Would you rather first do a rough cut and grade in DaVinci and then export to Premiere for all sorts of edits and After Effects comps, etc? or edit fully in Premiere and leave the color grading for the last step in DaVinci Resolve? Please elaborate. I feel like, in order to grade no speed ramps, AE comps, transitions, etc are a must so that DaVinci can work fine, and maybe starting in DaVInci and finishing in Premiere is a more logical workflow? Not sure why grading is usually the last step....
except it doesn't work for me? I did everything exactly as you told, but when i imported the XML back in premiere the clips are color graded but raw, any adjustment to speed and/or stabilization is gone, so i have to manually replace every clip and reapply all the modifications that i did before grading
the only way is to choose: or premiere or davinci. hybrid workflow will always create problems. I don't like the Lumetri in Premiere as a professional, so depending on the project I choose to work in premiere or davinci for what they give me.
How well does this work if you have multicam in premiere? I use multicam for music videos, so I’d like to know if nested clips are safe in the transition. I’m assuming you’d need the picture to be locked in with your clients before color grading.
U have offline medias in export xml from premiere to davinci, or your davinci version is not compatible with premiere, or u are using the normal version of davinci
You quickly mentioned that your speed ramps from the PP timeline carried over once you moved to Resolve. Most other info I have gathered from colorists and tutorials suggests that speed ramps created in Premiere DO NOT translate properly in Resolve. Can you explain the difference of opinion out there regarding this and other effects that should be removed prior to sending to Resolve?
My speed ramps did because they were done straight on the footage. It’s just simple code on the XML that says “speed = x etc”. But for speed ramps through nested sequences they didn’t transfer. Best to be safe and remove effects before going to resolve. Most unique effects to premiere that manipúlate the footage font translate because davinci doesn’t have those functions. Great question !
But what about transition effects? Hopeless if you re-edit with some effects, have to re-do everything when you're back in Premiere Pro again. I got a lot of disolve effects in my editing. How can i Solve this issue? (sorry if my english isn't perfect, it is not my mothers tongue).
I tried this method with multiple edits in my Premiere Pro file. I could visually see the splices in Davinci, but they took in the wrong places. Any suggestions?
what happens when you have interpreted footage to a different frame rate in premiere? will Davinci read the interpreted footage correctly?

If your timeline im premiere is 25f, mixed media at 25f, 24f our 30f resolve Resolve does not open correctly the 24f or 30f media. I prefer to solve this cases before editing using with conform tools on premiere or pull up frame - Export, at 25f, and back to premiere browser
This looks fantastic. The free Davinci only lets you work with 8bit files. Will this method allow higher quality 422 10bit files into Davinci if they were previously edited in Premiere, or am I going to have to buy Davinci?
Hello! How's the workflow if I have effects from the effects tab being applied to a clip via the effects control panel? E.g. in and out glitch/swipe/pan and etc effects. Are the effects still viable once being exported into resolve and then back to premiere? Thank you in advance!
I think he said that you dont want to export effects and stop before going to davinci..

Premiere XML will take Size positons, Not all opacity effects, and Lumetri. But Lumetri isnt visible on Resolve. The courius part is, as you export on Reslove Premiere XML, the lumetri effects are there. Other effects dont know.
Hi, I've got timeline 1920x1080 and 3 fhd footage and 3 4k footage, I've tried all options, but it only import in davinci fhd footage and 4k set as media offline, but when i choose 4k timeline in davinci, then it import just 4k files and fhd media offline, any solution?
@@severusjpeg3048 Yep, actually transcode all footage shot in h.265 with lumix s5 or sony a7s3 and all this kind of cameras, to quicktime DNxHR HQX 10 bit. Editing with this files is much more pleasant with no lags, and just xml file work perfectly fine in davinci after export timeline from premiere of course nest sequences must be exported as first and replaced. and just export ready video diretly from davinci, I don't get it back to premiere but it should also work.
Yes it is normal.. what you have to do is take your XML clip from davinci and place it directly at the start of your original pr sequence...right on top of everything and the problem is solved. That's how it's done. Let me know when you solve it.
Thanks! If I wanted to send the graded projects to the editor, do I just need to send the XML file from resolve if he has all the footage? Or would I also need to include the grades clips?
Great tutorial. What if I have a Premiere Pro project shot originally in RAW with a flat profile but I already color graded it in Premiere, will it export to DaVinci in its original flat profile without Premier’s color grade? And if not, what do I do to export the footage without Premiere Pro’s color grade and with original flat profile? Thanks.
what if you have a premiere timeline and there are after effects compositions dynamically linked within it. Does the round trip still work? I dont want to add any VFX after I have color graded...
@@camicees I have to figure it all out. I have a RED Komodo camera now and everyone tells me I should learn Davinci for color grading. But I have all my Red Giant and Boris FX plugins in Adobe programs
For anyone looking with tons of text or essential graphics, you could also pop a Render and Replace on those elements before you send it over.
can you explain better please? U mean to toggle out the eye?
Just learning Davininci, you helped me a lot. Thank you :)

how many fps u use timeline on adobe premiere? cause i have issue, when im import the file to davinci. i can't open my 120fps video in davinci
Timeline is 25, you should ensure your timeline settings on davinci are the same as premiere beforehand
Thanks a lot broo✌️✌️

I tried this method but the files from davinci are so damn large, can you please help? I know it is 4k but 8gb for 20 seconds of footage is too much.
Create proxy before editing in premier pro
I changed the file to H.265
i don't see much quality difference but the file size is much more smaller.

So is it best to hold off on editing in After Effect and color grade in DaVinci First? and then you can start editing affects in After Effects?

Do you know how to ONLY import the luts back to premier pro ? not the inside files. but only luts it will save so much time.
whenver I export from davinci in premiere xml files, then these files give playback lags in premiere pro. why ?
I'm unsure about this. Maybe from the footage being loaded into your project?
Depends on which format you select in the deliver tab of Davinci Resolve and how powerful your workstation/storage is.
Which format did you select?
Thx
