Thank god his mom started dating his football coach
Lmfao
Yeah thanks Matt’s mom
🤣🤣
Why?
Amennnnnnnnn
that bass riff is killer
nature taverney tichnenor doesnt get the recognition he deserves in that band hes the backbone of cage the elephant
@@theericsmithh Daniel Tichnenor ?
Agreed. He's a very underrated bassist and he's one of my favorite bassists from this century
petatap. The bassist in Cage The Elephant.
Every heard Drones in the Valley? It is the most exciting bass and gets me going everytime.
If MTV still focused on music they would have a GREAT unplugged
They have a great unpeeled instead ;)
They need to do a tiny desk
Fax fax fax
unpeeled is incredible
They would sell this unplugged to whom? Music Movies TV will became history
Everybody needs to see these guys live
they are sooooooo good live!
Matt Campbell Saw them at home in Seattle and I liked them so much I went all the way to ACL to see them. One of the best live bands on the scene right now
Matt Campbell gonna see them this summer at fpsf hopefully the festival doesn't get cancelled bc Texas weather sucks lol
Matt Campbell they're not that good live
Matt Campbell let me rephrase that
the band is great live
it's matts voice that kinda ruins it, something is up with his vocals when he's live
I can listen to this band for hours and hours.
ikr
Classical Whovian once i listened to them for 3 hours straight. great afternoon.
You got a super power listening for hours...
update, months
I thought he was british by the way he sings. He’s got a mick jagger thing going
Sara Smith nope he’s from kentucky
Yes I see this Mick Jagger influence also
Sara Smith lol he's from Bowling Green KY
It looks like if you put present day mick jagger into a de-aging filter
ME TOO I'm so surprised
I met this dude in Charlottesville VA and spoke to him backstage after one of his show's by himself and asked him rather challenged him "Dude you got all these girls screaming for you how are you not owning that and getting that?" He simply said and responded by saying " I got a girl back home." And the way he countered me in my drunkin state with a stare and a level of seriousness I sobered up quickly and changed the subject. I won't forget that moment because it reminded me of what is ment by sincerity and integrity something that I feel has been missing in artists.
That makes his divorce hurt that much more.
@@spicewitch9115 yes, because he is an honest and emotional man. He is too real, tho
Master Exploder hope you’re having a better day. Take care
@Master Exploder ur truly a fuckin idiot
@dani cali he just said he was in a drunken state. People have their dumbest thoughts expressed out loud when drunk.
There's something about him that is so rock and roll to me
His face is punk af
Being talented and down to earth.
Absolute!!!!
The hair
Must be the hair.
its crazy because that Bass riff is such a simple chord shape but the results are astounding.
WHERES THE TINY DESK FOR CAGE THE ELEPHANT
There isn't one?? If not, maybe an Audience Ted Stryker performance and interview
OH MY FUCKING GOD YEAH
that base line is legend. they were correct to smooth it out too to allow the base to stand out.
Bass
Beis lain
@@leonss2356 thats fucking based
It's spelled BAÉYSE, bro...
I low-key squealed when they first combined the two at 2:55 , it's so fucking good
I love matt and CTE, but I especially love hearing them talk about the process of creating a song. Matt is so eloquent and very well spoken. He seems to say exactly what he means and mean exactly what he says.
Ugh yeah and he does that with translating emotions into music perfectly
These guys are so down to earth, love cage the elephant!
I smoked weed on their your bus with the opener band in 2009,which 'may' have been Portugal The Man, because the band was from Oregon,
*tour, in philadelphia
These guys make me wish I had grown up making music.
Mezmer it’s never to late
His voice is so unique and raw and I absolutely love it
that bass sounds great!
Holy shit...I've been a fan for years and I didn't know Matt played guitar
Two years after this comment and its news to me too
@@SD-ui4dt two years and 3 months and this comment is news to me too.
How?
Stealing Society five days after your comment it’s news to me also
A lot of leads who just sing who come up with material know how to play well enough to make out the sound in their head they are after. By no means are they better then the guitarist in the band but they are good enough for the basics.
I love how his dad got excited for him when he was learning. Even if he wasn't practicing the "right" way, it's still really motivating to hear your dad support you enthusiastically.
*Too underrated band*
They could be the only band in the top 100 charts and the only thing on the radio and still be underrated.
Just won a Grammy. Not underrated anymore
@@kanoho2803 woah! When? And what were they awarded for?
Damn im happy they did tho
Mehrad Mousavi uhhhh didn’t dig much into it but an AWard for best rock album I think?
@@kanoho2803 noice :)
His voice is so attractive and pleasant to hear
thank god y'all quit sports because your fucking awesome!
He’s way more layed back than I thought. Idk if you’d call it peaceful or just calm
stoned
I fucking love them like it's bad
Same
I got to hang out and play golf with the band before a show in Little Rock Arkansas for half a day and I have to say these guys are soooo down to earth. This was when they had original guitarist. I was in high school and they were my favorite band so a total dream come true. They even brought us on the stage when the show was over and we just happened to meet them before the show. Still have the drink the drummer gave me, my mom begs me to throw it away lol.
I love that they talked about the process of the song. It's awesome see the collaboration and it's very inspiring. I loved this video!
I find this song so nastalgic which is one of the reasons why I like it
Matt has such a distinct singing voice, it sounds like two guys singing harmony in one voice, it's cool
Thats because it is lol, his friends sing background ish if u kno what i mean
The guitarists sing background
2:19 I'm in love with that bass line
matt is attractive and if anyone says he's ugly, thats crazyyy talk.
am i the only one keeps coming back to this because of those instrumental harmonies at the beginning?
@Jayden Buchholz I eventually found the song a while ago (take it or leave it). Funny seeing this old comment
This whole album was so surreal and mind-blowing lyrically.
Matt is such a great guy!
This song makes me so happy.
Such musical geniuses!
lyrical also
Kinda played an interview clip over my favorite part of the song.
The sound and video quality is amazing. Little disappointed with that particular editing choice.
Rican Cobain I was singing it in my head so when he started talking I was debating with myself whether I wanted to keep listening or pay attention to what he was saying, so totally agree m8
they deserve a more obsessive fan base they’re aMaZinG
I'd love to buy drinks for these guys. Love the hell out of them...
these men are incredible live. matt’s an incredible performer
I ran into Matt near Terminal 5 in Manhattan a few hours prior to a show...I saw him standing outside chatting with a girl who may have been his girlfriend (not sure) but he was so nice when I asked if I could take a picture with him which the girl was nice enough to oblige me and take with my phone; I came home and showed my son who loves Cage and he was over the moon!!!...thank you so much Matt, you are not only a super talented musician, you are also (more importantly) a good, caring person; I will always cherish that small moment we had together...ROCK ON FOREVER!
i would listen to him read a phone book
what a beautiful man, damn
This is the most underrated band ever!!!
HOLY SHIIIIIT I WANNA BE IN A BAND SO BAD
ALSO, I’M SO ATTRACTED TO EVERYTHING THAT’S HAPPENING HERE
HE’S LITERALLY SO HOT
WHY IS IT JUST ACOUSTIC GUITARS?
THEIR VOICES
GODDAMN
This band has such an incredible once in a lifetime quality that is exceptionally human and life changing. Super rad!
yes! a musician that understands theory is little! long term trombone player and never felt lile learning more than the notes on guitar and figured the rest out and here i am, crazy how learning music from a early age can help you progress faster regardless of what your playing
isn't it wild.
I learned guitar when I was growing up, I started playing piano when I was like 22 and it just came easy.
Love these guys...so humble. Plus, make great music!!
How can you not love this band
Matt's voice sounds so gentle. Love him and their band :)
CTE is the shit. Respect from South Central LA. lol
***** lol..
Very underrated band. They are amazing musicians and the lead singer has a very unique voice that goes well with their whole vibe.
Matt can’t help being born to look like a very young Mick Jagger. If we lose Mick Jagger, Matt has a long uphill highway ahead in music. He’ll be at his mountain quick! I praise this band!!
my favorite band ever
This makes me so happy !!
Love these videos so much
I love you guys
they are amazing!
What a terrific tune. Thanks for sharing.
Your awesome man keep up the music I'll keep listening

Love this!
These guys are great! Songs are awesome!...this song and its video is amazing ..would love to see them live..
Yknow there ain't no rest for the wicked money don't grow on trees...love that one too..
This was riveting. Really inspirational to hear him talking deeply about making music and expression through art. Seeing them live after melophobia was top 5 most impactful experiences of my life. I ended up going to it alone but I can't imagine experiencing it any other way. Thank you for the beauty, for helping me to see the beauty that's always there, when I couldn't.
God I love these guys.. cant wait to see them on my Bday
Underrated band, I swear! They are amazing.
This is one of the few things that makes me proud to be from Kentucky. Such a great band.
Thank God I discovered them Last week
thank god there are still people like you guys who make good music :)
This is sick!!
... thank you for this! i love this song so much ❤
THOROUGHLY enjoyed this! A little back story to the music, but not so much talking that it takes away from the actual song. Love it. Love Cage the Elephant 🤘🏻🤍
these guys have a great unique sound
Can't belive the rhythm was inspired by bulgarian folk
Love you guys ❤
They are playing take it or leave it at the beginning. That song is glorious!
Love this band omg
This dude is awsome, real musician right here.
secret weapon is backup guitar dude who hits lead singers pitch like a twin. they really hammer you with the vocals and it's powerful!
His voice is awesome, very natural stuff. Great band all around
Relate to your stuff alot. Always have since the first CD. I was in 8th grade.

This song sounds amazing in this and the official music video
Bass sounds phenomenal !!!!
