I just got one of these kits and am super pleased with the sound I'm getting. That being said, I opted for different heads straight out of the box. On the rack and floor tom batters I went with Evans coated G1s, leaving the stock Remo UTs on the bottoms. On the kick I went with an Evans frosted EQ4 batter and left the stock Sonor head on the front, no hole. The snare (which many would consider to be the weak link in this kit) is actually pretty serviceable with an Evans coated G1 batter, an Evans 300 snare side, and some PureSound 13" 16 strand snare wires. So obviously I had to put a little more money into this thing to get it sounding better than it arrived. But I was looking for an early to mid-sixties kind of sound that would work well in a pop rock, R&B, blues or country setting and I think I got it. And all the appointments such as bass drum spurs, tom/cymbal holder, lugs, shell wrap, etc. are what you'd expect from the Sonor brand.
@SnOOze Hi dear friend, thanks for the suggestion :) actually i'm really happy to find another person who is a fan of the 'mostly bop drums' . Actually i'm a subscriber since the beginning of The channel 'Mostly Bop drums'. You will find my comment on a lot of their videos. , my personal favorites videos from them are : Pdp concept maple bop kit/ Yamaha Stage Custom bop kit, Mapex Saturn lll bop , Mapex Orion, Sakae trilogy bop kit. Have an awesome day brother
The best sounding small kit in 40 years. Tell them a rock ape sent ya.
Those Evans Calftones are great on this kit. thanks for the demo I'm waiting for my Sonor Kit.

Great sounding kit and fantastic playing!!
Can I ask you between the Yamaha Stage custom birch bop kit and the Sonor Aqx bop kit which do you prefer? And in terms of versatility too. thanks
I don't know if it's too late, but you might be interested in a channel called "mostly bop drums" where they demoed both (along with many more kits).

Great demo...cool kit!
thanks!
real nice sounding kit ..
What notes were the toms tuned too for the high tuning?
I wouldn't skimp on quality and buy AQ2. Much better value for money than AQX.
