Awesome blast from the past. Used to watch this as a wee boy with my late parents. Life was simple back in them days. What a great show.
And suddenly my childhood is coming back to me. It's such a shame shows like this don't get made any more.
I remember this being on tv when I was a kid..the theme tune just came into my head again today after all these years.
This was mine & my mum's tv show & we played it at her funeral 6 years ago 🤗🤗🤗& it will be played at mine😇😇😇😇

That’s because often they employed real musicians to write the themes. These days it’s often an ‘off the shelf’ theme.
Yep, Minder, Only Fools n Horses, The A-Team, NightRider, Baywatch(lol), also cartoons like Thundercats, inspector Gadget, Gunmy Bears etc, all proper fun classics you'd b humming all day!

WHO ELSE AFTER REDISCOVERING THIS CLASSIC FOR THE FIRST TIME SINCE IT AIRED IN THE EARLY 90S, HAD 2 LISTEN TO IT AT LEAST 2 OR MORE TIMES? PERSONALLY PLAYED IT ABOUT 5 TIMES SINCE I DISCOVERED IT YESTERDAY, WHAT A TUNE! 🤗

it did feel much better back then and it also occurred to me just earlier today that chrildrens tv was definitely much better if like me you grew up with bagpuss and ivor the engine??? happiest days of our lives.
massive +1. you dont have to even go back to 80s but early part of last decade was bettet before folk started liveing there livrs through facebook instead of face to face socialiseing down the pub. not to mention the horror that is internet dateing

I liked him too but in all honesty he was NOT taken too soon. Everyone ultimately has responsibility for themselves and he drank excessively for decades.

What a totally great theme tune and video. I echo the sentiment that it is great to see a guy standing up for the greater good in these british series!Was very sorry to hear the actor died relatively young from alcohol abuse.He seemed very charismatic.....I guess we all hide demons within heyRIP Michael Elphick.....thank you for the memories

Jim Diamond from aged 16 played and sang with all the rock and rolls greats like Genesis, ACDC, Gerry Rafferty, wrote for top American rockers, lived with them in the sates, Billed with The Sensational Alex Harvey and countless other great bands back in the day, discovered by the legend Father of British Bluesman Alexis Korner.
Jims unique one off voice suited Rock and ballads, he became so much of peoples lives and memories a very loved musician all over Europe, The States, Britain and of course Scotland.
He did achieve greatness in his musical life backed by everything from rock bands to swing bands and full orchestra's and is greatly appreciated by the legends of music and by the common lad and lass in the street who actually knows what music and personality is actually about. Keep an eye out for the shadow of the horse in the moonlight night!!

By far the best theme song for any series ever made. This song was the reason me and mates went home to watch this ehrn it was on. Great series but it was the song that attracted you to it at least in you're youth days anyways.

Listening as a tribute to Jim Diamond - great singer passed far too young. Boon was a series and a half too.
A few years ago I made it my business to watch every episode from start to finish. They were all on the sky box.
I CAN REMEMBER WATCHING THIS ALWAYS LIKED IT. BUT I REALLY LOVE THE THEME SONG WHERE DOES THE YEARS GO.
Used to watch this on a Sunday night when i was 10 years old. Great show and great song.

Very true TV is nothing like the 80s 90s it's full of stupid chat shows, reality shows where celebs get more famous by acting stupid...the old drama, Sweeney, boon, minder, Howard's way, professionals, only fools, porridge, open all hours... that was TV as I remember 😁

True. They always show old TV series' like this in great big chunks so that they don't last the way they used to when you were a kid, but if they alternate them a bit more , like showing several over the course of a day then the series will last longer and they won't run out of content so quickly. It's a bit of a shame the old Bravo channel went bust or something coz they used to show a lot of old TV shows like these

I remember my Dad watching this downstairs whilst I was upstairs having gone to bed..
I used to ask him to turn up this soundtrack because I loved it.
I just heard it for the first time since I was a kid and it takes me back.
Dad passed away in 2019 and this makes me so nostalgic, happy and sad too.

Excellent TV show. I was allowed to stay up late and watch it with my mum, and Minder with dad. Good times. They filmed it in Derbyshire and I can remember seeing the film crew sometimes.

I used to love this show when I was younger, hard to believe it was around 86-92. I was 14 in 86.
I've been catching some re-runs on Sky telly and I have to admit we had some great TV drama back then, no mobile phones anywhere, haha.!
It prompted me to do a little web search on the show and I had totally forgot Michael had died in '02.

I was born in 1972 and left school in 1989 and it was the best time ever to be growing up. Technology had started to become more widely available and was actually enhancing our lives not like today where it's taken over our lives.
