Great podcast. Thanks for shouting out the Get Lost…Find Yourself event. Not to toot my own horn here….The rally gave away over $5000 worth of stuff and raised $4000 for Men’s Mental Health 👍🏻 I personally really enjoy the smaller more intimate rallies.
Ben - you do realize that adding Grace made the show better? Good job Bro... a humble and exciting co-host was a great idea. Keep up the good work... since your mea-culpa video you've been crushing it.
Great job! Ben, I have to say thank you for introducing me to Grace through one of your videos. I really love these collaborations with you and Grace, plus her solo content. Please, be safe! Love you both!
Really enjoyed this post/discussion. You two are so relatable, easy going and full of such useful information , Looking forward to meeting you at the Tourtech Rally this year. Keep up the fantastic work, glad to have you as Internet riding buddies.
I started with several of the big paid rallies, and they gave me a great start to meet a lot of other riders, and I gained lots of confidence. 10 years later, my favorite "ADV" rallies now have about 18 people gathered around one single campfire. Like Ben explained, you get to meet everyone without the big crowds. It's ALL good, tho, as long as we get to RIDE!
Great podcast Ben and Grace! I really liked your perspective on how to embrace the rallies and do not be afraid to strike up conversations with the influencers you meet. Last year I attended the GetOn ADV fest in Mojave and was awestruck with the number of influencers I have been following that were present. I only wish I had met Ben in person while there. Keep up the great work! There is a group of fellow riders planning to go to the Overland Expo in Flagstaff this year. As a side note, we do not trailer our bikes and ride our ADV bikes to the event and plan an interesting route out and back. We all live in the Ft. Worth, TX area, so our trips are 7-14 days long.
Great content and banter. Ben I have mentioned before that you have a presence that cameras like, and a great personality...put that together with Grace, who is so outgoing, makes a great duo for the show...and remember ..."Be Gracefully Excellent to each other". Keep up the good work!
Dork & Grace, you folks make a good team as hosts for this podcast. You each have different perspectives to share with enough in common to keep the chat going. Dork, you are great at keeping things on track & Grace, you putting yourself out there as a female in a male dominated sport is commendable. Oh, and for anyone just getting into this motocamping thing. Wwt-wipes are the bee's knees for all things messy!😂 Carry on!
Grace and Ben thank you for this great Pod cast. I love this because it give info from both men and women's view on things and you two kind of play off of each other in such a good fun way. I am going to sign up for the Giant Loop Ride and have already signed up for Tourtec and Amanda's Rocky Mountain Roll. I love to ride to the rally's on my CRF300L Rally,
Great conversation! I went to Sturgis GetOn ADVfest and got to meet Grace at the Rawhyde intermediate training. 😃Black Hills, SD is a beautiful place to ride both pavement and non-pavement options and great off the bike sites to see. Bigger rallies are nice to see products, get training and demo bikes, you can also meet a lot of likeminded people. I also like smaller campouts like Rocky Mountain Roll because it's just chill and you see a lot of the same people year after year. I've wanted to go to Tourtech Rally but don't think I'll make it this year. 😞
Once again...great talk. I love this format. I'm not new to adventure/dual sport riding, but I'm going to my first rally in June...Touratech West. I may end up going by myself (my friends suck) and it was good to hear your experiences. Hope to see you guys there! 🤙
Wow! I want to experience your type of motorcycle rally. I used to live on Galveston Island where they hold the Lone Star Rally. My experiences were always less than desirable.
Ive been to many of both over the years and there are zero similarities other than most people show up on two wheels. No 58 yr. old leather skinned stretch marked tattooed saggy boobs uncovered. No hot dog throating contest off the back of your man's bike. And that's just the men. We won't discuss what the women look and act like.....@@DorkintheRoad
Grace don’t feel terrible. The pack was way too big. It was my own silliness that caused the dead battery. I was so “star struck” at the time that I never turned my bike key off while all of us gassed up and left my Garmin and phone charging. I now carry a portable jump pack with me at all times tho 😂 And…..I never downloaded any of the tracks prior to the event, so again my mistake 😜
Dude, all I can say is I'm guessing since you mentioned the PNW group a few times is why I'm staying busy with massive amounts of join requests to the club.
I am going to give a plug for SRC in Pendleton Oregon that has rooms for rent for motorcycle riders. They are located between 10 th and 9 th street on the one way main street headed west. It is a old fire station with a out side eating area for a lunch bar called Backfire Station. They also have a few old classic motorcycles on the walls and also have a warehouse full of motorcycle accessories and people that can help you know how to put them on.
The #1 problem I have with rally’s is that with a lot of them you have to register in advance. I travel and live on (off?) my bike, rolling 40-50,000 miles per year and don’t have a clue where I’ll be at any given time . #2 would be why would I pay someone to do something I have been living/doing for the last 12 years? Some years ago I mapped myself into an event, when I got there I was told that the route I took into the event was “a special route for advanced riders” … what? And now I’m supposed to pay for the privilege to ride out said route (?) … what? For the people that go to rallies as ways to get away from work or whatever, enjoy them! Make memories! For me, not so much …
Trying to decide if I want to bring the Tiger 900RP or the CRF300L this year. Last time I went (5 years ago?) I had a CB500X with the Rally Raid stuff. Can't wait to go back. I went to the Julian rally in '23 with the 300 and had a blast. Question for Ben. Are you going to be running the Northern California BDR when it opens?
Thanks Ben, this was very helpful as I am eying a few of these events here in the PNW. Grace sort of touched on it but at the GL ride do you recommend doing the $175 extra for the 6 catered meals? If you don't do that can you buy individual meals each day? Cant find those deets on the website..Thanks! -AL
There's not really any alternative food on site and it's a ways to the nearest town so it's pretty much do the catered meals or bring your own food. The food isn't cheap but it's nice to know it's taken care of and kind of fun to eat with everyone else.
As neat as the rallies sound, even for me as an introvert, it's actually the booze that keeps me away. I've never drank, but I've had so many bad experiences being around people who do/were, that I just despise it. This makes me a party pooper, and nobody wants that.
Yeah, great topic & showdown👍 BUT - EVEN MORE IMPORTANT: The - online evolutionary - concept to unite two well known personalities on two wheels... Whaaaa? There was a guy? 😁
Yes her assistant is tolerable at best 😂

"Influencers" are just narcissists who love talking about themselves. The internet ruined everything.

Sometimes it is hard for fans to know when to leave you alone. It is an art to tell someone you need your space. Sometimes direct is best.
Two minutes in and I'm dying! You two are awesome.
The food at Get On ADV fest in Sturgis last year was great. I felt like they really stepped it up a notch.

Nice conversation with lots of good info. I hope to attend an ADV rally someday!!
"Technically" glacier fed rivers run gray and opaque due to silt. I think we're talking more like Crater Lake Blue Eyes there my Oregon buddy.
Ben said "Glaciers" I'm dead
Great 👍 info, going to one here in AZ in April and can’t wait!!!
Another great one guys!✊️👊✊️👊

Awsome show.
The lack of shade really gets to me at rallies. But I'm a ginger. Agoraphobia comes out of nowhere, too.

I never end up riding at rallies very much. Too much stuff going on!
Have you considered riding the southeast? Tennessee twister, Smokey mountain 500, etc. I'd like to invite ya'll to join us!

Please make a video of all of the Booths or most of the Booths at Aimexpo This Year!
I don't think either of us is going.
Dork, I’m ordering a pair of MSR Voyager pants. Should I order the exact size in which my waist measures, or should I order a size up? Thanks.
I'm a 40 in jeans and in those pants so it's pretty spot on. Size up if you want to wear something more than a base layer underneath them.
Random and strange. Just @ me next time! 😂
bro you're not even top 10 random and strangest people I've met.
Looks like you missed the window for the off-road games.

Did the Dork even try?
I have no idea what you're talking about?
