Hi! I’ve never made subtitles for a RUclips video before, but even as a native English speaker, I understand the struggle with Matt’s fast talking!
I’ve transcribed it word for word, with all the hesitations they add in, as I felt like that was more true than just summarising what they’ve said. I hope it helps!

M: Yeah, so the song ‘Pressure’; thinking about how that came about... Erm, I think I was just fiddling on the guitar - I knew the album was going quite sort of synthy and quite programmed, y’know? Um yeah, it’s a lot of live band in there as well, but we’re trying to create that mix, and I kind of was on the guitar going like, “What can this do?”, y’know? “What can this do that’s good?” **laughs** and uhh-
D: The guitar, in general?
M: **laughing** Just the guitar, yeah!
**both laugh**
M: And I started just-
D: “What is this?!”
M: And I just started playing loads of riffs, y’know? I started playing endless riffs and I was like- and at the time I was erm, I was playing- and you joined me as well- we did like a- we joined this Beatles covers band, uh, called The Jaded Hearts Club, and uh, and uh, I was playing a couple of shows with them- uh, actually we got to jam with Paul McCartney... And I was learning Paul McCartney’s bass lines and I got a feeling that may have had a bit of an influence on it, cos when I started trying to learn Paul McCartney’s bass lines I was like, “Wow, these are really busy, interesting bass lines”, y’know? So that might have had- might have rubbed off in some way I think, cos when I was sat down with the guitar going like, “How can we get this more on the album?”, I started playing loads of kind of riffs and sort of single note stuff/not chords, basically. And just came up with a series of riffs that link together, it was **sings riffs from Pressure**
And the chorus, it really is quite a Beatles like bass line, it goes **sings again** - like, it’s only on the bottom four strings, y’know? Pretty much actually all the song is on the bottom four strings of the guitar, so it’s very... it’s probably very influenced by the fact that at that time I was playing the bass a lot, trying to learn Beatles bass lines. So weirdly enough, even though the album is quite futuristic/retro/nostalgia/80s and so on, I’d say that that song was probably quite influenced by The Beatles.

M: Yeah, the song Pressure ended up being one of the more guitar-driven, uh, songs on the album, and then- and then Dom wanted to add brass to it, which was a good idea. You wanna talk about that?
D: **laughs** Yes. Well I remember you showing me a really early version on your phone, some kind of-
M: I wrote the whole album on my phone, basically **laughs**
D: -variation of it, with y’know- it was like basic demo stuff, maybe some beat box, and the riff, and we just kinda thought, “How can we make that riff just sound a bit different, or add a different element to the band that we haven’t really used before?” So we thought, “Erm, let’s get some like, heavy brass”, which is something we haven’t used much in a more kind of like pop-rock song, y’know? We’ve used it in some of the more orchestral stuff that we’ve done, um, but never really done it in a kind of rock tune like that. So, added that into it and y’know, and it kind of worked and sounded, y’know, awesome, so it just adds like a different- another- a slightly different element into the song.

M: Uh, the whispering on Pressure is actually an interesting sort of vocoder effect, actually. So when I sing normally, it kind of compresses all the vocal into a kind of- what sound- it takes away all the notes/all the sort of vibrations that are associated with notes, I guess. And you end up with just this whispery, weird sound. We used it on a couple of songs, actually. We used it on, uhhh... **both laugh** We used it on Pressure! And uhh, there was something else it was on for sure.
D: On the new album?
M: Yeah, we used it on something else... oh! The Dark Side! Yeah, it’s on The Dark Side as well-
D: Oh yeah
M: That’s it
D: Pressure’s one song that we have played live a couple of times already, but it was like once- since we started rehearsing it, it was just like good straight away, if y’know what I mean? It was always kind of relatively-
M: It felt familiar didn’t it?
D: Yeah, it felt familiar and just seemed to work. **Dom starts dying**
M: And in regards to the whispering, that’s like- that’s actually a- that’s actually a special uh-
D: **still choking** Fuck me!
M: **patting Dom on the back** Get it out, get it all out, it’s alright... Is that a cut? **laughs**
