    I love coleus! Tried to keep cuttings during winter months did not work! But during summer months whether in shade or full sun they thrived! Pinch back the cutting pitch in soul and boom you have a full garden container! Love ❤️

    Fella Missourian here! I would suspect that the leaves on the plants that were not cut are bigger because more energy went to each leaf while the ones that were cut more energy went to making new leaves.

    Pinching the center of each plant makes them bushy and much fuller...

    Love the colors on these, especially the deep purples trimmed with green. I have a dark orange and after a week or two of morning sun, the top leaves are a rich vibrant red, the bottom are that beautiful dark orange. Never knew coleus could take full sun, will experiment with this in the garden!

    One thing people can do is pinch the first 2 leaves after you start a new cutting. It makes 2 main stalks. Do that every 3 levels of leaves.

    What is full shade
    One side of my 2 storey house has full sun from morning till evening.
    Is that full sun?
    One side is hid from the sun from morning till evening. Is that full shade or low light or indirect sunlight?
    I have carport in the middle of my yard, it casts shade all day, I can still see and read under it when I lie down there out of sun. Is that full shade indirect sunlight or?
    I have a windowless fibro shed, I can still clearly see my way round in the daytime. Is that fullshade low light or indirect sunlight?

    What do you do when temperatures fall below 32? I read that these plants cannot tolerate temperatures that low. So I was going put them pots, so I could easily bring them inside in December. What’s your experience?

      I take cuttings of my favorite plants and bring them inside to water propagate them in the fall. By spring they are whole plants ready to go outside!

    Will keeping in shade affects the plant color ??

    • @vancomeros4140
      @vancomeros4140 3 года назад +1

      Yes. In my experience, the colors become light when you put it in a light shade sunlight. If you want to see the real color of the plant you should put it in direct sunlight. From morning to mid day is enough.

    In philippines you cant really put this guys in direct sunlight during summer. Most of my coleus curl in direct sunlight. In a tropical country i recommend direct sunlight in morning and shade in the afternoon
