anymore afterwards
@DeadlyViper211 Hmmm, why tho
Most of the cashew nut you eat come from Vietnam, the biggest exporter of the world which make up 70% of global export. Fully automated factories.
Typically western view of people from the third world. Asia, Africa and Latin America work like our ancestors in the 19th century and they will also achieve success in some time. Vietnam is the best mechanized cashew processor and they are great at handling this acid. However, there are still places where human labor is cheaper than a machine.
Never knew this. But if people stop buying them, the only source of income for these people is gone. They need help to get other work opportunities in these areas :(
Listen to what he says about the second group. They’re self employed. They want to do this. It’s the price they pay for making a living. They aren’t slaves. They aren’t forced. If you boycott cashews you’re only putting poor people out of work. Everyone has their problems. Americans have hip mobility issues because our work makes us sit all day. We also suffer from heart attacks it’s work. It’s hard. They even say they won’t wear gloves because it slows them down.
I’m allergic to cashews. I feel itchy after seeing this
Do you know if hive came on your lips after eating them because that’s what I’m experiencing now after eating them and the back of my right leg and risk have hives on it.
This is shocking I did not know that I’m not going to buy them anymore 😞
Are gloves that expensive that they cannot provide them with some??
it would be nice if the news organization, the writers, the reporter, the narrator, the camerman, the producers, the editors who all made more money from this little piece than all these women together have in years... would have passed some of it along in exchange for exploiting them for profit too.
Stop buying gross negligence shame on the owners of factories
Unless they change the Conditions, I
Won't eat ONE cashew! 😤😤😠😠😠😠😠🇺🇲
How does more money help with the acid? Or do the fair trade organizations insure worker safety as well?
Johanna Laun they don’t
The Cast system lives, and this is why it will never die
It's easier to imagine the end of the world than the end of capitalism
They can use gloves if they're not in such a hurry
Im eating cashew right now and cashew producer came from india😩
I hate how this world is. Things should be fair and right but they hardly are.
Atleast employers should provide them goggles and Gloves
at 1:09 you see some workers wearing gloves!
Sad. I'm never eating them again!
Which is sad because that's their only way of earning an income. Something needs to change!
Thats really sad, because switching to fair trade will put these women out of work.
Poor people. But the hygiene though... Wtf?
@@arithmeticmean traditional workers don't prefer gloves. It reduces working speed. Even if factory owners provide gloves old women don't use it. New employees are using it.
My dissertation topic is socioeconomic conditions and health problems faced by women workers in cashew industries. Today I went for data collection and got these information.
Im eating cashew nuts right now, but this will be the last time i ever buy it !!!!
Damn!!!
The hand damage is temporary I can assure u
All India cashew from west africa
😢😢😢
We must take care by following instructions about eyes and hands...
Before touch cashnut shells before opening for seeds.... Otherwise fingers and eyes skin... Damages...so be careful.
Yea. But america and it’s cronies are ok with this human rights.
I recently brought this issue up with a white vegan who said cashew and almond milks are better than dairy because poor cows. Dairy cows are the most pampered lifestock and this is cruel. His response? These women chose to work this job.
The audacity. He still drinks cashew milk because it's cruelty free.
Other stat says Ivory Coast.. they should use protective gear
Slave labor is what it’s called
Geebop Baluba nice of you to judge from your high horse.
Now I see why it cost so much over here they should get paid more cuz they the ones that's going through all the pain yes good and I see why now it cost so much but the get paid so little no this is sad
Niq Y. The best grades get exported for around 4$/pound give or take. ask the retailers why it’s still expensive.
casew indonesian is the best
😏😏😏😏
Forget cashews now i idnt know this about cashews ,all about pistachios now
Well that ruined cashews for me.
This is just sad !! the things humans will put each other through for the sake of money
Many are posting here, they stopped consuming Cashews after watching this. Please, dont do that. These women will loose their livelihood.
This is very sad.
That burns hand,
Thumbs up if you were eating whole cashews while watching this.
I love cashew nut but damn..I just know about this. Guess I need to stop supporting this.
Poisonous stuff. But people eat it. 🤦♀️🤦♀️
Nuts, clothing, shoes....this story is indicative of how corporate greed thrives at the expense of low paid men, women, and children around the word
0:40 Wish I could walk around barefoot at my job.
How to cure the allergy from the work of this factory.
