I heard that jason was originally supposed to attend this LED ZEPPELIN tribute with Robert, jimmy and john but told them that he had previous plans and would not be able to attend the tribute with them ,and also them not knowing that this tribute was his actual plans that he canceled on them to attend . So seeing jason there playing Drums for this masterpiece iconic rock song in his dads place had to have been a unbelievable surprise and a special treat for them all... 😎💪🤙😇🙏❤️
Man, I'd have been peeing my pants, playing that guitar solo in front of Jimmy Page himself!! Sheesh. Jason was invited to attend by Robert, but he told him that he had a prior commitment that he couldn't get out of. 😉 I can only imagine the heart swell Robert probably felt when Jason showed up, sittting behind his father's kit, wearing his bowler. ❤ I wasn't sure how I was going to feel about the large chorus when they were first revealed, but I loved it! It was like icing on the cake for that epic ending. 😳😥😍👍🏻
@@LonghopeBro-ju6jl The creator of this video must have wanted to get it under 6 min to get more clicks. After stripping out an entire verse it was still a little bit too long, so decided to hack out part of the iconic guitar solo. Well, this version has a lot more views than the full version, so who cares, right? The problem is most people don't even realize that it was hacked.
@@SaneGrey952-yd6ex I've listened to the full version more times than I can count. 😉 I agree wholeheartedly that it bites when people only react to the cut versions, but I'm just happy they're reacting to it at all, to be honest. I've loved this song since I bought the (record) album *when it first came out* ! 🎶 Still have it, believe it or not. 👍🏻
In 2013, Heart did a tour with Jason's band opening for them. Heart did a set of their hits, and then did a second set that was all Zeppelin songs, with Jason on drums. It was Epic! 🤙😎
The men asked Jason if he would like to sit with them for his Dad. Jason told them he had an event he had to attend. So they were total surprised when he walk on stage. I know his Dad was so proud
Emotional this one is. Beautiful, spiritual & intense. Jason being there is also phenomenal. This was one of the very best tribute shows in history. Thank you very much for sharing this one...=)
🤘😎🤘 The first time Heart put their cover of Stairway To Heaven to recording was in 1976. A live recording from their concert at the Seattle Aquarius Club. It was actually Jason who told the Kennedy Honors Board that only Ann Wilson could do justice to Stairway To Heaven. Robert Plant agreed.
The musicians shown at the end had done covers of other Led Zeppelin songs during this tribute concert. I think "Stairway To Heaven" was the last song of the night which is why all the performers came out at the end.
Ann Wilson has one of the most powerful female voices. And her sister Nancy can play a mean guitar. This is one of the best tributes to Led Zeppelin with Ann & Nancy doing the classic song "Stairway To Heaven". No one else could have pulled it off as well. "Heart" have had so many great hits such as "Barracuda", "Magic Man", "Crazy On You", "What About Love", "Never", "Dog & Butterfly", "These Dreams", "Alone" etc.
No they aren't. Jason is playing a re-issue Ludwig VistaLite tribute kit. VistaLites were not released until 1972 and Stairway to Heaven was recorded in early 1971 so there is a 0% chance Bonzo was playing VistaLites on SWTH. He used his green sparkle Ludwig Super-Classic kit to record that song.
It is well worth watching the entire tribute from beginning to end even if you don’t react to it on the channel. Kid rock especially did a killer short rendition of Ramble On. Foo Fighters (with Taylor Hawkins (rip) singing), and Lenny Kravitz also performed. Jack black did the intro. Well worth watching!!
I will always pause and watch anyones reaction to this wonderful tribute to one of the best bands ever. And the look on their faces, you can see the memories flooding through their minds.
Let's Gooooo! Jason and the choir are wearing John Bonham's signature bowler hats made Robert get emotional plus he didn't know Jason would be there he told him he couldn't make it. You could see Jimmy mouthing the notes from the solo😂 Great reaction and Peace out ✌️ ☮️ 🙏
The best cover of any song, ever. What I always wonder when I see this is just how nervous was the guitar player when he was about to play Jimmy Page's solo with Jimmy Page sitting there.
It’s one thing to be asked to do a live tribute, but it’s another to be asked to play the most iconic song in rock n roll history, and then getting to play that song in front of the musicians that created it .
A fantastic tribute to them. Ann Wilson is a fantastic vocalist period. Way back when all I wanted was to thank her and the band for great music and to meet this beautiful woman ❤❤❤❤❤
HEART wasn't the only person who paid tribute to LZ that night, but they got the most views. ❤❤😊Jack Black, Foo Fighters, Kid Rock, Lenny Kravitz and Heart paid tribute to Led Zeppelin in Washington, DC on Sunday night as the band received the Kennedy Center Honors at the annual gala. Robert asked Jason to attend, but Jason said he couldn't because he had something else to do. Jason wanted to surprise them. Robert is Jason's Godfather.
I was sitting in class in high school when I got the news that John Bonham had died. One of several devastating rock deaths in my childhood. For me, these were more than musicians. Without getting into unnecessary details, I didn't have a great childhood. But whatever was going wrong in my life in a given moment, I could go to my room, close the door behind me, turn up the stereo with my favorite tunes and set aside the garbage that was trying to bring me down that particular day. Many days and weeks I'd come home from school, go straight to my room, close the door and stay there until bed time, only coming out long enough to eat that evening with the family. Music was something God used to keep me going and I'm thankful for it.
Jason Bonham and Heart playing this iconic song In front of Robert Planet who is Jason's godfather, John Paul Jones and Jimmy Page must have been nerve-wracking. Outstanding performance from vocals from Anne on point and nailing the guitar solo with Jimmy watching.
John Bonham and Robert Plant were more than just band members. They were close personally and family. When Robert's son Karac tragically passed John was the only one who showed for his funeral. In Through the Outdoor was only made because John talked Robert into it. We all know what happened afterwards
At the end, Jason taking that breath and looking up get's me every time. It was cool to see Jimmy Page mouthing the solo. Seeing Yo-Yo Ma, someone from a totally different genre of music, completely immersed in the song shows just how amazing Stairway is.
I'm not sure if this was already mentioned, but Ann Wilson was 62 years old at the time of this tribute, AND she was fighting the flu. What a set of pipes!
This a very iconic song done by iconic Led Zepplin. Nancy does an exceptional covering this and Ann is fire on the guitar. Needless to say, all of those involved with this are awesome. Brother, I'm so glad you didn't say that you never heard this song before. 😂😂Not sure if you're aware, but Robert and John were best friends and Jason is Robert's Godson. I believe that's why he was so teary eyed throughout this magical performance. Yeah, every time I watch this and see Jason look up to Heaven at that one point almost always gets me every time.

I've seen both of these bands in the 70's at NYC Madison Square Garden. Heart loved Zep from their beginning and played Zeps Its Been a Long Time Since I've Rock and Rolled for their encore song. Saw Zepplin the last year they toured.
Led Zeppelin heard Heart, who was largely an LZ cover band in the early 70s. They were so impressed that they gave their blessing for Heart to play their music, something they did not do very often.
When I first saw this, I thought “wow! She’s 70?!? She looks and sounds fantastic! I like the arrangement, tastefully shorter for the program.. the choir was beautiful, and I loved how they were all wearing bowler hats in honour of John.
I really like your reactions. Very enthusiastic but also very knowledgeable! And you seem like a great dude to grab a beer with. Now I’m begging you: please dig into the Zeppelin catalogue! You probably know the band but your mind would be blown. I’d tune in every time and I’m sure thousands of others will too!

I never tire of watching this and yes, I get teary eyed frequently. Recalling my youth. Feeling my age. Thankful for growing up in the classic rock era, attending concerts of who we celebrate now as music icons. So many young you tube reactors mourning the fact that they weren't alive to be part of that time. Well I was there baby, and it was amazing!🌟💖✨
Robert is Jason’s godfather, he had invited Jason to the show, Jason said he had a prior engagement & couldn’t. They are so proud of Jason, especially Robert. Jason played with the band at the (2007) Celebration Day concert, he did his father proud then too. John was so proud of Jason’s playing, he use to have him play, when guys from other bands came to his house.
This was the abbreviated version, CBS edited out some verses and reactions in order to fit the TV time slot. The full version is out there, one way you can tell is the CBS logo isn’t present in the lower right corner of the screen.
Ann and Nancy are incredible!! I went to grammar school with their cousin Grant in British Columbia, Canada! They babysat me a couple times way back when!!
Some years back my daughter to me to a Heart concert in San Francisco, the Jason Bonham Band was the opening act She got good seats close to the stage and scene I’m a drummer I walk up to the stage before the show to check out his drums. Got in a conversation about drums with a nice guy who I thought was a roadie - nope it was Jason Bonham hanging out before the show Jason’s was very nice and talkative and strangely enough knew a lot about drums. I was impressed 😂😂😂
Robert Plant & John Bonham were in a band together before Zeppelin. They had a close relationship. When Robert;s son died in 1977 John went with Robert back to England. The rest of Zeppelin stayed in Los Angeles.Another reason that Robert's emotional because John isnt there to celebrate
You mention your son playing on pots and pans. Sandra Boynton is a children's author who despised the music quality of most children's music albums. She wrote a bunch of children's songs, and released several albums, collaborating with a good arranger and recruiting a star-studded cast of singers to record them. She has a song called "Pots and Pans" on her Dog Train album, with percussion by Mickey Hart (who I hope you have heard of) and sung by The Bacon Brothers, actor Kevin Bacon and his brother. Worth a listen.
As the narrator at the beginning says: "from Heart, Ann and Nancy Wilson", Ann and Nancy are the two most prominent members of "Heart", but the (accompaning) orchestra is not the 'rock' band "Heart", they should not be confused. But, as John Paul, Robert Plant and Jimmy Page so visably demonstrate, this was a most fantastic performance, worthy of a Kennedy Center (Honors) tribute to (the members of) Led Zeppelin (how did they get their name - I don't know) - even Yo-Yo Ma was 'groov'n' in the audience😊
Robert later said that the reason he was tearing up was that he was missing his friend, John. Jason had told the band that he was not able to attend, that's why Robert jumped up and point to him when he was introduced.
You have to wonder if Zeppelin could have ever imagined that 50 years after their start, they would be listening to their own music being played with a full orchestra and a gospel choir!!!!!
Jason is Robert's God Son, and told them he had a prior engagement so he could not attend this ceremony. Robert became very emotional to find that he was performing.
"Lets Go!!!" I would have probably been thrown out of the show...maybe not. Most likely dosed moderately on psilocybin At the bridge, I would have been out my seat, just goin off. Jesus, what a performance.
You have chosen some awesome and iconic songs to react to recently. I appreciate being able to be on this journey with you. The power of music to bring people together is something I strongly agree with you about. This version of Stairway has become my favorite; I was worn out with the original.
🌸 I've been looking forward to your opinion on this performance. I've watched younger reactors that don't know much about Zeppelin react to this, and knowing that you are very familiar with everything means so much to me because it means more to you to watch this with deep introspection.
It was so cool seeing all the emotion on their faces! Zeppelin (especially Bonham) has been such a huge influence in my musical journey! This was as good as it gets!!
As I feel obligated to say every time, this is Not the full version of the song but an edited version where they have removed half the guitar solo and drowned out Anne's vocals at the end. A true shame in my opinion. Anyone who wants the real deal, just search for Full version
you should check out the whole led zeppelin Kennedy honours show many great ban paying tribute. You should also check out Jason's other band Kingdom Come they got a song called get it on when it first came out people were saying it was Zeppelin cause it did sound a lot like zeppelin

Did you catch yoyo ma groovin out.? Greatest cellist in the world
I must have missed that!! 😁
You have chosen some awesome and iconic songs to react to recently. I appreciate being able to be on this journey with you. The power of music to bring people together is something I strongly agree with you about.
This version of Stairway has become my favorite; I was worn out with the original.
Really appreciate it! Having a blast meeting all of you and hanging out!
I didn't recognize all the cameos in the crowd, but I did recognize the Obamas and YoYo Ma.
I wonder at times what Nancy's kids think about her being a rock musician. They sure had something to tell kids at school!
Jason Bonham still playing and touring with Sammy Hagar and Michael Anthony of Van Halen.
As I feel obligated to say every time, this is Not the full version of the song but an edited version where they have removed half the guitar solo and drowned out Anne's vocals at the end. A true shame in my opinion. Anyone who wants the real deal, just search for Full version
Led Zepplin was on Letterman when they all were given the Kennedy Center honors. It's funny. Check it out.
Jason also played in a band called.... Led Zeppelin ✌️😎
🤣😂 Hope they make it big one day!
Ann even had a cold
