I think it’s a mighty shame that they don’t have people actually living in the castle. It should be used as a hotel (for the wealthy, because only the rich could afford it) as well as a sort of museum for tours. It would help to pay for the expenses to keep that place open and in pristine condition. (Believe me, it’s unusual.) That beautiful house was meant to be lived in, that’s what the estate was built for. Without people having occasional parties up there, it’s like a grand stage but no play to watch. The drama is all gone. It’s all just ghosts now, memories. A house, even a palace, is only as good as the people who live in it. That Roman pool was meant to be dived in. Those books in the library were meant to be read. The billiard tables were meant to be played on. Eventually, the state is going to get tired of taking care of it, if they can’t find a way to make it less of a Money Pit.

All he had to do was wait til this year and pay $1,000 to swim in the Neptune Pool lol. But honestly, W.R. Hearst was a playboy and a party guy, he probably would have just laughed to see this, glad someone used it.

Is it worth paying £1500 to swim in it on one of the special pre-booked nights?!! 🤔 Looks pretty spectacular but is it in real life?
