Great stories again Pete, yes story 2, sadly a lot of Thai women over 30 and especially if they have been married previously and have children are "damaged goods" to Thai men sadly and get very jealous. The one i was in the relationship with for 5 Months(Vol 108- story 2) was very much like this.
@wes appleyard, I just listened to your story mate out of curiosity as wasn't sure if I already heard it. Glad that things worked out so well in the end!
I have lived in China for over ten years and have been approached by numerous scammers in Beijing and Shanghai as well as taxi drivers who try to overcharge on occasion. The typical scammers are female and say they want to practice English and ask to go for tea like in the story. But men will approach you to come with them to look at fake bags or watches and then lock you in a room until you pay exorbitant prices for cheap knockoffs. Never go with anyone you do not know in China.
In terms of the drivers, you get your phone out and start taking photos of their taxi licence and their car and they will quickly back down. You can also raise your voice and start swearing at them in English or Chinese and they will usually back down.
Taxi scams are not so common nowadays as people use the Chinese Uber app called Didi so they can not overcharge.
When I am approached by obvious scammers now I just look at them directly and say in a loud voice in Chinese that they are scammers which attracts attention and they quickly run away. They are like cockroaches when you turn a light on.
They are also active on dating apps. Don't get Shanghaied
Peter, you are right about the woman looking after their man. My teerak she is over me asking me who I'm with but not in a bad way.I told her that she is the only one and she doesn't need to worry of me running away or doing a one night stand.She has now come around that she doesn't need to worry anymore. I know her inside out. I know her where abouts she is because she will message when she leaves work and when she arrives home and I totally trust her 💯% .We have committed to each other, and we can live our lives happily forever.

It's true, that it is very hard for a older or mature thai woman to find a somewhat decent man in thailand. It is mission impossible, because a guy who is a suitable match has many options in thailand. Most Farrangs don't understand this. Western women imbraces the hookup culture, and are competing for " Chad thunderstroke". they also fall pray for the wall at some point, around 35 - 40 . But still, it's worse for thai women. Thai women are more traditional than western girls, they are less concerned about age gap. That brings us older guys in the game when we travel to thailand.

Peter, with ACs is like this, if AC is small and cheap brand they can be more noisy. In my condo I have big one in living room and smaller one in bedroom, the bigger one needs to spin less to cool the air at a same level, while small one needs more, so the small one produces more noise. But still not as noisy as yours, I keep it on auto fan mode at 24c.

Story no 2 yes, older girls tend to be very insecure / & have a jealous nature . My gf has started to question at times what I do in the daytime .. 🙄

Great to see that you're settled back in your new full-time home Peter. I hope business class treated you right on the flight. A great selection of stories. Regarding China, I know that in Beijing a popular scam is for attractive girls to approach tourists around Tiananmen Square, and suggest going to a tea room. There you will be heavily over charged, and violence will occur if you don't pay up. That last story is a tragedy and he was lucky he just had to pay for it to be over. I agree I'd run a mile if a girl said she was undergoing STD treatment. But the HIV rate amongst Bangkok Ladyboys-for-hire is around 30%. That's like Russian Roulette with 1 bullet in a 3 chamber revolver. Madness.

The Majestic hotel just around the corner from Soi 4 (Nana Plaza) is OK and not expensive or even the Nana hotel on Soi 4.
