You may have made it shiny but you destroyed it you should have never used that that wire brush under drill press are you here to do was use some Polish it would have come just as nice but now it's scratched all the hell

A fine scuff pad is by far better to use than 320 or 1k grit wet or dry. Wet of course in this instance. The scuff pads are faster, give much better results, easier to use and are more uniform to name some. Give it a try.
So he puts sheet metal on, over a rock that has been bond "doed" in place? I'm gonna start looking at lamp bottoms more closely… LOL… Good job on the polish!

That was beyond oxidized and corroded. What would you have done to get that off without causing so much work?
No matter what you rubbed that lamp with, a genie never came out. No three wishes for you. LOL. Awesome looking lamp though. Nice!

I can remember my grandmother having lamps like this when I was a kid, back in the 1940's.
fred grove 1927 to 1933 for my grandpa lamp and they were nickel not brass

Not very good you beat the fuck out of the bottom, left all the dents in it, then got it shinny. You polished a terd!

Well that was a budget restoration for an item that was trashed anyway. Looks good anyway for little materials involved.

You would have been better off replacing the burner, it has some parts missing. Also the chimney was the wrong type for the lamp

He wasn't going to lacquer the rest as he wanted original brass showing, not paint.
