This video made me really really want to play a Blue-Eyes deck. So here's the deck list of the winner for the Yu-Gi-Oh World Championship 2016: bit.ly/3H8hshE
This entire situation feels like something Kaiba would 100% do. "What do you mean my deck is bad? Well, I run the tournaments, so everything that counters my deck is now banned. Might as well have a chat with Pegasus to have him make me some broken Blue-Eyes support."
@@youcanthandlemyname7393 that wouldn’t explain why he went outta his way to get Blue Eyes Shining Dragon if he could have just made his own support. He probably didn’t want to “cheat” for the movie so he sought out official support.

A bit late to the party, but Dark Magician's an interesting case because their best monster (Red-Eyes Dark Dragoon) explicitly cares about how many NORMAL monsters you used to make it. Honestly, for Dark Magician at least, I don't think it's necessary. If I wanted to turbo-charge that deck I'd just change The Eye of Timaeus to specifically mention Dark Magician so it can work with all the other support. I don't know as much about Blue-Eyes, but I think a lot of their support supports Normal Monsters too, so I'm not sure how they could make a monster with an inherent summon that is also treated as a Normal Monster at all times, at least without being clunky and just *saying it does.*

You're a little mistaken, monsters with effects did not exist when Blue Eyes came out but traps did. Dragon capture jar could put Blue Eyes in def and then you could power up a Dark Magician with an equip and take down Blue Eyes.
2:16 If you want to get really technical, there's a card called Rabidragon with 2950 ATK and 2900 DEF making it the vanilla monster with the highest stats in the game (5850 VS 5500) but Blue Eyes does still remain the gold standard for Attack points.
i wonder if anyone has made a tearlaments + blue-eyes deck, with the send-to-graveyard effects that appear on sage and stone and all that. if the tearlament fusion can be relevant with blue-eyes, that could be fun
It could probably work, but people generally didn't bother because the Blue-Eyes stuff would just dilute Tearlaments. Ishizu cards made Tearlaments pop off into being The Deck To Beat, but on their own Tearlaments is a reasonably solid deck. Any cards you add to it have to specifically synergise with it or you're just watering down the broth. For example if you mill Blue-Eyes, nothing happens. That mill could have been a Tearlaments name, which would get you a Fusion Summon.

If Konami ever decides to engineer a popular anime deck as meta again, please do it with the Egyptian Gods. I feel like the archetype as a whole has gotten SO much good support the past 2 years. Ra got Ancient Chant, The True Sun God, Sun God Unification, Blaze Cannon, and Millennium Revelation and a Ra deck is now pretty much capable of turboing out its God card in one turn almost every game. Slifer got support that ties it in with Yugi's "Knight" series of cards, Joker's Straight gets you all three original King/Queen/Jack's Knights on the board, Thunderspeed Summon will then search AND summon Slifer. Slifer also has Thunderforce Attack AND The Revived Sky God which literally draws you up to a hand of 6 cards. Obelisk got Fist of Fate, The Breaking Ruin God, Soul Energy MAX!!!, and Magical Trick Mirror, and there's already a couple really good combos with Foolish Burial Goods to send a Soul Energy MAX to the GY to search an Obelisk directly from the Deck, and there's potential for a Skill Drain variant of the deck that uses both The Breaking Ruin God and Skill Drain on the opponent's turn to Special Summon Obelisk and then turn Obelisk's effect off that would send him back to the GY. All three decks have good generic support that works for all three of them, Ra's Disciple, Reactor Slime, Guardian Slime, Egyptian God Slime, Mound of the Bound Creator, Soul Crossing, and Metal Reflect Slime. The decks don't heavily rely on their Extra Deck either, aside from maxing out on copies of Egyptian God Slime and then filling the rest with generic Links or Rank 10s, so Pot of Extravagance and Prosperity are almost always shoe-ins for an Egyptian God Deck. There's some other support out there too but it's far more niche and not nearly good enough to seriously consider running, things like The True Name or Divine Evolution, are cute and can be used but more often than not you won't be running them. How Konami proceeds from here will be interesting, I feel like all three Egyptian Gods are only maybe 2 support cards away from actually being good, they're very close, they're extremely good for a casual-based deck and imo could prove to be solid rogue decks in the near future.
This got me back into Yugioh for a while, for the legendary card that was one of the best monsters in the beginning to becomming irrelevant in competitive play to coming back in the world championship no less. I loved the game then.
My favorite memory with blue eyes white dragon was when Pokemon Go first came out, one of my friends screamed that he caught a blue eyes white dragon, and some rando chick nearby screamed "dont you mean blue eyes white privilidge"
I still use blue eyes white dragon but not as the main archetype of my deck but instead as a support card in a generalized dragon deck and I deck my main stars are azure eyes white dragon, red eyes darkness metal dragon, Horus the Black Flame Dragon LV8, mirage dragon, 5 headed drago, first of the dragons, fusion gate, dragon mirror and dragon shield. Basically I try to lock my opponents out of activating traps and spell cards while recycling my dragon cards using red eyes darkness metal dragon in azure eyes white dragon among a few other things. Also run DNA surgery set to dragon to farther lock out movement. I play old school lol
Good video, think the main thing to give feedback on is that the sound effects added in need to be tuned down a bit, they're very jarring when it happens cause of volume but also gives a sense of audio cracking/tearing.
This whole video you try to explain things in a way that everybody can follow, even when they're not deep into YGO...and then 17:30 is just a rapid fire of names with a "Notice something?" added. No, I don't notice anything. I have a few guesses what the problem with those decks might be, but I honestly don't know. Could someone enlighten me? Do all of them make heavy use of cards not released worldwide?
Heya, so weird bit of missed graphical information. This was supposed to show the Banlist, but in my infinite wisdom I didn't show it. All of these archetypes got hit really really hard. Sorry for this as it is pretty confusing in hindsight. - Adam
This was the high point of yugioh since it's start imo. It allowed bLue eyes to become relevant along with Cyber dragons, Dark Magician etc. It was an era of the return of the classics. Idk if it will ever be that good again.
In 2022, magic the gathering printed zero new vanilla creatures for the first time in the games history. It shows how far creature power creep has come in that game. In yu-gi-oh, its even more of a marker on power creep because the monsters are your main resource in the game.
Friendly reminder that Trade-In is a Felgrand card and not a Blue-Eyes card, same for Return of the Dragon Lords although yes Blue-Eyes has been one of the most successful deck running that card along side dragon maids
@@weckar That is not what I said. I said they are a felgrand card. In the artwork of Trade-In you see see a statue of Felgrand Dragon and if you look at the rush duel artwork you'll notice that the coins have a special motif which is actuel the felgrand emblem. That emblem is present on Paladin of Felgrand's sword, Herald of Creation's Staff, Guardiand of Felgrand's axe, Dragon Knight of Creation's sword and Divine Dragon Knight Felgrand's sword. As for Return of the Dragon Lords (also known translated from Japanese as "Gospel of Resurrection" ) You see Paladin of Felgrand praying/singing the chant of resurrection which brings back to life Felgrand Dragon and ascends him to Divine Dragon Lord Felgrand. These cards are very much related or part of the Felgrand series of cards. Felgrand has lore just not much is known about it. Skeletal Dragon Lord Felgrand doesn't count unless you say that Red-Eyes Zombie Dragon counts. They were both meant to support the Zombie World structure deck that was partially shoved into DIFO.
@@Yslohr I understand. I did not think you meant from a lore perspective. Plenty of cards (I'd think most) are tied to some lore in some way, even if they are generic. I just don't think that matters to most people.
@@weckar They are not just lore related but also functionally related. They all are are cards that help Felgrand as a strategy however bad you may think that strategy is. I know because I've played all of those cards in a Felgrand deck. I still play Felgrand since 2007 actually. Speaking of which Arkbrave Dragon counts and so does Darkblaze Dragon. They are the reason why it even supports Level 7 Dragons in addition to Level 8 Dragons.
I wish e-heros get this much quality support one day. Like maybe a re-train of the vanilla monsters. Like they released a neos and flame wingman combo why not a re-train of the vanilla heroes. Hell, put in a re-train of bubbleman too why not
Have you seen HERO support? HERO gets decent to good support every year to 2 years and E-HERO cards have been in meta decks since Little City and Perfect Circle
HERO cards have a _ton_ of support, though. Hell, even _my_ deck can routinely get out 3-4 monsters totalling over 10k by turn 2 (more than enough to wipe most opponents), and I'm worse at card games than Joey fucking Wheeler.

It always disappoints me that Blue-Eyes will never become a top tier meta deck because of much konami keeps giving it bad cards with 0 consistency on purpose. Cause if branded, dragon link, tearlements, sprights and kashtira can spam a bunch of monsters on the field in a single turn why can't Blue-Eyes get the same treatment?
Blue eyes was amazing until halq ban.Maybe they will print another card that helps tuners so you can send consistently stone of the ancients to the graveyard and actually play blue eyes
Tbf BEWD was meta that year together with BA and ABC... Joined OCG ACW that year with a buster blue eyes... Won 4 blueeyes matchups but lost to every other deck... Including a nothe buster blader deck.
Nice video, my friend actually owns a blue eyes deck and yea.. Maybe DMs isn't meta either but atleast it doesn't brick so much with the amount of stuff you can do. Also when watching this I think of the biggest F called Red Eyes which outside of Dragoon is even worse then both Blue eyes and Dark Magician. I lowkey love the Summoned Skull cards tho. P.s. pretty much a full archetype only player with sometimes some staples or actual fitting engines. (So no Baronne, DPE and such bs mechs in every deck)
If a few new Jet Dragon-tier cards, with equal or greater synergizing shut downs, exclusively for a Blue Eyes deck were released, at the right time without ban list yeeting, the decent-ish old support could further syngerize in just the right way to bring Blue Eyes back to worlds. Big set of ifs, but Jet Dragon is tier 0 material, were it not all by its lonesome at that level for Blue Eyes. It single handedly elevates Blue Eyes to not-total garbage. Toss in thorough bricking reduction and, like, token fodder production, hand trap searching, maybe something unique that makes it both a counter-ish to itself and other tier 0 decks like regularly available banishment, would have a place at the big kid table.
Well i got into yugioh because of season 0 and near the final era of the season 0 did show vlue eyes and i became a fan of it since when i first saw it
I think Blue-Eyes being 'irrelevant' in the early days is down to people not realising that they could actually build a deck that got it out easily. Running 3 Kaiser Sea Horses, 3 Paladin of White Dragon's and 3 Cost Downs makes the two tribute problem disappear!
One day, Blue-Eyes White Dragon will win another World Tournament. I can't predict how or when, but you will see that Dragon somewhere in a winning deck again.
I've said this under every single video where this topic is covered (mostly because this is just obscure trivia and not really looked at as a super legit win given the rigging). That final match is arguably one of the worst if not the worst world's final match in the history of the game, and that's saying something when previous finals have had FTKs in it. I'd rather watch a final with an FTK than that mirror and I hate FTK decks. It mainly is just looked back on as a horribly rigged tournament with a bad finals and a deck that would never see any relevance afterwards. They didn't even hit the deck on the banlist which usually they do because the deck didn't need any hits at all.

That sparkle made me realize that you have blue-eyes? And you are talking about the blue-eyes white dragon? coincidence, I guess? 👀
Have any other anime decks won a world championship?
Click bait! He does tell that because at the final duel blue eyes was summoned only one time!
My favorite memory with blue eyes white dragon was when Pokemon Go first came out, one of my friends screamed that he caught a blue eyes white dragon, and some rando chick nearby screamed "dont you mean blue eyes white privilidge"
It WON it fair and square
The time they printed a couple cards to specifically give Blue-Eyes meta counters? 🤔
Oh sure. Blue Eyes gets the golden boy treatment but Red Eyes just gets all the half baked hand-me-downs
The blue eyes support in the last couple of years have been beautiful
Good video, think the main thing to give feedback on is that the sound effects added in need to be tuned down a bit, they're very jarring when it happens cause of volume but also gives a sense of audio cracking/tearing.
blue eyes jet dragon is such an amazing card for blue eyes decks, get 2 of them on the field with a dictator of d and you will dominate
Ah yes, i remember using card of consonance to discard blue eyes and draw 2 cards
I just wanna add the point of the delay of pendulum domation on tcg, thing that left out D/D/D out of the picture being a high tier on ocg
Said he’s nervous even holding that blue eyes. It’s covered in his finger prints lol
where the buster blader decks at?
Thank you, now I finally have a single source for everytime people try to tell me pendulum was ever competitively viable. lol
and then, konami said that in october 2023 a new support for blue-eyes will see the light, aswell as a support for dark magician
me looking at the holiness of the platinum cards my eyes was leaking. what a majestic creature... thing

@@CardmarketYGO That was my assumption, but it's good to hear clarification! :)
(also it's sunday, stop working, man!)
This was the high point of yugioh since it's start imo. It allowed bLue eyes to become relevant along with Cyber dragons, Dark Magician etc. It was an era of the return of the classics. Idk if it will ever be that good again.
2024 will be the Perfectly Ultimate Great Moth sweep, baby.
In 2022, magic the gathering printed zero new vanilla creatures for the first time in the games history. It shows how far creature power creep has come in that game. In yu-gi-oh, its even more of a marker on power creep because the monsters are your main resource in the game.
missed a card the asslaut wyrm level 4 drgon 1900 attk i think it is when it attacks can sac it to summon a dragon from your hand
Friendly reminder that Trade-In is a Felgrand card and not a Blue-Eyes card, same for Return of the Dragon Lords although yes Blue-Eyes has been one of the most successful deck running that card along side dragon maids
Wuh? They are not archetype cards at all
@@weckar That is not what I said.
@@Yslohr Okay. It supports other archetypes better, though.
I have a Blue Eyes shirt but only cuz it was the only yugioh merch i could find that was original
Wow what a great video 👏🏻 I’m just getting into playing the game so it’s safe to say I knew very little of any of this but now thanks to you brilliantly simplifying it I can go and impress my new friends with what I’ve learned!! Seriously informative and extremely entertaining to watch 🙌🏻 Looks like I’m going to blitz this channel before our next game 🙈 reminder is set and I’m looking forward to your next video 😁 keep ip the good work
Gonna win worlds with an Egyptian god deck
I just love watching the enthusiasm that he has
What doesn't make sense to me is why pegesis makes support for a card that there's only 4 copies in the world
I love how a very slightly disguised ethnic slur "blue eyes white devil" became the most famous card in the game.
@@antonissmaff bystial package gives it some pretty nice consistency and the new level 2 tuner gives it access to baronne
Tbf BEWD was meta that year together with BA and ABC... Joined OCG ACW that year with a buster blue eyes... Won 4 blueeyes matchups but lost to every other deck... Including a nothe buster blader deck.
Orrr you Lord of D with a flute on the field....in the old days
Nice video, my friend actually owns a blue eyes deck and yea.. Maybe DMs isn't meta either but atleast it doesn't brick so much with the amount of stuff you can do. Also when watching this I think of the biggest F called Red Eyes which outside of Dragoon is even worse then both Blue eyes and Dark Magician. I lowkey love the Summoned Skull cards tho.
P.s. pretty much a full archetype only player with sometimes some staples or actual fitting engines. (So no Baronne, DPE and such bs mechs in every deck)
You forgot about ancient rules!! The card ancient rules lets you summon a blue eyes or dark magician without tributing.
Well i got into yugioh because of season 0 and near the final era of the season 0 did show vlue eyes and i became a fan of it since when i first saw it
As a OG yugioh player I just wish we can regular summon and Xyz and syncro summon that’s it’s need a face pace duel rush duels are pretty fun
I thought Blue eyes had some niche use in early yu-gi-oh as a monster reborn target.
One day, Blue-Eyes White Dragon will win another World Tournament. I can't predict how or when, but you will see that Dragon somewhere in a winning deck again.
I told Finn to play blue eyes but no he had to play pendulum
"The other protagonist's monster". You mean Kuriboh, right?
Blue eyes had another somewhat supporter card back than called Kaibaman
Still find it weird that they made a term like 'vanilla". It's a longer term then 'Normal'
I believe, and I could be wrong, it's because the colour of the Normal Monster card border is somewhat vanilla-y!
- Adam
Vanilla is probably there to also include non-effect extra deck monsters like early era fusions, etc.
"Sad Kaiba noises."
....😉
I feel like banning non world wide released cards is fair especially if they are the top tier and not all players have access to them
I've said this under every single video where this topic is covered (mostly because this is just obscure trivia and not really looked at as a super legit win given the rigging).
