Please ask any questions in the comments, as I wanted to keep the video short as we will be doing an in-depth review with proper testing after our own model arrives.

    • @robert5c

@Adam. Ewart draining the water could be as simple as coupling a hose to the port of the dirty water tank and running it to the laundry drain. In that way the tank is just a housing for the extra tube and never fills up...the base's pump also does all the work of pushing the water down the tube.

One of the huge shortcomings of any online reviewer is that they almost always never discuss long-term ownership experience (recurring costs, maintenance, repairs, performance, customer service experience etc) and after-sales service by the manufacturer during and after warranty periods. If the Review needs an addl. 60 second refresh video to discuss long-term ownership experience say one or two yrs down the lane, then that should be done as well. In my research of robot vacuums, I have not seen any reviewer address these concerns. Yet, the internet is flooded with folks having terrible experience with manufacturers in getting their broken units fixed. $1000 is a boatload of money to only realize that your unit broke after 366 days and then you are left high and dry.

I believe the side brush design was reverted back to the original because of the problems the full rubber version saw on carpet. The soft rubber arms had a tendency to flex too much and get trapped underneath the robot, preventing it from sweeping debris under the robot. On longer pile carpet, they could also get wrapped up in the strands of the carpet, with some users having to cut the brush and/or the carpet to free the robot. I've used both, and definitely prefer the original 3 arm design with the bristles on the end.

I like that the tester who informs about the product speaks at a steady volume and speaks clearly. As in comparison with many other testers, trying to get as much as possible said in the shortest possible time seems to 'eat' the words. So that one gets the feeling of not having received the information well enough.
I also like that the tester informs about the product's potential for improvement and therefore does not pretend that the product is perfect. Which of course would mean 'the hook on the door' for the department that deals with product development.
The product here is far too expensive for me, but it is exciting both to see new products and to hear about their capacity. Thanks for the good information about the product.

The last thing I'd want for the S8 is for it to tell me what the water levels are percentage-wise. The brush is kind of a big deal to me, since I have thick shaggy carpets. The rubber version from the Roborock S7 MaxV always tangled up the rubber brush in the carpet trapping the robot entirely. After I got my hands on the old style (now new style again?) brush I can say it fixed the problem for me. The robot doesn't get trapped anymore on the carpets.

    I wish
    1. Water temperature while cleaning mop should be hot.
    2. Air temperature while drying mop should be hotter. (Unless it will take longer, causing more noise)
    3. Frontal brush should be dual, not single.
    4. Lifting should be higher. (e.g 1.5 cm instead of 5 mm)
    5. Base of cleaning dock should be detachable so users can easily clean it.
    6. Size of water bucket should be larger. (e.g. 4L or more)
    7. UV sterilization system should be in the water bucket. (This should be applied to not only clean water bucket but also dirty water bucket in order to reduce smell.)
    8. Adding ethanol to the water in the bucket should be officially allowed. (Ethanol acts as a detergent and sterilizes floor, dock, and mop.)

@@RobomateTV Well, it's very competitive industry. Roborock, or any other brands, have to eventually evolve.
And what's more, from my list, number 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 are already implemented by other brands without price increase. (In fact, roborock is the one of the highest. Like Apple, it's expensive not because of feature, but brand.)
Actually my lists doesn't include cost-intensive feature. I think number 1 and 7 would be only features that requires a bit more pressure on the price. But even they would not be that much pricey.

i guess it depends on the carpet type but my s7 max ultra picks up dog hair(2 labs) without issue. does it replace vac and mopping? NO but cuts my cleaning by 75%. i find heated air unnecessary. it dries quickly by itself and i use it a couple times a day(dogs). i usually won't let the robo clean the mop because it just wastes a lot of water doing so. i'll change out the pads and wash them instead. it wants to wash before and after each use. i don't get it. it washes mop after cleaning but doesn't refill the tank. why? it refills the tank when it washes the mop before cleaning. huh? its already clean why wash it again?? many work arounds but the app needs tweaking

@@RobomateTV I do, and I can agree that I never use the mop because of how poor it performs, just making cleaning harder. I have the S7 MaxV because of its obstacle avoidance and mapping, allowing me to interfere with it less then lidar only models. The vibrating mop pad is better than nothing, but what it really needs to do is steam. If it can't steam, and it's only capable of using special soap made specifically for it, then its mopping is useless to me. Dragging a wet pad throughout the floor does not strike me as hygienic, nor helpful.
