    That Field Stock is used in the Mossberg Patriot Long Range Tactical. The Patriot doesn't come with a MDT magazine. It is a different brand.

    Caleb, consider covering and sealing that fibreglass insulation in the ceiling. All day long, tiny fibers could be falling into the air, and you might be breathing them in brother. You know how you're supposed to wear gloves when you handle the stuff? That's because it implants in your skin! Just imagine what it could be doing to your lungs.

      Glad to help! I expect they’ll probably start adding more inlets the the catalog for the field stock. The response seems to be very positive to it.

    KUDO'S for a great comparison video! The other thing that I liked was with the XRS... the feel was quite a bit more sturdy and fit like a glove being a left hand shooter shooting a RH chassis setup ( which utilized my whole life and accelerates my operation compared to being RHanded on a RH bolt gun... around a tenth and a half quicker than most of the competitors in my classes ).
    Fully enjoyed the info!
    Respectfully, Seth

      Thank you, and thanks for watching. Yeah, it definitely has a sturdier feel...for not a whole lot more money. The Field is still a great simple option to chunk out the garbage plastic most factories are shipping, lol.

    That disclaimer is not on the MDT Field Chassis page, but I assure you it has the exact same issue with metal mags. Howa 1500 in 6.5 Creedmoor, MDT Field Stock, Accuracy International metal AICS magazine. I thought it may have been related to the position of the shoulder on the 6.5 vs 308 and maybe the 308 would work - but this video cured me of that thought.
    What appears to happen is the base of the round is still being retained by the mag lips and it goes forward enough to pass the shoulder of the round below it, and the rim goes down, bullet goes up, bolt rams into the side of the case instead of driving it home.
    At the range, I short stroked it back - but not all the way back to pick up the next round - and it'd pop up out of there. I'm considering trimming the lips on the metal one to see if I can make it work but I might return it idk.

    • @calebwhiteknives
      @calebwhiteknives  4 месяца назад +1

      I’ll give that a try next time I’m at the range. Thank you! 🙏🏻

    • @notsure7874
      @notsure7874 4 месяца назад

      @@calebwhiteknivesWhen I say it rams into the side of the case - it does that but the angle prevents it from moving so the base is still held in by the feed lips, and it just gets stuck and won't move any more forward. I'm sure enough force would break something.

    • @calebwhiteknives

      It does feel a bit more substantial than the Field, but not as thick and blocky/heavy as a full aluminum chassis. Some of them can be a bit much.

    I'm curious what you have your scopes wrapped in. Is it Multicam camo wrap, or ....? Thanks for the comparison video. Just got a Mossberg Patriot LR Tactical with the MDT Field chassis. Loving it!

    • @calebwhiteknives
      @calebwhiteknives  5 месяцев назад +2

      Yes, I use multicam camo-wrap, or similar on most of my scopes and forearms...it's less destructive than painting a really expensive scope. And quicker sometimes. Although I usually end up painting them any way. It's also a quick way to get a camo job on them and keeps the cold off the hand on aluminum forearms when bumping around in the woods. I think I ordered it from CamoForm? Maybe? I'll look for the packaging and post it up.

    • @travismullenaux4871
      @travismullenaux4871 5 месяцев назад

      How does your wrap handle moisture? Does it get nasty when it gets wet via rain or snow? Am trying to decide between camo wrap, or vinyl wrap. Leaning towards the camo wrap.

    Not fussing man but i wish you would have shown the mloc construction on the feild stock. I believe the overmolded aluminum stops before the mloc so it just straight polymer. Something to consider if you are going to run a bipod on the field stock long term.

    • @calebwhiteknives
      @calebwhiteknives  5 месяцев назад

      I considered taking the whole thing apart and digging around; but my curiosity for getting the action together and scoped so I could get to the range overrode my curiosity about the mlok/aluminum situation in the handle. I don’t believe it goes very far; to your point, long-term bipod use may eventually distort it. Time will tell, but I rarely keep bipods on my rigs full time unless they’re dedicated bench guns.

      The metal magazines all perform more or less fine...it seems to be predominately the one polymer magazine shown. It's frustrating to be sure. I would say if MDT can address this issue, it'll make this stock a no-brainer.

      I get what your saying. But if my scope can’t take that…it isn’t gonna stand up to regular field use, or even more extreme duty situations. I’d rather know early in the shop than find out in the field.
