Paul, in his Phariseical zeal, terrorized Christians. Paul wholeheartedly approved of the killing of Stephen, the first martyr for Christ. Yet... Jesus appeared to Paul and simply asked "Why do you persecute me?"
Paul was the Michael Jordan of sinners... and Jesus forgave him. You are not the Michael Jordan of sinners. You aren't in the hall fame of sinners. You wouldn't even make the honorable mentions list of sinners.
If Paul, the Michael Jordan of sinners gets a personal visit from Jesus to remind him that he is loved, you're fine. Relax. Breathe. Enjoy the Love of God. And then, you will get to work, not out of penance, but out of gratitude.
