    I'm working onone of these at the moment - the 'world cities' model. Bizarrely it also had the cannon pinion not engaged correctly, a cracked crystal, and the seconds hand loose... perhaps been through the same previous owner's hands?! From watching your video, mine does also appear to be missing a cap jewel and spring from the escape wheel jewel so I'm now waiting for some donor parts to arrive before I can get it finished.

      Imagine if it was! I have to admit that was one of strangest simple fixes I've encountered. Hope you get the parts soon. They're a nice movement.

    • @spidiq8
      @spidiq8  4 года назад +1

      No problem, I'll try to do a little video on that, it's a fairly straightforward procedure to establish it, or get you very close at least.

    Thank you very much for this video!
    I have two of them, but my first does no longer work since it dropped on the floor. In my opinion nothing serious.
    Can you suggest a good tool-kit for watch repairs?
    I would be happy to have again both working.
    I love this watch! Thanks again for your work and video!

    • @spidiq8
      @spidiq8  4 года назад

      Glad you enjoyed it. A drop to the floor could be nothing too serious but equally could have bent or broken a balance pivot or similar.
      Re tools, there isn't a 'good' kit unless you're looking at a dealer specific Bergeon set which is extortionate.
      Best thing is to get a set of reasonable screwdrivers and at a minimum 2 pairs of good tweezers, AA size in steel and brass, others come in handy but those will get you going.
      Depending on where in the world you are depends on the best place to source them but Cousins in the UK is a good start and their budget range is pretty dececnt.

    Would it be possible to make the secondary crown on this model a push-pull one? It seems to me that the watch would be much more usable as a GMT-type watch if that was the case.

    • @spidiq8
      @spidiq8  2 года назад

      That would be handy as it moves far too easily if knocked. I'm not sure how it could be achieved as it's a direct gear drive.

    Did you ever replace the crystal? If so, what size did you use?

    • @spidiq8
      @spidiq8  4 месяца назад

      Yes, I don't recall the size now as this was a long time ago.
      It was a high dome acrylic.
      You can measure the original or the case with vernier calipers to get the diameter.

    How did you remove the crown to remove the movement from the case?

    • @spidiq8
      @spidiq8  Год назад +1

      There's a detent that you press with a tool next to where the stem enters.

    Did You find a suitable second hand for it in the end? Hope You did... find... the second hand... which, I believe, actually appeared in this video at 2:05, but it looked like You did not notice it, as You kept knocking it about reluctantly for another whole 50 seconds...
    For now I will carry on watching with hope - may be You did notice it and will say something about it later on in the video...

    Isn't 42° the correct lift angle for Raketa 26xx?

    • @spidiq8
      @spidiq8  2 года назад

      It is yes,
      I had difficulty finding many eastern bloc movements lift angle initially and tend to default to 52 which the TG is automatically on, the resultant trace is more important overall and very low amplitudes are usually evident.

    Hello, can a watchmaker turn new springs for such watches, or do I have to rely on replacement springs?

    • @spidiq8
      @spidiq8  3 года назад +1

      Mainspring or hairspring? In either case no. You can't just make a replacement. They're specialised processes but one could be modified from another potentially.

    • @tachyonator7986
      @tachyonator7986 3 года назад

      @@spidiq8 I think the mainspring. Are the watch springs so different from each other that you can't fit one from another, newer watch? It doesn't have to be perfect, but it should run longer than 12 hours again.

    • @spidiq8
      @spidiq8  3 года назад +1

      @@tachyonator7986 With the mainspring you have a wide choice of compatible springs and should be able to find one very close to the original if not exact, Russian springs really aren't great anyway so something from Generale Resorts which you can get from any material house will be better, you need to identify the end, (hook, T, Regular, slipping etc) the spring height and thickness which are the most crucial and the length which you have a bit of leeway with.
      Which specific movement is it for?

    Hi, got a 1982 2623H. Came from Ukraine which I brought by ebay... Nice, but the watch took a few days to get the mechanical to start ticking over 30-40 seconds before it dies. After a few times now the watch is niw very accurate to keep its times, BUT it is now stopping after 6-7 hours hooe one day it will becomena real 24-hr watch ratjer than a 6-hour..... Any UK helper please. Clive...

    • @spidiq8
      @spidiq8  2 года назад

      If it's stopping after a short while there's something amiss.
      It could be as simple as a broken or severely weakened mainspring but could be some other reason.
