I’m Norwegian and I came to the Middle East couple of years ago to study Arabic at the American University of Beirut. I visited Jordan and I liked it just as I liked Turkey, but my favorite country in the entire region is Lebanon . Lebanon has been a true revelation, literally. In every sense, the landscape, the mountains, the Cedars, the Mediterranean coast, the amazing history that makes Greece and Rome pale, and the Lebanese gastronomy.. ooh, to die for! Now talking about food , do you know what is the origin of ice cream, sorbet, pizza, pesto, pasta, coffee, pistachio, almond, orange? It’s the Arab world. The Arabs and before them, the Phoenicians brought these wonders to Europe. I discovered that through an expo on food and history in the city of Genoa. The expo ‘ Città e Mari’ ( cities and seas) followed by an interesting article of la Repubblica ( an Italian newspaper) they published an article ‘ Mangiamo Arabo Senza Saperlo’ ( we eat Arabic food without knowing) they list more than 20 Italian dishes that originated in Phoenicia ( today Lebanon) and the Arab world... the manoush, you were eating reminds me of my morning breakfast on the way to the university.. the best memories.. I still have the flavors in the palate. Love Lebanon

Used to have a Lebanese friend who shared his time between Bristol, UK and Paris, where he lived near the Centre Pompidou. There was a Lebanese restaurant just around the corner, so he'd phone ahead to order some typical dishes and remind the staff in Arabic that he was Lebanese, not French (!). So in we'd go to a table absolutely loaded with amazing food (including raw lamb which is far nicer than it might sound). Magnificent! Later he emigrated to the USA and we lost touch which is a shame! So, Marc, if you happen to be watching this, do get in touch. I'm now living in Berlin - Pol will tell you where.

Thanks Cecil!
While i was watching your Lebanese videos as a Turk, i felt like at home. Because all the food you have shown in your videos, we also have them here in Turkey. Moreover, Lebanese people resemble us very much. Beirut is definitely at the top of my list to visit!
Been waiting eagerly for this as I saw you on No Garlic No Onion channel... Now I get to see your side of the story...
Hope you enjoyed the video!!
