Thank you for all the work you do analyzing film and literature. I find it very entertaining and informative. I also like your pleasant voice and enthusiastic delivery. Keep up the Great Work!!! 🙂
Elementary is a great modern interpretation of Holmes and Johnny Lee Miller is brilliant. Lucy Lu makes an amazing Watson. Well worth a watch. So thrilled to have found your channel ... Sherlock, Marple, Poirot heaven ❤
Fantastic video! I have watched many different Sherlocks, and can recommend the American production Elementary. It is quite good. My personal favorites are Brett and Cumberbatch❤
I have read all the stories. I have watched many different interpretations. Read the biography of Sir Author Conan Doyle. Basil Rathbone and Jeremy Brett are my favorites. I have enjoyed the interpretations of Benedict Cumberbatch and the Robert Downey Jr. Vehicle.
Hands down, my favorite Sherlock Holmes is Jeremy Brett. In my personal opinion, he is the standard to match. I also loved Basil Rathbone. The more modern ones are alright. I wasn’t that crazy about the TV series ‘Elementary’ because it was too modern (i.e. switching the characters of Dr. Watson and Professor Moriarty to female).
What, no Peter Cushing? Whatever one may think about the Guy Ritchie films, I'd argue that they produced the best Dr. Watson and the very best Professor Moriarty (Jared Harris.)
I used to believe Sherlock was a real man, and after reading the books, I've become such a big fan of him!! Would you recommend some good books for Hercule Poirot?
I liked the take on him in Elementary. It was more of a police drama than a detective show and dove pretty deep into his personal life. I also enjoyed his relationship with Lucy Liu as Watson. It was also much more grounded in reality than Sherlock, which became to fantastical and strange for my taste.
@@marina_via Yes! Can highly recommend it. Judge Dee investigates in the China of the Tang Dynasty. Tried to add links to this answer but failed. You surely find him.
@@marina_via To complete my investigator list - Charlie Chan from Earl Derr Biggers (and played by Warner Oland, Sidney Toler and Peter Ustinov) is surely on Your investigator list, too? Is he?
J Brett was the best. I still go back to watch him. Also Dr Watson wasn’t an idiot in this show.
watching him every now and then too!
I still enjoy the Basil Rathbone films but it's despite Nigel Bruce, not because of him.

Just watched it again and at 46:50 You mentioned Madame Helena Petrovna Blavatsky. Have You investigated her, too. Very intersting person, indeed.
nice idea, will think about it! She was an enigmatic person, indeed

My all-time favorite is a Soviet TV series "Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson" (1979) with Vasily Livanov as Sherlock.

My #1 is Jeremy Brett! Just watched the whole series. BTW, speaking of detectives. Do You know Judge Dee from Robert van Gulik?
hm, let me think... I don't recall him! Recommend?

Tom Baker was actually pretty fun as Holmes though not as serious as some of the other takes.
