    Hi, can you please make a video explaining why Oman is ranked as a high oecd risk country, despite its currency pegged against the USD? This has been a constant issue for our firm when trying to offer its services in the country.

    Well explained - Dr. Abdullah

    Interesting topic. However, not sure if you can change how this pyramid would look as life is getting more expensive, salaries do not increase which leads to newly created families to have less children.
    Also, we don't really choose the gender of the baby therefore if most come out as male it is not under our control.
    Nevertheless, would love to see more content about Oman and thank you for this video!

    • @EconWithDrA

      Another video I need to make is about the gender imbalance. The pyramid includes non Omanis. The reason for the imbalance is because of the younger male population that comes to Oman for work. Thanks for watching Mazin and for your comment. I appreciate your continued engagement with my videos

    Where would you say the kleptocratic dictatorship ranks among Oman’s economic problems? Serious question.

    • @EconWithDrA
      @EconWithDrA  Год назад

      I might be biased but I would say it isn’t an issue in Oman.

      @@EconWithDrA What about wasita?

    • @EconWithDrA
      @EconWithDrA  Год назад

      @Decoy1138 wasita is in every economy and country. It’s called different things. The idea that merit is the only determinant of success is a lie. In the west it’s called “leveraging your networks”

    • @Decoy1138
      @Decoy1138 Год назад

      @@EconWithDrA Ok, but as an economist, I’m asking very sincerely whether you think this is a drag on Oman’s economy that should be a priority in improving for policymakers

    • @EconWithDrA
      @EconWithDrA  Год назад +1

      @Decoy1138 from an economic prospective we would like to have productivity and value created determine economic outcomes. That’s the optimal situation. Sadly, no where in the world do we have that situation. Some countries like to claim that is the case but even in the US bias and non economic characteristics determine your economic outcomes. See my recent video on names and how they impact your labor market. To answer your question, bias, wasita, nepotism, exist everywhere and they reduce the efficiency of markets.

    Economically oman is going great as comparing with other GCC but unemployment issues is still in Oman

  • @GaryTurnbull-b9u

    The graph proves Oman has a young population… this is in no way what so ever a negative challange but a fantastic resource for development… please show some factual figures for the unemployment levels before you talk about them in a negative way Wiki says 3%… you talk about job gaps for higher education candidates it feels like your talking about your self not oman.

    • @EconWithDrA
      @EconWithDrA  Год назад

      Thanks for your comment. I have discussed Oman’s unemployment rate in other videos, I encourage you to check them out. Not sure why you seem to be upset by this information and resort to suggesting a personal issue. As an economist, my role is to provide the data and interpretation of it. A young population can provide a lot of positives but they also need education and resources. Ignoring that will cause an underfunding in the resources they need to succeed.
