I met a quiet Pomeranian. She never barked. When she did, it was only once and everyone paid attention. I loved that she was calm yet energetic. She would wag her tail instead and was always alert. That is the perfect dog for me- calm quiet yet energetic and alert.
Some of them naturally have a therapy dog personality

Once I started going to school and working she got use to being all over the house and stuff so I think they get stop doing so once you start being away from them more and more often. I have a 2 year old Pom. He’s my whole world. Some advice.. brush your pups teeth. They are prone to dental issues. My boy has perfect teeth and it’s because I brush his teeth every second night and provide natural chews like dried beef tendons. They also need to be brushed at least every 3rd day to prevent matting. He’s the most lovely precious boy. I have some videos of him on my channel. It’s the only videos I have. And my baby would never nip me. I treat him like a prince and he’s so loving. He’s the most wonderful friend I could ever have. We love him. Enjoy your fur baby.

I’ve had 3 poms. They’ve all had such tremendously different personalities. The one we have now most related to this description and she definitely is vocal. Not with barking but with “talking”. She makes all sorts of sounds and gestures depending on what she wants or how she feels and is pure entertainment for us. She’s not as empathetic to our emotions as our last dog but maybe that’s because she’s young. Doesn’t even react when we are yelling lol. Incredibly smart dog though and knows everything we are saying. Has a mind of her own which is hilarious for a 5 point creature

My pom recently died at 14.5 years. This video explains her 'unique' personality brilliantly. Laughing my head off at 'vocalising every emotion'. As for picking up on your emotion. my pom would reject ppl I was out of favour with even though they had been kind to her. Her loyalty was in your face! Yes quiet space to recover from being a pom is important. For Zoe it was under the bed.

Pomeranians definitely are an exceptional dog breed. We live in Alaska, and the amount of worry we have every time we let them go outside is high. One time, our female pom decided that a moose on our property needed to be chased off. The moose was so scared of the small, black mass of fury bowling towards it that it didn't even try to assess if it could trample her.

Our 10 year old Pomeranian have always been the calmest and sweetest dog. Never barks at other dogs and loves to meet and socialize with humans. I find other Pomeranian dogs to sometimes be very badly behaved because of their owners, which is so sad because it gives the breed a bad reputation. Frans (our dog) has never been interested in other dogs, and even though other dogs try to approach and bark he just stands there and looks, very brave little teddy. He loves his owners and follows me everywhere, but listens to commands and knows when he has done something wrong. The never ending love from a Pomeranian is priceless

I have a Pomchi (Pomeranian Chihuahua) and I’m surprised at how many Pom characteristic traits she possesses. She’s protective of us, and guards the house fiercely. She’s very friendly to people though. She’s quite bossy and dominant. She’s also fond of having her own ‘house’ even though she loves interacting with everyone. The only difference is she’s really quiet when indoors and actually gets irritated when other dogs nearby make noise. She gets along well with my cat and is protective of him even if she’s tinier. Also, big birds are usually pretty scared of her because when they make noise in the garden or attempt to steal her food, she chases them viciously. She’s so adorable.

Being careful with them around other dogs is also a big concern for me. My pooch doesn't know he's only six pounds. Needs at least an hour of brushing every second day. You sound like a child if your mom needs to buy you one. Pom is not a good idea. They aren’t fluffy stuffed animals! Quick tips: Get them used to grooming early on. The same goes with any training at all. (Barking, etc). They are intelligent, yet STUBBORN dogs. I can't stress this enough. They're stubborn and bossy, but definitely worth it.

The Joe Pesce of dogs! I have had both a Pom and a German spitz and both had the biggest (and most hilarious) Napoleon complexes ever! My sister had to rescue the Spitz from being shaken by a much larger dog he'd chosen to pick a fight with. Lots of personality in those tiny little bodies!

My little pom is literally showing all the behaviour explained in this video, the positive and the negative. He's soooo bossy and tries to be dominant around my other dogs eventhough he's still a pup. He even got bitten once by my big old golden retriever who actually is the pack leader but my lil pom always tries to dominate him and doesn't shy away from protecting what's his which is a bit of a problem in this situation. At least he didn't get hurt much and also didn't get any trauma.

At 9 months old, my Pom is very quiet and barks only when she wants attention. She never barks at the doorbell but may do so periodically when playing with other dogs. At 5 lbs, she’s perfect for me and my tiny multilevel, 2-bedroom condo. She absolutely LOVES her crate with her comfy plushed bed and toys. I keep the door open at all times so she can come and go as she pleases.
I have many stairs in my home and prefer carrying her up and down them to avoid less stress on her joints.
Everywhere we go, she definitely grabs people’s attention, especially men who think “she’s adorable”.

I own 2 poms. They are actually helpful *kinda* one of them barks when they sense something coming upstairs. They also makes us happy. They can easily be taken around and when they are a baby that’s actually the best time to make them socialize with other people. Idk about other dogs tho. They are easy to potty train as well! And there are 3 types. Although there are no recommendations on which type you should get. They are all kinda the same. Health is the only problem. The bad things about poms are their aggression, and attitude. They cry a lot when no attention is given, they are also pretty fragile, their bite is also pretty lethal. They may want attention but that doesn’t mean you have to give it ALL THE TIME. They also need personal space. There are many pros and cons with Pomeranians. Oh and they are pretty intelligent, so do something to them so many times like surprise touching, do that many times they expect it so it ruins whatever you’re plan you’re doing. So poms are really not a recommendation to a family, but they are great for people of 2 or 3. If you want a family dog, then I suggest: shi zoo, Labrador/retriever, pug. Tell me if there are any more good family dogs. Cause there are lots and I can’t name em all.

Thanks for your info in details. We have a 7 months old Pom. He is very energetic and loves freedom.
We noted that he picks everything on the ground and the floor that includes cigarette, chewing gum, paper, Poo from other animals like horses, sheep, rabbits, birds and dogs, our name it. We noticed this behavior but we couldn’t manage to stop him from picking and swallow as he did it every single step he took.
Consequently he wears a muzzle at least on his walk outside even though he hates wearing it.
Does someone have any idea better than a muzzle? We would not fancy a muzzle for his entire life.
    Thanks for your any suggestions.
