  • A visit to March TMD Cambridgeshire in July 1987.Class 31s,37s,47s, a 56 and a25 on shed.Also long lines of withdrawn and stored class 45s and 20s.

    March was the strangest of places!
    quite remote and not what you were expecting...
    and you could always expect to see a wide variety of motive power, off almost any region if you were lucky!
    days i will always cherish!

    Wow ,what memories that bought back!! i used to visit every weekend , even went on xmas day!! always a good depot for pics!! does anyone remember 31420 and its scottie dog??? i applied that on one xmas day , always gave me a smile whenever i saw it out in service!!

      Remember that 31, great story. Misspent youth of mine wondering around marshalling yards when i could of been chasing girlfriends etc. Trains were like a drug for me, now 32 years later I’m still driving them.

    I worked there on loco shunt late 80s....can’t remember all those engines there...are you sure it wasn’t the 90s?

    Are withdrawn/stored passenger coaches left in a separate location? Seems to be just locos here.
