    I also have the xr18 mixer and use the xvive in ears. My band had the exact same problem on our first gig using the u4 units. There is a super simple easy fix to this and once you do it you will never have an issue with the Ipad disconneting and the iem cutting out.
    (Assuming you have a good speed external router) Just run an xlr cable to each member from the aux bus just like you would for a floor monitor and plug in the trasmiter to the cable near where the musician is standing. The U4 just cant be near the router the as long as the transmiters are 5ft+ away from the router, everything works perfect...

    Thank you - I was hours away from chucking the XVIVE IEM for my whole band and dropping big bucks on a high end unit until I found this. I can't recommend these changes enough.
    Our wifi router that runs our mixing remote and allows us to control our own in an app on our phone, as interfering. Not only did the app not work, the IEM systems wouldn't not work because of the interference.
    Not only did we lock it to channel 11 - we disabled 2.4 and only run 5.2 on the router. Each band member also runs an XLR from the snake to their area on the stage - and now it works beautifully! Thanks again.

    Thank you for this review! I have been looking for in-ear wireless systems and ran across these. i use the XVive wireless guitar set up as well and thought this would be a good pairing. And thank you for the tip about setting a "hard" option for the wireless mixer. We use a Mackie system at most of our gigs, so this would have been an issue we would have had to solve.

    Very insightful, and probably the most correct and honest review out there. Not to say that sponsored videos cannot be impartial, but you raise a number of concerns that I have personally experienced with the U3 model, that most reviewers don't tackle (probably due to the very controlled - and therefore somewhat uprepresentative - studio demo tests). Since my bands mixer is on a NowSonic 5 GigaHertz-router and most of my band mates are on a UH radiofrequency-IEM-system, I think this can be a viable option for me. But I had to sell the Xvive U3 + Behringer P-2 combination because it ran into too many drop-out issues, so caution is indeed recommendable when purchasing this IEM-set. That being said, you have convinced me to rethink my current setup. Great video, great review!

    Don't plug it directly to the mixer.... run a cable from the mixer to where you are standing on stage and plug the unit in there. Keep it away from the router.

    Quick note: You ALWAYS have to worry about wifi/2.4gHz being a problem, even if your mixer is old-school. So many devices have shifted to that band, even TV remotes, that it may still be an issue. But glad to hear your initial problems were IT/networking related and the device otherwise works well for you!

  • @Millennial_Mike

    • @tj9265
      @tj9265 3 месяца назад +1

      Agreed! There should be far less clutter with 5 GHz Wi-Fi. That will eventually change as more devices get on board with that frequency but for the time being, it seems to be a no-brainer especially if you're going to try to use these Xvive's at 2.4GHz.

    We have the exact same setup (with a wireless router). There have been no issues whatsoever with other WiFi devices. Not exactly sure what your particular issue is but I am pretty sure it might be your router config or even age (there are different and overlapping implementations of 2.4Ghz used for compatibility in routers). The channels on the U4 do not correspond to the channel lineup on 2.4GHz transmission. It is just a 1-6 U4 notation, meaning it can only do up to 6 simultaneous performers.

    I noticed… I bought the Xvive U4 and the Xvive wireless mic adapter / reciever duo…
    And I noticed when I used them together, the in ear box interfered and cut the sound out.
    I was plugging them both into the same small audio interface to try it out… but that’s what I needed for my rig.
    I’m about to return the U4 tomorrow.
    Also, you might note that the U4 is only in Mono… it would sound so much better in stereo! Nobody mentions this. It’s not as good as it could be! Mine sounded thin.
    There are some other products that are in stereo, which will make your expensive IEMS sound way better.

    • @indianrockstrat
      @indianrockstrat 2 года назад +1

      Getting a stereo in ears mix has more to do with your mixer setup and other hardware ( like using a P16m digital setup with a Behringer mixer). I prefer to call it pannable mono so you can move audio sources left and right "in your head."

    I currently have ours hooked up into our x32. After watching the video and reading the comments do you think running 3 XLR from the x32 to the stage will solve our dropout/interference issues? Currently our stage is about 50ft from our x32. So running about 100ft xlr per transmitter to the stage and each transmitter separated by approximately 5 to 6 feet on separate channels should be good. Each receiver would be about 3 feet from transmitter. Hopefully it works. Novice sound engineer😂!!…..our WiFi router is less than 5ft from the x32😂

    With a digital mixer like a Behringer xr18 you should definitely use a dual band router and stick to the 5Ghz band. This not only should solve any issue with the XVive (I presume it works in the 2.4Ghz band) but with a lot of other devices. The 2.4ghz band is too crowded and the most of cell phones use this band and are continuously broadcasting for available wifi networks. Even if your XR18 wifi is password protected this broadcast can saturate a channel and prevent your tablet to connect to the XR18.

    Great review, interesting to note that nobody has mentioned if the receiver has a built in limiter just in case the audio engineer adjusts the wrong send and shoots a hot signal straight into the U4 users ears. Not a huge issue for people using digital mixers, a limiter can be put over the auxiliary channel in the mixer, not so good for people still using analogue mixers though. Also, you mentioned that you used the Behringer digital mixer yet that was the Soundcraft UI software when you showed the iPad with the drop out issue so its not just the Behringer that has that issue. Thanks for putting the review together

    HI perfecto that was awesome. I am having some trouble with high pitched buzzing sound when i use this at home. Any ideas whats going on? My home does have a wifi router we use for the internet.

      Try different channels and make sure the router is not near the xvive. If you’re using the xlr to 1/4” adapter for the transmitter, you can try swapping that out too in case it’s grounded

    There are many channels available to your router in the 2.4 GHz carrier frequency. Go into your router admin web app and change the channel. Try multiple channels until the interference goes away. You should not need to buy a new router. Be sure to test against all six channels used by the U4.

      He did that, setting the mixer router on channel 1 and the Xvive on channel 11. Didn't fix the problem. Most wifi routers today can run on 2.4 ghz or 5ghz frequency, so his actual solution was to run the mixer wifi router on 5ghz, separating it from the crowded 2.4ghz band the Xvive uses.

    Thanks for the great video and tips, definitely helped me get some initial issues hammered out.... I was just curious if anyone here has had any problem with connectivity between the TX and RX... The U4 worked great for 3 or 4 gigs and now the green light doesn't come on, on the Rx, meaning the units aren't paired anymore.... Anyone have a fix to get them paired back up? I sent an email to Xvive support with no response as of yet...

      I just started to have the same issue with mines. I can make the transmitter and the receiver get connected if both are like 40 centimeters or less. As soon as the distance gets more than that, they lose connection. So frustrating because I really like this gear.

    Thank you for the review. I noticed that there is no noise limiter, so what happen in case of a larsen or other harmful noise during a gig?

      I engage the limiter on the Aux out that I'm using on our mixer. I also don't set the receiver at full volume

    That looks more like the Soundcraft UI interface than the Berringer. Not sure if you are using the UI 16 but the UI 24 has built in 5 ghz wireless so it would not interfere with your in ear monitors

    Might be a stupid question, but i am a drummer that has a pad. Do you think I will be able to plug it in to my pad to remove the problem of interference?

    I ended up using a xlr cable and putting the U4 by my pedalboard. Keeps it away from the mixer. That solved the problems with interfering. I was killing a soundguys WiFi plugging it into the mixer directly. He was baffled as to why he was cut off. :)

    • @notgoon
      @notgoon 2 года назад +1

      can you expand on that a little? do you mean you ran an xlr cable from the mixer's monitor out all the way at front of house up to the stage?

    • @jaywansley
      @jaywansley Год назад

      I found this solution to be the ticket as well! I encounter issues if the transmitter is plugged directly into the monitor out of the mixer or even if I use an XLR cable but locate the transmitter too close to the mixer. But I find that if I use a 20' cable from the mixeer and locate the transmitter next to my pedal board, away from the mixer, I am golden

      Yeah I’ve actually found that it works best to use a cable on stage (could be the same that goes into wedge normally)
      But only really played small to mid-sized venues thus far
