They're pretty good at defending a choke point but only once they've setup all their army and defenses properly. Once multiple paths for enemy armies open against them they start losing.
I actually disagree, they have a really rigid city grid, and if a mountain interrupts it they're just not gonna build there. I always put them on flat land cause then they build more houses that way
that and elves long lifespans... their people live longer before dying of old age which is why they grow faster... between that and their use of bows they have an advantage.
The elves archery skills is what gives them the upper hand every time. As well as their population growth. That’s why I usually place them in a not so good starting spot
I had a kingdom (a large rectangular jungle island with a mountain) named Ethoes, home to 475 people but once I got a free gift, I received Dwarves, and I used it on the kingdom and it killed -474 people. I rescued the last Ethoesian named Gor Rosira and put her on a remote island next to the kingdom and Ethoes was gone and now was overtaken by Dwarves, now its called Ohar. I protected her for ten years until the Dwarves trusted her to be on their side. She was dubbed "Gor Rosira Ethoesian Survivor", and converted to Oharin. She was brought into the Oharin army to fight against the Dragonhead Island kingdom (Now its owned by the central kingdom of Escarnia and called Beasthead Island but was incidentally invaded and destroyed by unknown snake invasion). Sadly after a long life living in Ohar, she pasted away and she'll be remembered by a quote: "In memory of Gor Rosira Ethoesian Survivor". 😔 (she was favorited)

The thing I've noticed about Dwarves is that they're very picky when it comes to their city planning. They have a rigid grid system that either has roads in a square grid or - if you're lucky - a diagonal shortcut between houses. But if you place them in a very mountainous or hilly area, they're not very likely to build much. Even Humans don't have a very rigid grid system, because they throw their buildings whereever (with roads, of course).
It's to give the humans an chance to exist, because of how narrisitic the writers are, wanting to shoehorn an technically inferior race like the humans into an fantasy world.
@@stefthorman8548 That's an interesting take, but I always thought that it was because writers wanted to separate elves from humans culturally. I believe that movement speed and population growth is a major factor in species supremacy, movement because they can build faster and do everything at a quicker pace. Orcs also have an advantage due to their natural regeneration. So in summary, elves have the fastest movement speed and population growth as fast as humans, and orcs have normal speed and the highest population growth along with natural regeneration. Also, dwarves got screwed over when the update for how their villages were built was changed. They were changed to be more orderly, and somehow this changed how many houses you could fit into the village, so with similar sized cities, other races would still have more houses than dwarves, and more houses means more population and population growth…
Dude I love the community made maps They have such good terrain that creates some neat battles while the usual maps in the game just create a couple of islands with flat terrain and thats it
