I am actually attending the Handcrafted Soap And Cosmetic Guild conference. As a novice maker I was nervous to attend. I’m so happy I took the plunge - everyone was so friendly and helpful. It’s an amazing community of other makers and technically competitors but it has been very refreshing to see the love and support of this community. Everyone has been so willing to share their knowledge and experiences. It has been exactly what I needed to gain knowledge and confidence to open my doors to a business. It has been a much different experience from just being on FB forum.
Omg I just saw they were in CT and candlescience was there!! I wish I knew, I guess if they sent an email it went to my spam folder :( where are you attending it, which state?!
@@amberandoak I live in western MA so I drove in everyday. I figured it was a sign I should go with it being in my “backyard”. Next year is in Reno. I think registration opens in Sept or Oct. the longer you wait the more expensive it gets. I’ll see where I am at if going makes sense. It really is a business write off so if you can swing it definitely go. I took an all day class presented by Kevin Reed from Candlescience it was amazing how much more I learned. Getting to visit all the vendors is fun and they usually offer great deals and discounts to attendees. Let me know if you have any questions!
@@nicolesakowicz2949 wow thank you for all the info!! I’m on Long Island so ct would have been sooo perfect! That’s great you got to go and soak up the knowledge and experience it :)
I am still working on getting up and running and putting together my first line of candles. I have a strange way of looking at the candle maker competition thing, donuts! I know it sounds funny, but I feel that when you have a product that is so similar to so many other makers the competition (challenge) is in getting your product in front of people.
Completely agree! I don’t have anyone close to discuss candle making with 😭 but the FB groups really do help!
I agree with everything you said here! What a wise approach !
