This is the greatest bike I’ve ever owned. I lightened it by replacing the exhaust with yoshimura pipes. I put a power commander air filter in it and got rid of all the plastic around the plate with an eliminator kit. Chromed out the frame and rims for the look. All I gotta say is: 110mph in first gear. All the legends are true.
It is different, that is an understatement. The most comfy bike I've ever ridden and owned for more than 20 years through its interations. Many will conclude that the reason for purchasing this bike is for the power, it isn't, its the comfort combined with power and torque you can use but will never fully need in terms of what it can do. It is so comfortable and versatile that it is still my favourite bike for touring and round town. The look? you love it or hate it, I love it, so strange yet convenient and obviously streamlined. Big fuel tank, better mileage per litre than I get with other in line fours or twins for that matter. Its a 'go all day' with comfort and convenience bike - so underrated as a travel companion. The thing that is different is the immediacy of the power and torque. You are always going faster than you think so you have to beware of where you are on the road and what speed you are doing and what the braking can deliver. However, it can also be ridden like its a kitten. I actually ride slower at times around town on this bike than other 'wanna be' sports bikes, just because it can do whatever you want and everyone knows it.
These bikes are ridiculously fast, way beyond anyone's riding capabilities, and totally unnecessary. I've owned 5 of them. Now looking for my sixth.....

Had a 2002 for six years and just over 50k miles. Smooth usable power with reasonable mpg and tremendous reliability. Wish I had the time and garage space for one again. After the kids move out.

I bought my first bike in 2000, a brand new blue/ silver Hayabusa. Salesman told me I wouldn't live 2 more weeks, lol. I still have it. I've bought, sold and traded several bikes since but I've never considered parting with my Bus. It's got the normal bolt ons but I still have all the original parts. I'm really hoping Suzuki brings it back this year and blows everything away it did originally so I can add another to the garage.
Back in 2006, I was looking to get back to riding. I sat on the Busa, and my 6'3" frame just could not get comfortable. Sat on a ZX14, and my butt was happy. In a way, I got a LOT of attention with the ZX14. A lot of challenges too whenever I rode. Don't remember losing any.... but the Busa was the first bike I looked at.
@mike derocco How how to review them. Been watching a few of these videos to see if this channel is worth following, and clearly not these videos are crap.
I'm older so I was looking at some sport tourers and some, like the RT1250R, is freaking fast, as you know, but I was surprised. Loved your review on the Suzuki M109R for same reason. Bless you.
Even though the second gen bikes have almost 25 more hp. I definitely recommend 2008 and above because I still spin above 7k rpm in 1,2, in rain and occasionally 3rd in heavy rain in c mode. Although I know not a lot of people ride in the rain but I had a 500 ninja and then bought a new 08 busa and learned to ride A mode in about 3 weeks
I had a B-King for over 7 years with the 2nd generation 1340 cc Busa engine. The bike was very fast but so easy to ride slowly, the engine was that tractable.
I’m straight up a KAWASAKI guy. My top choice is the ZX14 for looks, power and #1 comfort. I have love for SUZUKI. I like the fact that they seem to have more colors to choose from. That’s the only thing they have over KAWASAKI. This Busa sounds like a 4 cylinder Ford Fiesta.
Don’t get me wrong the Hayabusa is an amazing motorcycle - I kept a 2005 one for a year and had some amazing experiences on it, but the reason why I traded it in for the Kawasaki ZZR/ZX-14 was that it came with no electronic rider assists like ABS or traction control. Even the newest gens don’t and that’s down to Suzuki’s apathy. The difference between having and not having driver assists is huge from a safety and confidence standpoint on motorcycles with such performance levels because frankly let’s face it not everyone is going to be a 100% competent a 100% of the time.
Michael maney yeah I have a 2018. Heavy bike but acceleration is pretty awesome. Especially going from a 600 to this. I do miss the 600s handling from time to time.
@@brutusvk2 tell me about it I jumped from an 87 honda shadow 700 to a 2016 1441R. Big bike like you said but it preforms as well as any other track bike even though it outweighs most of them and the power range of the 1441R makes it a heavy hitter in the bike world, yeah the ZX10 and 12 is the preferred track bike because it weighs less and the h2r is just a supercharged ZX10. But when put through an all around performance test the 1441R hangs with the best of them and I believe is number 3 on the top fastest stock bikes in the world list
Man thanks for the content. You forgot one bike in the league of the Busa’. The 2000-2005 ZX12r. I check regularly to see if you’ve reviewed one. I’d love to see it.
Actually ran in the magazine was doing good Till middle of the article Kawasaki van pulls up takes bike away.comes back said went from being the best bike to the worst bike found out later they threw the computer limiter. Since Kawasaki was the first one to ever to do it the Hayabusa has been beating it in the articles ever since. That was just the bike that the magazine had for testing in year 2000. Found this out in the next month's magazine.
At 6'2, I don't fit on most sport bikes, but this one looks big enough to accommodate someone my size (given you said you're 6'2). Don't have to ride it like you stole it to enjoy a bike like that either (although I do get the appeal). I've always liked the big cruisers, Honda Valkyrie Rune, Kawasaki Vulcan Vaquero, Victory Vision, etc., but the Hayabusa just draws my attention every time I see one.
Buddy at work has one same color as this one, it is just awsome to look at. Like art, I'm a old cruiser guy, but always stop to look at his, looks very well built fit and finish.
Another bike that was in tge same category as the Busa (before the zx 14) was the ZZR 1200 (from 2002 to 2005) has one for about 8 years and sold it with over 80k miles on it. Ergos a little more relax than the Busa. Pull like a train to about 170 then not as much.
Great all around bike with lots of power. Vary comfortable riding and it doesn't feel big and heavy when rolling. Owned mine since 2013 and still get that impressive feeling when riding. I'm 5'8" 125 lbs. so smaller than average I guess. I prefer it over my GSXR 1000.
The engine was based on the NA 1.3L G13B with 120bhp, Suzuki Swift/Cultus GTi. A 1700lbs car with suspension made to maximize grip in cornering, making it a Pocket Rocket. Altough it's 30 years old, it still embaraces a lot of modern cars due to the engine.
College buddy bought one as a first bike during our 2nd year of college. EVERYONE told him not to get it. Yup....wrecked it in less than a week. He's lucky he's still walking.
Zx14 had significant changes in 2012. Bumped displacement from 1352 to 1441. Ride modes and KTRC were also added. My research shows the zx14 to be the better and more stable bike, but the Busa was better known.
@@2Timone7 There is truly so little between the bikes I get bored of one rider slagging off the others choice. Let's be grown up and accept these machines for the incredible bikes they are. I had a 2006 limited Hayabusa and its the only bike I sold I regret. It was the white/silver version and I LOVED it. Had to sell it because of a bad back. It became uncomfortable to me, so I let it go. The bike was FAST and I only had it up to about 145mph or so. Just an FYI... I have had Suzuki, Honda, Harley and Yamaha and the ONLY bikes I have ever had problems with were the Harleys. None of my bikes ever left me stranded but I could write papers on all the issues I have had with the Harleys.

VIllain OP I had a fuel pump fail but it was 21 years old. Like anything keep it properly serviced and it’s got every chance. These Busas will can rack up serious mileage with no real issues.
Hey Sean . You do awesome videos . I'm going on 49 next January . Been riding since I was 8 . Didn't get my first road bike till I was over 30 (self preservation?) . 2001 Honda CBR 1100XX . Black . I still love it ! Bit of trivia : Honda attempted to design the first road legal motorcycle capable of 300 km/hr . Got real close, but no cigar . 1137cc mind you . Suzuki launched the Hayabusa . Earlier models did 300 easy . Bigger in-line 4 obviously went faster . Strange 'Japanese humour fact' : I ride a Blackbird . Suzuki named their bike Hayabusa because it is a bird of prey , known to eat blackbirds ... Cheers .
I have a 2006, I bought mine with 28Kmile and I love mine. I had a 750 until I hit some grabble on the twisties. Then I only had a budget to buy a bike and believe it or not the Hayabusa was the only one I was able to buy around in my area. I bought mine for $3,800 and I love mine for sure. And I ride as in, ride, mine. I hit the our Bay Area Twisties here in CA.
I'm on my 2nd gen 1Hayabusa, the first one was stolen I agree with everything the guy says, they are a superb machine and can hold their own today even when up against newer, more powerful machines. They lay the power down so efficiently from low rpm's and the long wheelbase mean the front doesn't lift easily. By the way, it sounds like it's running fine to me, I think you'd be aware if you only had 3 cylinders, give the guy some credit !
Had an XX prior. Funny thing is the natural prey of the peregrine falcon(hayabusa) is the blackbird. Like, in nature and stuff lol. Any ways, before my first gen busa, I had a bird and a viffer 800.Lost the bird(regrettably, but u understand the insurance, at least in SoCal) and bought the LE Busa and kept the Honda VFR for 1k plus mile rides( as it is no secret, Honda is the most reliable and comfy machine period). I still miss that bird, but in total honesty, the xx set the stage, and Suzuki perfected the hyper bike, lol, I hate that name but facts is facts.I will have another Bird when I can do 600/mo ins on both, but for now, the Busa is supreme. Sorry ZX boys but u know I'm right if u ever rode one.
With all respect Sean, I have never seen you accomplish a good launch. My only practical experience is racing motocross in the 1970's where we would always dump the clutch at open, screaming throttle. I believe that you could improve by a full second on almost any zero to sixty test you have filmed. Do work on that. Otherwise, I love your video reviews.
He does better on the cruisers because he runs a road glide. It's such a powerful bike it's gonna take a few times to know what rpm to launch from. Almost everyone that own that bike could do better. Gotta take some time to get to know her.
I own a bone stock 2000 Busa and I am 48 years old and rode my whole life, I own 8 different bikes including a full bagger Harley and I can honestly and unbiasedly say that the Busa is my all time favourite bike! I also have a zx12r that is probably a tiny bit quicker but not as comfortable for a taller guy, I highly suggest if you ever get a chance just ride one ! You will see what I mean! 😄👍
They're heavy but yes I've seen plenty on track, usually leaving big black lines out of bends and halfway down straights. They are hard to pass - outbrake them into the bends and watch them cruise past you down the straights again. Fun though.
I'm in my first month or so as a motorcyclist...and just recently hit 70mph and to think to go more than double that speed, mind blowing. Yeah, I'll stay here at lower speeds....lol...for now ;)
What I really love about my Busa is the sound. Nothing against the Kawasaki....but I can't stand their sound no matter what pipes you put on it. I do want to give it more balls though and put a turbo on it. However, between the dentist bills and now this Corona BS....Not going to happen for some time now. :( He is right about the real power kicking in around 150-160. It almost feels like it suddenly grew an extra engine or something. Caught me by surprise the first time. I frankly have a hard time staying within the speed limit. It is so smooth and gentle in the lower speeds. So, riding around town is a delight. I get a lot of attention when I'm riding around. It has the distinctive Busa style that you either love...like I do and so many others...Or you hate it. Frankly, I think the hate squads came about because some famous moto guy said he thought the styling was ugly when the Busa first came out. The sheeple, being sheeple, hoped on board the haters express thinking they were cool for it. JMHO

The old busa has aged pretty well, we used to call it the "eye-abuse-a" when it came out, now it looks much better than many contemporary bikes.
I learned how to ride on my dads Busa, went from a 80cc dirt bike to that, then bought a 2006 Gsxr 1000, now I own a 2018 Gsxr 1000R
that 0-60 though.... lol
2 seconds of it was you slowly letting out the clutch after not even revving it very high.
@mike derocco How how to review them.
Been watching a few of these videos to see if this channel is worth following, and clearly not these videos are crap.
The demand for Hayabusa in India off the roof.
Although I know not a lot of people ride in the rain but I had a 500 ninja and then bought a new 08 busa and learned to ride A mode in about 3 weeks
youre spinning on a stock busa get some decent tires
I had a B-King for over 7 years with the 2nd generation 1340 cc Busa engine. The bike was very fast but so easy to ride slowly, the engine was that tractable.
@Peter Angles It was truly brilliant to ride. I live in southwest Portugal and did several Spanish trips. It made a great tourer.
Can you do a video on the upkeep on a super bike. Like cost, and how often you need to do it. It would be much appreciated.
I found the 1999 version with only 25 k km s...I am a 55 years old horse but soooo happy as a baby now...
I remember the 1st or 2nd gen Hayabusas coming with twin exhaust. This one has just one and it looks like it isn't using all of its cylinder.
Ur tripping there's 2
I’m straight up a KAWASAKI guy. My top choice is the ZX14 for looks, power and #1 comfort. I have love for SUZUKI. I like the fact that they seem to have more colors to choose from. That’s the only thing they have over KAWASAKI. This Busa sounds like a 4 cylinder Ford Fiesta.
Great bike!! Rode one for 7yrs. Work commute and pleasure. Got stolen from me but I plan to grab another.
What's the longest you toured on it in a day?
Rode around with friends one weekend & did about five hours of ride time. Awesome time!
Thats exacltly why i switched from Gen 2 Busa to 2015 ZZR1400. Now i have Gen 3 for 1.5 years- amazing.
Something sounds off
Btw, the zx14 had a complete refresh in 2012. Totally different motor.
Yeah it went from a 1396 183ish HP to a 1441R 200HP
Michael maney yeah
I have a 2018.

I think he did mention it but edited it out because he did say "it has three competitors" before only listing two of them.
The ZX12R is an amazing bike. I am thinking about getting one, however they are hard to come by.
Actually had the magazines were it won every contest against abusa till they put the computer limiter on it
@@jackcunningham4876 I think after the 2000 model (which was unrestricted the first year) it was limited until the end of production in 2005.
This is my childhood dream mechine... It was nice to hear about it from you 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
I like how the speedo was blurred. 😆
Busa is GOATED
Buddy at work has one same color as this one, it is just awsome to look at. Like art, I'm a old cruiser guy, but always stop to look at his, looks very well built fit and finish.
This is definitely going to be my first bike.
Good luck 👍🏽 lol
@@xy-qh7hr update: I'm fine, no tickets, no drops, no accidents. I ride responsibly.
Another bike that was in tge same category as the Busa (before the zx 14) was the ZZR 1200 (from 2002 to 2005) has one for about 8 years and sold it with over 80k miles on it.
Ergos a little more relax than the Busa. Pull like a train to about 170 then not as much.
BTW y’all my friend said his ZX14 was like a Cadillac on 2s.
Im owning 1 now bro and have been riding it for about an year and never once regret riding it up today...
Had one for ten glorious years! Great bike, sad I had to sell it 😔.
Same here. Its been a couple years now. Really want another
Why’d you have to sell it

Great video - amazing bike. I like the Gen 1 more than Gen 2. The blue and silver color version is the best. I classify it as a supersports tourer.
Love and like for Hayabusa topic king of speed .
2:55 - this is exactly why I am a fan of this man.
What's the fuel range if you don't hammer it too bad?
Don’t forget the zx12. Legend.
This guy never ridden a properly running Busa? Man he's in for a treat when he does! LOL
Went from Gsxr100 to the Hayabusa last year. The smoothness upgrade was the best feeling.
But the ugliness downgrade 🙁
@@austinprice770 i prefer the gsxr tail, but no qualms after installing a few aftermarket pieces.
College buddy bought one as a first bike during our 2nd year of college. EVERYONE told him not to get it. Yup....wrecked it in less than a week. He's lucky he's still walking.
Picked up a bone stock gen 1 last month😎. It's awesome for a 20 year old bike!
I found ur channels like 5 days ago and I cant stop watching ur videos great work :D
They also do a channel called Bikes and Beards.
You'll be able to binge watch when you self isolate with coronavirus...
Yes the busa is a great bike and it feels like a 750 riding it. It handles exceptionally well for a big bike.
Zx14 had significant changes in 2012. Bumped displacement from 1352 to 1441. Ride modes and KTRC were also added. My research shows the zx14 to be the better and more stable bike, but the Busa was better known.
Yep. zx14 = 'Busa killer.
@@2Timone7 There is truly so little between the bikes I get bored of one rider slagging off the others choice. Let's be grown up and accept these machines for the incredible bikes they are. Bib The Boulder Never “slagged”, just stated an opinion. Be grown up about others. Peace.
@@2Timone7 never said you did..
@@2Timone7 I don't understand why you guys get a nut off of calling it "hayabusa killer" when it has more displacement?
I had a 2006 limited Hayabusa and its the only bike I sold I regret. It was the white/silver version and I LOVED it. Had to sell it because of a bad back. It became uncomfortable to me, so I let it go. The bike was FAST and I only had it up to about 145mph or so. Just an FYI... I have had Suzuki, Honda, Harley and Yamaha and the ONLY bikes I have ever had problems with were the Harleys. None of my bikes ever left me stranded but I could write papers on all the issues I have had with the Harleys.
I think I’m going to get one as my first bike I have ridden a Xr 50 so I know what I’m doing
@There is No God get a 14. Not a bad bike to learn on.
Good luck‼️🥶😱
The kid with the brand New R1 cracked me up
Yeah about to die.
@There is No God , get a bodybag ready.
It is a legend of that time period and will remain because of its simple and beautiful design, unlike the current superbikes.
Dang, that is clean! That is my dream bike....

Here in Canada, all 2007 Hayabusa have black frames

VIllain OP I had a fuel pump fail but it was 21 years old. Like anything keep it properly serviced and it’s got every chance. These Busas will can rack up serious mileage with no real issues.
I got a black 99 hayabusa. I love it
Cheers

Sounds like it is running on 3 cylinders.
Exactly!
Hes talking but ya it does sound like its missing
yeah something is wrong
@@94SexyStang Mine sounds the same and it is running perfect. It is the dual exhaust that makes it sound like that!
My first thought too
I have a 2006, I bought mine with 28Kmile and I love mine.
Yeah yeah yeah great bike. Hey thanks for mentioning my bike, the Blackbird!
Downplays the zx14 like it's slow. Manages to run over 4 seconds to 60 mph on the busa he's trying to talk up. Smh.
This 'Busa isn't running right if you listen closely
ZX14 came out with their 2nd Gen ZX14R in 2012 with 1441CC it has been faster than the hyabusa ever since 2012 and still is.
and the ZX14 is still faster than the upcoming 2022 Busa and cheaper!
@@robertdaone truth! I wish they would have made a quicker busa I wanted to see Kawasaki make a turbocharged ZX14R
He'd improve by a full second if the bike was running properly 😬
Try dumping the clutch at screening revs on a busa and see where you end up
I own a bone stock 2000 Busa and I am 48 years old and rode my whole life, I own 8 different bikes including a full bagger Harley and I can honestly and unbiasedly say that the Busa is my all time favourite bike! I also have a zx12r that is probably a tiny bit quicker but not as comfortable for a taller guy, I highly suggest if you ever get a chance just ride one ! You will see what I mean! 😄👍
Track bike? Yeah right! LOL
I'm pretty sure he said it's not uncommon to see them at the track...
Yeah, I'll stay here at lower speeds....lol...for now ;)
I think I would be fine going from a 250 dirtbike to a busa
Go for it
Rode my hayabusa across state , great bike for long rides
Loved my Busa! Than I bought the ZX 14 I'm keeping the Ninja!
What I like most about the Busa is actually the sound. And I mean the ENGINE sound and not the exhaust.

I love the bible verses
Amen an amen 🙌🙏

JMHO
