The 670 is probably the best engine Bombardier ever made, we still have a 98 Summit 670, will run with anything, it has 7500 miles on untouched bottom end, with new dual ring pistons it has 145# of compression and pulls like a freight train, endless torque. The only reason I replaced the pistons was because I read the ring locator pins were starting to fall out on some engines with high mileage. When I had my 800 HO the 670 would run side by side with it up to about 80mph.
My 670 has 145 Lbs of compression as well. Up to 80 MPH its a beast than other sleds may slowly creep by. But I would rather be fast up to 80 than slowly climb to like 100-110 MPH
Yeah definitely regret selling my 1998 mxz 670, never let me down, with a very good powerband for the trail. If only that sled had reverse I might still have it, always started right up with over 7000 mi. Unlike the 2005 mxz 600 ho I sold with 5000 on it....
I also have a 98 Summit X. In 2018 I had to replace both pistons - previous owner put in air filter pods and a stupid can. Replaced the pistons, sourced original pipe and airbox and HOLY COW did that wake that sled up. Put the sled in the local drag races (SnoMoDays) and I WON the 700cc class!
I have a 600 eTEC my brother has a 670mxz I SMOKE him out of the hole come on now the E-Tech is way better!!! I've looked at a lot of Eteks, Ive see a ton of etex with 6,8,9, 12 and 13,000 miles on them!!
@philllsxga.7737 biggest problem with the xps is their very uncomfortable to ride. I've talked to alot of people on marketplace bout them and they said they downgraded to something older just because of the seat
Haha there's no way a 600 etec has more hp. I owned both sleds and my 670ho was the faster sled. Now if there was even a small bump then I'd wanna be on the Rev xp chassis instead.
@@Subydude-rp9yv man come on you're telling me a heavier sled rated less horsepower is faster??? get real!!! Race my 600 e tek with your HO!! I know that was a good machine for its day ... for its day...
@@philllsxga.7737 I dunno man. We played with our 670 clutching and it would hang with my dads 2001 800 mxz every day. My etec just wasn't a star performer, even after the clutch kit. Was a great sled, just not the fastest thing on snow.
@@Subydude-rp9yv mine jump's immediately two sleds on my brother and stays that way till 80... The rev platform can put the power to the ground better... That's the design of the chassis.. The 670 is impressive it just can't come out of the hole like I can..
@@philllsxga.7737 you anywhere close to Maine? Id love to line up. My F7 would just barely keep up with my 670. No hate or grudge racing just want to see

Good thing he was only running the regular 670 and not the HO....
Its a beast....mine loves taking down the 800s...
I had a few 670s in my life and I stopped buying ski doo when they quit making that motor it was my favorite
I run 670's and 670 h.o.'s in my 85 honda odysseys. Ran 583s and 617s before those. They're great engines
That was quite a beating.
The muscle sled era not suprised
I will take a 670 over a etec every time

Lol my aunt has the same exact 670
670 HO was fast, too bad it was in a garbage chassis. Way too tippy and rode like a buckboard.
I run them in my 85 honda odyssey mini buggies. They're amazing.
What do you mean garbage chassis. The s 2000 chassis was one of the best.
Nope!
My brother and I have the exact same sled's.
My Etek is just a smig faster...
Yeah okay.. race my 600 Etek!!!
Okay okay all right a lighter sled with more horsepower come on I wasn't born yesterday!!!!
