Seeing someone experience Lovebites for the 1st time never gets old .These ladies are all world class at their respective instrument and make it look easy. Lovebites has not produced a bad song, yet... it will be worth your time exploring this rabbit hole to the fullest. What makes them even more endearing to me is, that they are all humble, down to earth human beings.

Friend, I just saw their first ever US performance in Atlanta last week, and I can testify about the superhuman talent on display. This was the next to last song of a 16 song set (5-6 minutes, average length), and the vocalist Asami sang this song clean and strong, holding that final note TWICE as long as in this perfromance!! I was shaking with excitement!!!

I can attest to what he said about Atlanta because I saw their last show of the tour, at Cafe Du Nord in San Francisco. Not only was this song played, but it was the final song of their encore, and throughout the entire night, Asami was holding notes like this and even higher. They opened with Another song you need to react to, called The Hammer of Wrath. When you hear the vocals in that, keep in mind that they opened with that song, and closed with Holy War, and she kept hitting notes like this flawlessly all night. Phenomenal band, and one I would put over every other band out there today.
Best metal band today. They whole band is immensely talented. The 2 guitarists (Midori & Miyako) are among the best duos ever. No one harmonizes better. The Japanese metal/rock scene is the best in theworld currently. So many awesome bands with the all-female groups leading the way.

Welcome to LOVEBITES 🤘🏼🐺🔥 Here some information about them: The band was formed in 2016 by original bassist Miho and drummer Haruna. Their first EP and album both were released in 2017. So far LOVEBITES have already recorded 4 full length studio albums, in addition some EPs and Singles and a bunch of live albums, available on CD and DVD/Blu-ray. In 2018 LOVEBITES won the Metal Hammer UK Golden Gods Award for best new band. LOVEBITES have toured in Europe back in 2018/2019 and also recently in 2024. They can bring such intense emotions to metalheads. I was there 1 week after their first video was released in 2017 called Don't Bite the Dust. my big brother sent me the link with the caption "Iron Maiden and Judas Priest had a baby". By the time the video was over I was crying like a baby, for real, I watched it again 4-5 times in a row crying thee whole time because I had not heard that kind of music, by a new band, since the late 80's. Within 3 weeks I had the Album, and have been by their side, and they by mine, for every release since. All glory to Lovebites and all my brothers and sisters in The Wolf Pack everywhere!!

LOVEBITES are probably the most talented metal band to appear in the lat two decades. As of 2024, I'd put them in the top three metal bands on the planet in terms of pure musicianship, alongside Dream Theater and Symphony-X. Midori and Miyako are arguably the greatest metal guitar due of all time. I encourage you to continue down the LOVEBITES rabbit hole - they simply do not have a bad song, and they have several legitimate masterpieces.
So far all the suggestions have immensely expanded my music library. This performance was mind blowing and I am sure rest will be as well. This is completely new scene for me and I am so glad people recommended them!

Welcome to the Wolfpack. 🐺 Named after the Grammy winning song "Love Bites (So Do I) by Halestorm, lead singer, Asami, has joined Halestorm , at Download 2019, to perform that song. Formed in 2016 by drummer Haruna and bassist Miho, after their former band ,Destrose, broke up, Miyako and Midori are, IMO ,2 of the best guitarists today. Miho decided to leave in 2021, Fami won the new bassist auditions and joined in Oct 2022. 4 albums and 4 EP's to date. The 4th EP just dropped in August. "Holy War" comes from the 3rd album, Electric Pentagram. Some of their big influences are Metallica, Iron Maiden, Helloween, Judas Priest, and Slayer. Some songs lean towards power metal, some towards thrash, and some ballads. But they will tell you, "We play heavy metal" This song was my introduction to the band as well, and yes I was blown away too.🤘🤘The duel guitar ,melt your face, 'solos' are common with this band. Haruna is just a beast behind the kit, killer basslines , and a great voice from Asami. They keep this up for 90 minute to 2 hour shows. As you see, they are awesome live. Pick a random song by them, and it will be good. There are actually some pretty good suggestions here in the comment section, that'll help as well. The 60+ song catalogue is quite diverse in influences and genres, everyone should find his idols, may it be Maiden, Priest, Slayer, Metallica, Helloween, Testament, Sabaton, even Queen, to name a few. Live performances are recommended, although the OMVs are pretty good. "Holy War" is okay, but especially a good introduction to LOVEBITES. They latest songs, they dropped on their RUclips LOVEBITES channel, are two of their best (live 2023, last September in Tokyo): "Soldier Stands Solitarily" and "Edge Of The World". It's a miracle that two such good lead guitarists are in the same band. Both are main guitarists, but Miyako is also a classical pianist. Vocalist Asami originally studied classical ballet, but later became an R&B singer, and did not know about heavy metal until she joined Lovebites.

Welcome to the rabbit hole. Since I became aware of Band Maid in the mid-2010s and discovered other excellent Japanese bands such as Lovebites, I listen to western bands less and less. There are so many incredibly good bands in Japan, or rather in the whole of Asia. I hope you continue to have fun on your journey of discovery.
I think what you're referring to as "casual" might better be thought of as a stillness in the body core, whch allows relaxation of the non-playing muscles (neck & shoulders, f'rinstance, where lots of us carry tension), leaving the business end -- fingers & hands especially (and LEGS in Haruna's case) -- free to do their work. Mastery of technique. It also leaves Midori's face relaxed enough to give us those beaming smiles while she's playing at supersonic speed.
I'm a huge fan of rock and metal since the end of the seventies. i discovered Lovebites in 2021 just during the hiatus after Miho's departure and before Fami joined. i was Immediately hooked. they are really the best metal band since the end of eighties. all of their songs are composed by themselves ( mostly Miyako but not all ). only two covers ( as i know ). first one is "Eagle fly free" from Helloween : ruclips.net/video/To21HILZvYE/видео.html and the wonderful "Painkiller" from Judas Priest : ruclips.net/video/QQu9PQmmHKI/видео.html . Rob Halford himself is a fan of Lovebites and bought albums from them. The Wolfpack (Name of Lovebites Fans ) will give you enough suggestions. Lovebites wrote near 60 songs and honestly there is no bad ones.
So you were one of those poor people, who discovered LOVEBITES in uncertain times, during the hiatus! When I (re-)found them, Fami had already joined to complete the pentagram, and they already had their new album. (I've seen them before in a 2018 Wacken report, but sadly didn't follow up!) The third established cover song by LOVEBITES is "Love Bites (So Do I)" from Halestorm, that gave LOVEBITES its name!

TBH - 99% of musicians on the planet can only dream of getting to this level ( and you ain't seen NOTHING yet from these ladies ! ) If it will blow your mind any more than it already is - neither guitarist even started playing guitar until they were around 19 years old and Miyako ( who did the first solo ) is also a classically trained concert level pianist . Congratulations on discovering Lovebites. In their first five years of existence, they put themselves on par with the greatest bands of metal’s golden age. If they are not your thing, then you probably simply don’t like melodic metal, because they are the best at it. They recently went on a year-and-a half hiatus while they waited out the pandemic and searched for a new bassist, after their founder and original bassist left the band for personal reasons. They announced the new bassist in October 2022 (see below) and dropped their first new song on December 22. Their new album, “Judgement Day”, was released two months later. They did their first live performances in more than two years in summer of 2023, with their new bassist Fami. Their very first show was commemorated on the DVD “Knocking on Heaven’s Gate”. @@dejzmi7089 You're welcome! There's no bad choice. They don't have a bad song in their catalogue. That said, they have a few certifiable masterpieces and some that are a bit of a departure from what you might think. My take on it is to check out a few of the really good, but more expected ones, before moving into one of the "E" songs (all of which are something special), Swan Song (with the Chopin Intro) and Frozen Serenade. Maybe try Thunder Vengeance live from Zepp 2020 (the opener to this show), Break the Wall, also from Zepp, or Hammer of Wrath. You have two options for this one - they open a lot of their shows these days with Hammer of Wrath, and they play The Awakening before it, most of the time. If you watch The Awakening / The Hammer of Wrath, you'll see the Zepp 2020 encore opener with The Awakening. If you choose Hammer of Wrath from their official channel, it will be the 2023 version, which is the opener to the comeback show after they had a hiatus when the original bassist left in 2022. Fami is the new bassist from this point forward (you saw Miho in Holy War). I love the 2020 version for the inclusion of The Awakening, which is what you'd see if you saw them on tour this year, but the 2023 version with Fami is great and you get Asami coming out and belting "We are baaaack!!!" (and that is why she is saying that). Anyhow, please excuse the long post. I'll suggest any of those. Fun to see them lean into some thrash after seeing them do more power in Holy War. There's no wrong song to choose though. Anyone else's suggestion is just as good, because odds are you'll love it and come around to watching many/most of them anyway, and most of us have seen them all many times. 🙂

Since you mentioned Queen, Miyako (dark hair guitar) said in an appearance on Marty Friedman's show Rock Fujiyama that Brian May from Queen is one of her guitar heroes, this is because her mother is a big Queen fan and so she listened to them since she was a child, and he became an inspiration for her! Fantastic track, it has that thrash/power metal vibe that Lovebites are known for, Haruna on drums just destroying this song!! 🤘🤘🔥

I urge you to continue down the path of discovering these amazingly talented women. Well, they have a lot of stuff in their back catalog that is incredible, go to some of their newest, live stuff, with their new bassist who has amped up the band with her infectious energy, even more. These women are gonna be unstoppable, and they are still relatively unknown here in the US. They just finished their first US tour of I think seven dates. We need them back here!

Lovebites is freaking phenomenal - the biggest surprise you've ever seen. These ladies blow your mind as you have seen and yet you've only seen one song. They have many more equally as good as this one. Trust me. Your reaction was the same as mine was 3 years ago. Lovebites are a Japanese heavy metal band, formed in 2016 by Miho, Bass, who was previously in the band DESTROSE that broke up in 2015. They take much of their influence from the 1970's and 80's British and European bands such as Iron Maiden, Judas Priest and Metallica. Miho is a big fan of Steve Harris, bass player with Iron Maiden and is influenced by his playing style. She left the band in 2021 for personal reasons and is currently pursuing new projects. Any Lovebites video recorded in 2021 or earlier, the basist will be Miho (ESP Bass), any from 2022 or later, it is 'new girl' Fami (Bacchus Bass, usually a 5 string) The present members are, Asami, Vocals and Piano. She trained in Ballet Dancing and before Lovebites was a R&B singer. She writes many of the lyrics and sings in English, not easy for a native Japanese speaker. Midori, (Midori Tatematsu) ESP Guitars. The blond 'Amazon Warrior'. Before Lovebites a member of all female band GEKIJO METALICCHE. Miyako, ( Watanabe Miyako, also has used the name Mi Ya) Dean and Gibson Guitars, Piano and Keyboards. The 'serious' one with long black hair. Before Lovebites a member of the bands DROP OF JOKER, 21g and SONIC LOVER RECKLESS. She is a classically trained pianist who writes much of the music, often incorporating classical themes into her compositions. She recently posted a 3 part series on her YT channel 'MIYAKO OFFICIAL' about the process she uses to compose new music in her home studio. She has an EP of some classic heavy metal songs transcibed and played on piano as though they are classical works. It would be accurate to think of her as a classical pianist who also plays guitar in a heavy metal band. A remarkable young woman. Both Guitarists play lead, seamlessly swapping lead and rhythm as required. They play wonderful harmonised dual solos. Fami, Bacchus Bass. The 'new girl', recruited as replacement for Miho in late 2022 when she was 20 years old and still at university. She has her own YT channel that has nearly 700,000 subs. Check out her 'Alien Alien' Slap Bass cover from when she was in her teens. Haruna, Drums. The 'Little BIG Engine'. a tiny lady, 1.45 meters tall, who is the power house that drives the band. Before Lovebites she had been in Destrose, Miho's former band, and was the first to join her in the new band. I saw Lovebites live in London recently, and watched Haruna in awe. She plays powerfully, fast and precisely throughout concerts that can be up to near 2 hours long. She uses a double kick bass pedal at unbelievable speed. All members of the band can play piano/keyboards. They were the first all female Japanese band to play at the Wacken festival, Germany in 2018, also playing at the Bloodstock festival in the UK and winning the UK Metal Hammer Golden Gods award for best new band. In 2019 they toured the UK with Dragon Force and opened for Arch Enemy in China. Following Miho's departure in 2021 they went on hiatus, two members, Asami and Miyako getting married and having babies. Their 'comeback' concert, the first with Fami on Bass, was in March 2023. Yep lol. 😂 Just the reaction i was waiting for. Lovebites has equally a fascinating backstory as well. Miyako who is the one with black hair on the right. She started out as a concert pianst. There are some piano performances floating around which in themselves are brilliant. Asami their fearless leader stated as a professional ballerina for 16 years as how about that lol. Their drummer Haruna is an absolutely beast & that is just the beginning. Lovebites roots trace back to Destrose. A band which in itself read like a who who of Japanese metal. Everyone from Nemophila, Aldious, Mary's Blood, Mardelas, Albion,. Along with just about half of the bands of the last decade. Have their roots in this band in some form or another. ___________________________________________________ Destrose is no longer together unfortunately but their legacy lives on in Fate Gear. Capain Mina who was the founder of Destrose is also the brainchild behind FateGear. Another band I highly recommend here. They just released their new album "The Vanguard of Hades". Which is out available now!! "Winds of the Fall" and "This Fate" are their latest singles. You will know Mina by her stunning steampunk guitar and recend Billboard interviews. She is always giving a platform to Japanese artists which deserve recognition. She is the G.O.A.T. for a reason. These two bands along with Babymetal & Band-maid round out my top 4. I wondered which song you'd choose for your intro to THE best Metal band on Earth - excellent choice! (Though in all fairness, they are all excellent). You've mentioned a few times that you don't understand how you've not known about the likes of Lovebites, Band-Maid and Nemophila before now but, for those of us who got lucky enough to find them all a while ago, it's equally baffling why they aren't more renowned. Personally, apart from The Warning (and you'll be getting pointed their way at some point, guaranteed), everything I've listened to and watched for the last 7 or 8 years has been from Japan. It's the musical treasure chest that just keeps giving. Hopefully, you'll get a chance to breathe while you take in more of Lovebites and Band-Maid and Nemophila, before the other jewels in that chest get revealed - Hanabie, Otoboke Beaver, Babymetal, Asterism, Wagakki Band....keep digging in as it's a deep chest!

They play complicated pieces with ease and then the sound is so beefy and tough that brain and ears have complete meltdown in best possible way.
@@dejzmi7089 We noticed they had that effect on you - on all of us! You mentioned their smiles and unstrained expressions and, from what they say in interviews, it seems to come down to them practicing a lot. or rather, a LOT. 5 hours a day doesn't seem to be too unusual. Miyako on the right learned piano from 3 to 17...and then picked up a guitar! She is concert pianist (and guitarist) standard and that grand piano next to her gets a very thorough workout on two songs, Frozen Serenade and Swan Song, including a Chopin intro on one of them that is astounding. By the way, though she's a happy person, her stage persona is always unsmiling and straight-faced. Whereas Midori on ther left hand lead guitar is always smiling (often at the audience while her fingers fly over the strings).
@@tonygriffin_ Lots and lots of practice and dedication for the craft ! And it shows!!! Playing those heavy riffs fast with accuracy, and drums and bass is not an easy thing to do at all. I am definitely checking more of their music!

Japanese metal is on an incredible roll, especially the women, who are kicking ass on an epic scale. Another great band you should check out is Bridear. Founded in 2011, they were in the second wave of all-female heavy-metal bands. They have the classic twin-lead attack and technical rhythm section. They have gone through some changes but have always kept their hard, heavy, technical sound. Their tiny bassist even does death growls! They just released their new album on June 28 and it’s a banger. BURRN is calling it a masterpiece. Metal Hammer compares them to Lovebites. In the past, some of the greatest musicians have lamented that Rock is dead. However, many metalheads have exclaimed, “Rock is not dead, it just moved to Japan.
The Beatles' first concert in Japan about half a century ago triggered a band boom in Japan, especially among young people. This trend has continued to the present day, with more than 100 groups of female bands alone, and the LOVEBITES are in the top group among them. Just six months after their first live performance as LOVEBITES, they made their major label debut, and six months after that, they gave their first overseas live performance in the UK, expanding their activities at an astonishing speed.
They then went on hiatus due to a pandemic and band members leaving the band, but resumed their activities in February 2023 with the release of their 4th full-length album, “Judgment Day”. And this year they toured Europe and the United States.
I will check out Judgment day! You can see the skills and I am sure this is energy jolt seeing live.
If you take every metal band from the 80’s throw them in a bag , shake it up and open it up in 2024 you have Lovebites. 🤘🤘🤘🤘

Friend, I just saw their first ever US performance in Atlanta last week, and I can testify about the superhuman talent on display. This was the next to last song of a 16 song set (5-6 minutes, average length), and the vocalist Asami sang this song clean and strong, holding that final note TWICE as long as in this perfromance!! I was shaking with excitement!!!

I can attest to what he said about Atlanta because I saw their last show of the tour, at Cafe Du Nord in San Francisco. Not only was this song played, but it was the final song of their encore, and throughout the entire night, Asami was holding notes like this and even higher. They opened with Another song you need to react to, called The Hammer of Wrath. When you hear the vocals in that, keep in mind that they opened with that song, and closed with Holy War, and she kept hitting notes like this flawlessly all night. Phenomenal band, and one I would put over every other band out there today.

Best metal band today. They whole band is immensely talented. The 2 guitarists (Midori & Miyako) are among the best duos ever. No one harmonizes better. The Japanese metal/rock scene is the best in theworld currently. So many awesome bands with the all-female groups leading the way.
I been noticing Japan is kicking major cookies with their music. I would love to check out underground scenes there one day.

Here some information about them:
The band was formed in 2016 by original bassist Miho and drummer Haruna. Their first EP and album both were released in 2017. So far LOVEBITES have already recorded 4 full length studio albums, in addition some EPs and Singles and a bunch of live albums, available on CD and DVD/Blu-ray.
In 2018 LOVEBITES won the Metal Hammer UK Golden Gods Award for best new band.
LOVEBITES have toured in Europe back in 2018/2019 and also recently in 2024. This also includes appearances at most European major metal festivals such as Wacken, Download, Bloodstock, Graspop, Resurrection Fest and Hellfest.
They just finished their first US tour a few days ago.
In 2021 the band went into a hiatus, because founder and bassist Miho quit the band for personal reasons. During the break also two babies were born. LOVEBITES came back in October 2022 with new bassist Fami and a few months later with new album „Judgement Day“.
A new EP and a live album have been released on august 28. There are already a plenty of videos on their RUclips channel.

Asami on vocals (the one and only voice):
She has an amazing vocal range and vibrato, writes most of the lyrics, also did parts of the song writing for their latest 2 albums, she is a former ballerina and RnB/soul singer
Miyako on guitars, piano, keyboards (the golden touch):
She is the musical brain of the band, main composer and arranger, a soulful but also shreddy guitar player and concert level pianist, furthermore she is a gear nerd
Midori on guitars (crazy shredder):
Incredibly fast and technical guitar player, has contributed to songwriting for a few of their songs, also she is a body fitness athlete
Haruna on drums (little big engine):
Plays very fast pace over long distances, she is very efficient and her stamina is admirable, the cymbal work is outstanding, she also wrote one of their songs including lyrics, creates handmade miniature fake food
Fami on bass since 2022 (shining fingers):
Absolute bass prodigy with outstanding technique, she speaks faster than sonic speed as she plays and smiles non-stop
Miho on bass until 2021 (natural born headbanger):
We will never forget her, she is a great bass player, she wrote several of the songs for the band’s albums 1-3

LOVEBITES. They are listened not only by metalheads. Ladies came out of their metal genre and have wider spectrum of fans.
They play Eclectic Metal. It means they blend as the first band in history all kind of metal mainly power and thrash with NWOBHM,
heavy metal, symphonic metal, speed metal,hair metal, hard rock, rock, rock'n'roll, jazz, progressive pieces, funk and even punk. They mix all with classical music using operatic, R&B, soul and gospel skills of vocalist and grand piano and Spanish guitar skills playing. Sometimes they use typical Japanese melodic lines which are included in ENKAs_ melancholy ballads singing by Japanese women. Only their can do it. They can bring such intense emotions to metalheads. I was there 1 week after their first video was released in 2017 called Don't Bite the Dust. my big brother sent me the link with the caption "Iron Maiden and Judas Priest had a baby". By the time the video was over I was crying like a baby, for real, I watched it again 4-5 times in a row crying thee whole time because I had not heard that kind of music, by a new band, since the late 80's. Within 3 weeks I had the Album, and have been by their side, and they by mine, for every release since. All glory to Lovebites and all my brothers and sisters in The Wolf Pack everywhere!!

LOVEBITES are probably the most talented metal band to appear in the lat two decades. As of 2024, I'd put them in the top three metal bands on the planet in terms of pure musicianship, alongside Dream Theater and Symphony-X. Midori and Miyako are arguably the greatest metal guitar due of all time. I encourage you to continue down the LOVEBITES rabbit hole - they simply do not have a bad song, and they have several legitimate masterpieces.
So far all the suggestions have immensely expanded my music library. This performance was mind blowing and I am sure rest will be as well. This is completely new scene for me and I am so glad people recommended them!

Welcome to the Wolfpack. 🐺 Named after the Grammy winning song "Love Bites (So Do I) by Halestorm, lead singer, Asami, has joined Halestorm , at Download 2019, to perform that song. Formed in 2016 by drummer Haruna and bassist Miho, after their former band ,Destrose, broke up, Miyako and Midori are, IMO ,2 of the best guitarists today. Miho decided to leave in 2021, Fami won the new bassist auditions and joined in Oct 2022. 4 albums and 4 EP's to date. The 4th EP just dropped in August. "Holy War" comes from the 3rd album, Electric Pentagram. Some of their big influences are Metallica, Iron Maiden, Helloween, Judas Priest, and Slayer. Some songs lean towards power metal, some towards thrash, and some ballads. But they will tell you, "We play heavy metal"
This song was my introduction to the band as well, and yes I was blown away too.🤘🤘The duel guitar ,melt your face, 'solos' are common with this band. Haruna is just a beast behind the kit, killer basslines , and a great voice from Asami. They keep this up for 90 minute to 2 hour shows.
As you see, they are awesome live. For more from this same 2020 concert, try "Break the Wall", Thunder Vengeance" and "Swan Song" with Chopin piano intro (Miyako is a classically trained pianist, piano concert level ability)

Pick a random song by them, and it will be good. There are actually some pretty good suggestions here in the comment section, that'll help as well. The 60+ song catalogue is quite diverse in influences and genres, everyone should find his idols, may it be Maiden, Priest, Slayer, Metallica, Helloween, Testament, Sabaton, even Queen, to name a few. Live performances are recommended, although the OMVs are pretty good. "Holy War" is okay, but especially a good introduction to LOVEBITES. They latest songs, they dropped on their RUclips LOVEBITES channel, are two of their best (live 2023, last September in Tokyo): "Soldier Stands Solitarily" and "Edge Of The World". It's a miracle that two such good lead guitarists are in the same band. Both are main guitarists, but Miyako is also a classical pianist. Vocalist Asami originally studied classical ballet, but later became an R&B singer, and did not know about heavy metal until she joined Lovebites.

Welcome to the rabbit hole. Since I became aware of Band Maid in the mid-2010s and discovered other excellent Japanese bands such as Lovebites, I listen to western bands less and less. There are so many incredibly good bands in Japan, or rather in the whole of Asia. I hope you continue to have fun on your journey of discovery.

I think what you're referring to as "casual" might better be thought of as a stillness in the body core, whch allows relaxation of the non-playing muscles (neck & shoulders, f'rinstance, where lots of us carry tension), leaving the business end -- fingers & hands especially (and LEGS in Haruna's case) -- free to do their work. Mastery of technique. It also leaves Midori's face relaxed enough to give us those beaming smiles while she's playing at supersonic speed.
That makes more sense ! The muscle memory and also stamina is insane.
I'm a huge fan of rock and metal since the end of the seventies. i discovered Lovebites in 2021 just during the hiatus after Miho's departure and before Fami joined. i was Immediately hooked. they are really the best metal band since the end of eighties. all of their songs are composed by themselves ( mostly Miyako but not all ). only two covers ( as i know ). first one is "Eagle fly free" from Helloween : ruclips.net/video/To21HILZvYE/видео.html and the wonderful "Painkiller" from Judas Priest : ruclips.net/video/QQu9PQmmHKI/видео.html . Rob Halford himself is a fan of Lovebites and bought albums from them.

So you were one of those poor people, who discovered LOVEBITES in uncertain times, during the hiatus! When I (re-)found them, Fami had already joined to complete the pentagram, and they already had their new album. (I've seen them before in a 2018 Wacken report, but sadly didn't follow up!)

Congratulations on discovering Lovebites. In their first five years of existence, they put themselves on par with the greatest bands of metal’s golden age. If they are not your thing, then you probably simply don’t like melodic metal, because they are the best at it.
They recently went on a year-and-a half hiatus while they waited out the pandemic and searched for a new bassist, after their founder and original bassist left the band for personal reasons. They announced the new bassist in October 2022 (see below) and dropped their first new song on December 22. Their new album, “Judgement Day”, was released two months later.
They did their first live performances in more than two years in summer of 2023, with their new bassist Fami. Their very first show was commemorated on the DVD “Knocking on Heaven’s Gate”. They have posted four performances from that DVD:

@@dejzmi7089 You're welcome! There's no bad choice. They don't have a bad song in their catalogue. That said, they have a few certifiable masterpieces and some that are a bit of a departure from what you might think. My take on it is to check out a few of the really good, but more expected ones, before moving into one of the "E" songs (all of which are something special), Swan Song (with the Chopin Intro) and Frozen Serenade.
Maybe try Thunder Vengeance live from Zepp 2020 (the opener to this show), Break the Wall, also from Zepp, or Hammer of Wrath. You have two options for this one - they open a lot of their shows these days with Hammer of Wrath, and they play The Awakening before it, most of the time. If you watch The Awakening / The Hammer of Wrath, you'll see the Zepp 2020 encore opener with The Awakening. If you choose Hammer of Wrath from their official channel, it will be the 2023 version, which is the opener to the comeback show after they had a hiatus when the original bassist left in 2022. Fami is the new bassist from this point forward (you saw Miho in Holy War). I love the 2020 version for the inclusion of The Awakening, which is what you'd see if you saw them on tour this year, but the 2023 version with Fami is great and you get Asami coming out and belting "We are baaaack!!!" (and that is why she is saying that).
Anyhow, please excuse the long post. I'll suggest any of those. Fun to see them lean into some thrash after seeing them do more power in Holy War. There's no wrong song to choose though. Anyone else's suggestion is just as good, because odds are you'll love it and come around to watching many/most of them anyway, and most of us have seen them all many times. 🙂

Since you mentioned Queen, Miyako (dark hair guitar) said in an appearance on Marty Friedman's show Rock Fujiyama that Brian May from Queen is one of her guitar heroes, this is because her mother is a big Queen fan and so she listened to them since she was a child, and he became an inspiration for her!

I urge you to continue down the path of discovering these amazingly talented women. Well, they have a lot of stuff in their back catalog that is incredible, go to some of their newest, live stuff, with their new bassist who has amped up the band with her infectious energy, even more. Lovebites is freaking phenomenal - the biggest surprise you've ever seen. These ladies blow your mind as you have seen and yet you've only seen one song. They have many more equally as good as this one. Trust me. Your reaction was the same as mine was 3 years ago. They take the best of so many legendary metal/rock bands and blend it all into their own style. Next song should be The Hammer of Wrath live featuring their new bassist.

Welcome to Lovebites, the Wolfpack 🐺 Lovebites fans around the world, will be along to give you information and recommendations.
Lovebites are a Japanese heavy metal band, formed in 2016 by Miho, Bass, who was previously in the band DESTROSE that broke up in 2015. They take much of their influence from the 1970's and 80's British and European bands such as Iron Maiden, Judas Priest and Metallica. Miho is a big fan of Steve Harris, bass player with Iron Maiden and is influenced by his playing style. She left the band in 2021 for personal reasons and is currently pursuing new projects.
Any Lovebites video recorded in 2021 or earlier, the basist will be Miho (ESP Bass), any from 2022 or later, it is 'new girl' Fami (Bacchus Bass, usually a 5 string)
The present members are,
Asami, Vocals and Piano. She trained in Ballet Dancing and before Lovebites was a R&B singer. She writes many of the lyrics and sings in English, not easy for a native Japanese speaker.
Midori, (Midori Tatematsu) ESP Guitars. The blond 'Amazon Warrior'. Before Lovebites a member of all female band GEKIJO METALICCHE.
Miyako, ( Watanabe Miyako, also has used the name Mi Ya) Dean and Gibson Guitars, Piano and Keyboards. The 'serious' one with long black hair. Before Lovebites a member of the bands DROP OF JOKER, 21g and SONIC LOVER RECKLESS. She is a classically trained pianist who writes much of the music, often incorporating classical themes into her compositions. She recently posted a 3 part series on her YT channel 'MIYAKO OFFICIAL' about the process she uses to compose new music in her home studio. She has an EP of some classic heavy metal songs transcibed and played on piano as though they are classical works. It would be accurate to think of her as a classical pianist who also plays guitar in a heavy metal band. A remarkable young woman.
Both Guitarists play lead, seamlessly swapping lead and rhythm as required. They play wonderful harmonised dual solos.
Fami, Bacchus Bass. The 'new girl', recruited as replacement for Miho in late 2022 when she was 20 years old and still at university. She has her own YT channel that has nearly 700,000 subs. Check out her 'Alien Alien' Slap Bass cover from when she was in her teens.
Haruna, Drums. The 'Little BIG Engine'. a tiny lady, 1.45 meters tall, who is the power house that drives the band. Before Lovebites she had been in Destrose, Miho's former band, and was the first to join her in the new band. I saw Lovebites live in London recently, and watched Haruna in awe. She plays powerfully, fast and precisely throughout concerts that can be up to near 2 hours long. She uses a double kick bass pedal at unbelievable speed.
All members of the band can play piano/keyboards.
They were the first all female Japanese band to play at the Wacken festival, Germany in 2018, also playing at the Bloodstock festival in the UK and winning the UK Metal Hammer Golden Gods award for best new band. In 2019 they toured the UK with Dragon Force and opened for Arch Enemy in China. Following Miho's departure in 2021 they went on hiatus, two members, Asami and Miyako getting married and having babies. Their 'comeback' concert, the first with Fami on Bass, was in March 2023.

Yep lol. 😂 Just the reaction i was waiting for. Lovebites has equally a fascinating backstory as well. Miyako who is the one with black hair on the right. She started out as a concert pianst.
There are some piano performances floating around which in themselves are brilliant.
Asami their fearless leader stated as a professional ballerina for 16 years as how about that lol.
Their drummer Haruna is an absolutely beast & that is just the beginning. Lovebites roots trace back to Destrose. A band which in itself read like a who who of Japanese metal.
Everyone from Nemophila, Aldious, Mary's Blood, Mardelas, Albion,. Along with just about half of the bands of the last decade. Have their roots in this band in some form or another.

Destrose is no longer together unfortunately but their legacy lives on in Fate Gear. Capain Mina who was the founder of Destrose is also the brainchild behind FateGear.
Another band I highly recommend here. They just released their new album "The Vanguard of Hades". Which is out available now!! "Winds of the Fall" and "This Fate" are their latest singles.
You will know Mina by her stunning steampunk guitar and recend Billboard interviews. She is always giving a platform to Japanese artists which deserve recognition.

I wondered which song you'd choose for your intro to THE best Metal band on Earth - excellent choice! (Though in all fairness, they are all excellent). You've mentioned a few times that you don't understand how you've not known about the likes of Lovebites, Band-Maid and Nemophila before now but, for those of us who got lucky enough to find them all a while ago, it's equally baffling why they aren't more renowned. Personally, apart from The Warning (and you'll be getting pointed their way at some point, guaranteed), everything I've listened to and watched for the last 7 or 8 years has been from Japan. It's the musical treasure chest that just keeps giving. Hopefully, you'll get a chance to breathe while you take in more of Lovebites and Band-Maid and Nemophila, before the other jewels in that chest get revealed - Hanabie, Otoboke Beaver, Babymetal, Asterism, Wagakki Band....keep digging in as it's a deep chest!
Thank you!!!You are absolutely correct ! All these bands so far deserve much more recognition because talent is there, personality is there, it looks so effortless but it’s definitely not! They play complicated pieces with ease and then the sound is so beefy and tough that brain and ears have complete meltdown in best possible way.
@@dejzmi7089 We noticed they had that effect on you - on all of us! You mentioned their smiles and unstrained expressions and, from what they say in interviews, it seems to come down to them practicing a lot. or rather, a LOT. 5 hours a day doesn't seem to be too unusual. Miyako on the right learned piano from 3 to 17...and then picked up a guitar! She is concert pianist (and guitarist) standard and that grand piano next to her gets a very thorough workout on two songs, Frozen Serenade and Swan Song, including a Chopin intro on one of them that is astounding. By the way, though she's a happy person, her stage persona is always unsmiling and straight-faced. Whereas Midori on ther left hand lead guitar is always smiling (often at the audience while her fingers fly over the strings).
@@tonygriffin_ Lots and lots of practice and dedication for the craft ! And it shows!!! Playing those heavy riffs fast with accuracy, and drums and bass is not an easy thing to do at all. I am definitely checking more of their music!

Japanese metal is on an incredible roll, especially the women, who are kicking ass on an epic scale. Another great band you should check out is Bridear. Founded in 2011, they were in the second wave of all-female heavy-metal bands. They have the classic twin-lead attack and technical rhythm section. They have gone through some changes but have always kept their hard, heavy, technical sound. Their tiny bassist even does death growls!
They just released their new album on June 28 and it’s a banger. BURRN is calling it a masterpiece. Metal Hammer compares them to Lovebites.
