The Polaris is better engineered and the difference between the two axles makes it hard to button out but the cam am those look better and as long as your not thinking of pushing it to the limits is a better option
I looked at the mavericks and the RZRs last year, I really liked them both, I went with the maverick due to the 8" of extra width. I ride with my brother in law or my nephews most of the time, we are big guys and we dont rub shoulders near as bad in the maverick as we would in the RZR.
Most of us appreciate a low-key, content-filled presenter when researching a purchase. A loud, boisterous hype man who ignores the negative points is the last thing I want. This guy sounds like he knows what he's talking about - the loud people are the ones who sound like they're reading a specs sheet.
After driving both on wooded trails there is no comparison. The RZR sits upright where you can view what's over the next hill. The Can Am feels like the bat mobile, which looks cool, but you can't see anything when navigating trails. The hill climbing is hands down for the RZR. I will give it to Can Am on the open (flat) trails. It handles nicely. If I lived out west I would really consider the X3. Living in the Mid-West I choose the RZR without a question.
Good comparison. If you're going to be in the mountains/hills/forests go with the RZR, if you're spending most of your time in the desert or wide open plains, go with the Maverick.
Can Am will NEVER top Polaris in the SXS world...unless they somehow get enough sense to do away with that ragged-ass "Visco-Lok" diff, pure garbage!! 🤮
Every time I go to the mailbox and get out another recall disguised as a service bulletin for either my RZR or General I find myself closer to switching to Can Am.....
For $27k I think I’d buy a nice used Jeep or 4Runner, trick it out for off-road have heat, a/c, a vehicle that can drive 100’s of thousands of miles, and don’t have to trailer it Home. The only way I would buy one of these things is if I was pretty well off. Don’t get me wrong I think they’re pretty cool but for the money it’s just too much for a toy that is gonna be outdated and might not last 5 Years.

Can am Macerick X3 IS AND ONLY IS A SAND DUNE MACHINE, lower cage longer and wider base is designed for better cornering at high speeds. But it cant race in the trails!! RZR can ROCK CLIMB, TRAIL, DUNE AND MUD. Here in Texas we trail and mud. All those stories you hear about RZR breaking down is because they paid less for their machine and actually beat on it.

The price of these machines has just gotten flat out ridiculous! Sadly, it seems that trail riding is becoming a rich mans game. Which to buy? Easy - buy the Polaris and sit around the house wishing you could go riding while it sits in the shop waiting for repairs due to manufacturing defects, all the time calling the dealer to argue about warranty coverage, OR.......buy the CanAm and go have fun!

Still cheaper than shelling out 50k for a prerunner. At least these are easy to finance . Polaris knew what they were doing. Give more people the ability to buy an awesome desert toy. Cam am and Yamaha seen what they were missing out on and jumped into the market.
Hi guys, been a fan of dirtwheels for 30+ years now! Just want to clarify something about ground clearance and travel. With the long travel of the UTV's you have to consider the "droop". Even if the ground clearance number is smaller than the complete suspension travel it doesnt mean that you're gonna bottom out by the skidplate! It's only mean that you're "droop" is alot more than what you find on a atv or motocross. Trophy truck are all like that. Right?

I’m a Polaris rzr guy I have a Polaris 800 rebuilt into a little buggy but I might have to with the can am for it aggressive looks and I have a Polaris I also really like that model
Both are fantastic machines but Can am has always felt more premium and this really carries into the x3 especially at the high price tag these vehicles carry. I have always favored the RZR viability especially over the x3 as well as Polaris 4wd. I am not a fan of anything but a locked front diff for a pure off-road machine. Polaris is going to need a new Chassis for pure sport though the Can am x3 is a huge win. It looks and feels premium everywhere. The Polaris on the other hand doesn't seem like enough at 26k.
Fancy schmancy electronic suspension and you'll still have to go with aftermarket dual rate springs to get the ride quality that the Polaris should come with from the factory 👎
Been buying Polaris products since 1987... the CVT's are bulletproof. The transmission is basic and performs as needed. The front diff is simple and reliable for 4 wheel assist. You beat any machine beyond what its design for parts are going to break. Drive through water over the driveline and electrical and mechanical problems are going to develop. Also with the 'rear fenders and rear body". Pull the pins and undo the latches and the complete front and rear frames become naked like a race car front end!
First time in a Polaris. I just took a RZR on Hog Canyon 1, 4 and 5, and Barracks. Compared to Maverick X3 DS from Sand Hollow to North Rim. The question I had was how would I feel (comfort and mental focus) after driving several hours straight. I favor the Can Am.
@@gsfbffxpdhhdf7043 Neither of those are built for sport. Try these whoops at these speeds and you'll need to replace the arms, knuckles, rods.... Apples and oranges bud.
You can't drive a 72 inch wide machine on trails in Minnesota so I would like to see how it compares to a 64 inch wide can am. Of course if you have that much more width it should corner better lol also, I watched a ton of can am guys over New Years in Glamis spend about 2 hours changing belts out in the dunes, and I saw a lot changing belts. I had to give an artic cat guy a ride back because he couldn't change his belt in the dunes either. They sure do look sick and are have lots of leg room. I also watched a 4 seater RZR burn to the ground. I just upgraded from a Rzr 900 trail to a turbo dynamix and so far I love it. I sure did think about buying the can am tho, maybe next year.
For me I will stick with my polaris 1000 I don't need a almost 30 thousand dollar sxs. I also ride fairly slow so the can am is probably insane from high speed runs and it also looks really mean. Keep in mined I just pick which ever sxs is better each year
There is NO competition! Can-am MavericX3 hands down is put together BETTER and more durable. The Polaris RZR If rode to hard will break shit all the time. I know i have seen it. Buy a Can-am!
Sure the Can Am would be better if it could rock climb or drive through deep mud as well as the Rzr. All around the Rzr is far superior on any terrain. The Can Am is limited to Jeep trails because of the width, the Rzr can drive on any quad trail or Jeep. FYI that’s a stupid generalization, anything will break when driven too hard.
Macrick looks mean! I rather get a wild looking machine since the difference is not that big. I was puzzling over Maverick or Rzr but made up my mind for 2018 Maverick X3 turbo R!!!
No not against it! I live in TN and polaris will out perform can-am all day in slippery rocky conditions! This jus seems like a canam commercial and not an equal comparison!
Nay, nay on the unusable suspension on the Can Am. the ground clearance has nothing to do with the travel of that front end. But I suspect the person giving the comparison is a Polaris fan.?
i have 2 give points to can am for styling the maverick looks aggressive AF
Plus with the wider track it's probably less likely to roll and looks more stable.
After seeing the prices you can keep them both 😀
Silent but Deadly did you give in yet to the crazy prices? I want one bad, but I can't justify these crazy prices
HURT 1 nope 👎. I got a new Polaris ranger 570 for the farm but im gonna have to save for years if I want a toy like this that doesn’t do work 😞
Silent but Deadly i know what you mean. I'm kinda looking at the Honda talon since it's cheaper. It's still 20 grand though
HURT 1 the Kawasaki has my eye as well as the Honda. The rzr is amazing but never driven an x3, I’m sure the Japanese machines are very smooth as well
Silent but Deadly talon is just so underpowered, but with that new turbo being offered, it looks mean.
The can am looks 10 times better, i vote can am..
The Polaris is better engineered and the difference between the two axles makes it hard to button out but the cam am those look better and as long as your not thinking of pushing it to the limits is a better option
The Polaris looks like a box and doesn’t looks sporty can am looks so aggressive
suspension clearly works better too

In the RZR my knees were confined, hitting on the inner console with my feet tucked too close. Much higher fatigue factor in the RZR vs X3.

if you drive it like this does it need extra maintanence???
Hold up why not use the turbo s?? It has a better over all frame set up over the dynimax edition.
Are you able to drive these vehicles down a city street ??
I sat in both of these UTVs and the cam am has more leg room, great for over 6 foot people
You can have more suspension travel than ground clearance - it's called down travel... and it's a good thing.
Can these things be chipped? To unlock more BHP?
Absolutely!!!!
This is like comparing a rally car to a Jeep. Honestly two different classes of vehicles.
Is there a 2019 with both at 72” wide video yet?
nope. the facts are facts and can am is just a better machine i just rode in one 2 days ago and it was a blast.
i dont regret buying the can am, however for my son i only bought a rzr 1000xp non turbo to practice with.
Are these trails between Borrego Springs and Salton Sea in So. Cal?
Aside from the shocks what does the dynamix do different than a regular 18 turbo?
at first i thought it was dyna-mix, like its a protein shake or something hahaha
Can Am all day!! Like the stance of the maverick ..
You want to try them out come to Five Points West Virginia Agnes you won't be disappointed and you'll see what they can do and what they can do
$40,000 + in Australia ... get a v8 put in a jeep do it up for $5,000 leave these toys at home 🤣🤣🤣
There is NO competition! Can-am MavericX3 hands down is put together BETTER and more durable. The Polaris RZR If rode to hard will break shit all the time. I know i have seen it. Buy a Can-am!
Try not to bend your can-am frame too much.
Joe G .....
😂😂😂😂😂😂
Sure the Can Am would be better if it could rock climb or drive through deep mud as well as the Rzr. All around the Rzr is far superior on any terrain. The Can Am is limited to Jeep trails because of the width, the Rzr can drive on any quad trail or Jeep. FYI that’s a stupid generalization, anything will break when driven too hard.
SVT not really, the XP 1k and up like the one shown in the video is 64" wide....ATV trails are 50" only, meaning you need the smaller RZR 900.
Ian DePalmer The Can Am is 74 inches wide.
Polaris just had to do is...... Increase width, length and lower it a little...
jl644 for what reason? To make it a duner ? The X3 couldn't touch the RZR in the woods up here in the northeast where I mostly ride..
That’s true but these machines aren’t exactly for the woods
Why, X3 can barley make it thru the trails as it is, the trails would have to start restticing them to jeep only locations
I'm still holding Kawasaki's beer.........
Dirrty Murph lmaooo
Any one that thinks giving up 6" of wheel travel can be overcome by AWD is not being objective
Can you make any of them street legal in California?
Macrick looks mean! I rather get a wild looking machine since the difference is not that big. I was puzzling over Maverick or Rzr but made up my mind for 2018 Maverick X3 turbo R!!!
Now do a comparison on the east coast with muddy rocks and hills !
big m sure against the xc? Don't forget the xmr was just revealed. Rzr is cheaper and a better aftermarket for now.
No not against it! I live in TN and polaris will out perform can-am all day in slippery rocky conditions! This jus seems like a canam commercial and not an equal comparison!
The can am has a real security problem with the rear suspension joint's.
I noticed the Polaris leans too much on turns ... just my observation 4:45
Nay, nay on the unusable suspension on the Can Am. the ground clearance has nothing to do with the travel of that front end. But I suspect the person giving the comparison is a Polaris fan.?
This guys voice. . . I’m sleeping now
