    This is my detailed review of the Lenovo Yoga 3 Pro, a new generation 13 inch 2-in-1 laptop built on Intel's Broadwell Y hardware platform, bundling the Intel Core M 5Y70 processor, 8 GB of RAM and a 256 GB SSD.
    The Yoga 3 Pro is expensive, looks very sleek, packs a nice screen, but at the same time feels under-powered, only lasts about 5-6 hours on a charge and starts at $1300. And that's a lot.
    Anyway, check out the written review of the Lenovo Yoga 3 Pro on Http://www.ultrabookre... for more details on this laptop and Intel's Core M platform.

    Good hybrid laptop but it seems Lenovo engineers didn't even bother testing it with real life use before shipping it. They said lets make it look good and then sell it without testing the performance and real life usage. Sad.

    Bloody expensive when it came out but bloody dame nicest looking laptop still as of 2023..!!
    If people wanted a full fledge laptop look else where. Those with average day to day task, the M core is more than enough.

    I got the i7 Lenovo Yoga Pro 2 for 950 with 256 SSD Hybrid, works perfect for school, honestly love it so far and the only thing I don't use is the tablet mode, but the stand mode is great for games, especially when you have a wireless keyboard and mouse you can play games like a mobile pc, with an average of roughly 40 fps in most average games like CS:GO, League of Legends, and Smite so far this thing works great as an low end gaming laptop, but thats all I was looking for anyways. If you're looking for a fast super light weight laptop for school and playing some games this laptop is a great deal, i got mine at Best Buy for 950 :) also the 3200x1800 resolution is insanely nice... I have a triple monitor setup 1920x1080x3 on my gaming pc and I can defiantly tell the difference and find myself watching movies and netflix on my laptop much more now.. Hope this comment helped

    This is a great review! Can you have another review when it's release, I am considering between the yoga pro 2 and 3. If the yoga pro 3 still has these problems, I may have to buy the yoga pro 2.

    Fantastic review, very informative yet short. I have to confess I was tempted to buy this laptop but after watching your review I'll have to go over the Surface Pro 3 again. Thank you and keep up the good work.

    It's a nice looking device. But I can't imagine that at this thickness, you could replace much of anything inside. Correct me if I'm wrong.

    Could you do a review on the Lenovo Y50 ?
    Also compare the Lenovo Y50 with the Asus G551jk and give an idea of which one's better.....

    that hinge does sound annoying, but it looks so nice. i dont like the big bezels at the bottom and that big gap between the screen and the keyboard. btw what is the cpu equivalence of this for haswell? it seems really weak for a thousand dollar laptop...

    • @ubrcom
      @ubrcom  9 лет назад

      TheAznPhil This seems to be slower than a Core i3 Haswell Y processor, but I'll have to test a few other Core M platform before I could draw any conclusions. This particular unit might be flawed.

    Wait, I thought this was fanless? (Or was that just your journalist model?)
    Also, no dedicated function keys. wtf? This laptop is 2k.
    The bezel is still phat as crap!

    Superb IPS screen and resolution, but too bad about all the other flaws. If only Lenovo would slap a similar display on their Thinkpads.

    • @SirMango

      ***** I do agree that scaling is hit and miss on Windows. What grinds my gear is that you have these small smartphones, 5.0", that benefit from a 1080p screen yet 1366x768 is still the standard resolution on a 15.6" laptop, which is an atrocious resolution to handle for multitasking and anything really. I would perhaps not go for QHD like on the Yoga Pro 3, but like you say 1080p or 1440p would be a start. An IPS panel wouldn't be too bad either, but many aren't anti-glare unless you're willing to cash out a lot on a non-touch business laptop.

    Too much throttling caused unnecessary slimming down. I hope MS keeps the next surface around 8-9 mm and focuses on cooling and a large battery.

  • @sdbnsdgfg
    @sdbnsdgfg 9 лет назад

    This is way off, every other reviewer so far who's tested it got between 8 and 9 hours of battery life. The new processor isn't aiming to increase performance, but rather energy efficiency.

    Dealing with the small buttons and the lack of adjusting screen resolution to a proper permanent adjustment for screens with higher resolution is what made me kick windows away and only use linux and macOSX.
    I wonder if windows will ever fix this

      I have the same question, Also if there are any other similar ultra books in other brands. from what I read so fare I think either I go for Yoga 2 pro i7 or wait for another Yoga update..

      core m cpu is bit more powerful then i5 but less powerful then i7. you can call it i6

    • @chaitanyabreed8149
      @chaitanyabreed8149 9 лет назад

      and if you read that core m have intel hd5300. but it is actually same powerful as hd4400 but it has just a bit more power and 4k gaming support. you can play 4k games but remember it is not powerful as hd5000.

    Agree with you, The keyboard is not acceptable. Why no F1 to F12 keys? Why place it in the middle of the panel instead of the top. Every time I type, my hand is placing on the table is stead of the laptop because the keyboard is way too low.

    I love my YP2 and I think those new hinges look ugly. Imagine how much junk will get in between those links? They also rattle. Not impressed at all.

    LOL seems like it's experienced the same issues as the Surface 2>3. Cpu has better themal limits but the fans and throttling levels were reduced. On paper it's faster but throttling seems to make it slower overall

    great review. its 2014 and it seems no oem partner can make an acceptable keyboard and touch pad. And there is no discernable path of progress.

    Very disappointing about the gaming aspect. The Yoga Pro 2 was able to play just about anything I could throw at it (within reason).

      Don't be disappointed This guy is an ARM hack. I can't wait for his Apple 8x *review. He won't test it the same . How can you test gaming on a screen that size . Get a real CoreM tablet with smaller screen and lower res for gaming . Put an Apple A8x threw test with similar Screen size and res. It won't perform either. I haven't got the Lenovo Yoga 3 test unit . What I do have is much better all around than this unit in so far as how its tested . Like for gaming . If I gaming testing I would not have open windows running in the background like this review. .

      Nemesis1ism Its the same Lenovo’s Yoga 3 Pro, 3.5 watt, poorly made tablet . Also you can tell a reviewer by the words he chooses. The Review you linked . The reviewer attacked the cpu rather than the poorly made Lenovo’s Yoga 3 Pro. Hell Anandtech USE to give fair reviews but that all stopped around 3 years ago . When he went Apple. His bias showed just as the slip he wears under his skirt shows. Where is Ananda today . Working for Apple . Legit reviews today is about the best hardware review site going today . Lets wait for a well made unit to be reviewed. My wife is getting iPad with the A8x. I am likely getting The best made unit I can buy with a 1080P screen . Not that junk screen on the lenovo. on a 10"screen 1080 p is all thats needed. Today to many people understand that if Core M is successful It may hurt Apple or NV or their favorite Arm product. When it comes to people being Honest in America today . I lol at the thought .of unbias americans . The only person I trust is my wife . I don't even trust my own children when it comes to critical thought. As I said I will wait for other product reviews. If others have the same results than and only than will I say Intel screwed up. Not until . These early reviews on Lenovo’s Yoga 3 Pro are poor results on a poorly made tablet. When I consider it has a fan and it still performs poorly thats tells me that its a poorly designed tablet. Its heat sink seems to be laughable considering it fas a fan inside. I will wait and see what others offer befor jumping ship

      @derkoekje 9 лет назад

      Nemesis1ism If you read the article you would see that it actually concurs with you. The first offering of Core M shouldn't be what defines it. And it could very well be the design issues from the Lenovo that's causing most of the issues. I just don't see what this has the do with Apple though, and that's because it's irrelevant.

    • @Nemesis1ism
      @Nemesis1ism 9 лет назад

      MaraudingMaster No the Apple comment is relavent. Same as mullins is relavent. We all read the discovery prereviews . Yet that was April 29 2014 and there are no Mullins tablets . According to those reviews Mullins should be a High end tablet . Unless the reviews were bogus because no power usage numbers were given . So it may not be a 4.5watt TDP . Intels preview of its own tablet like the discovery tablet was Really good it distroyed everything . and that is what I expect.
      Now Why is apple relavent ? Because I will Buy a core M tablet. My Wife will get The Ipad with A8x cpu . Just running a bench mark isn't good enough . I can control the results by Heating up the unit. so that its already hot . Than run benchmarks to create throttling . With both mine and my wifes Apple I can do a legit review with both systems running exactly the same benchmarks at the exact same time . Of course I will run a power virus befor I benchmark to heat both units up . Doing U tube videos showing both units at the same time there will be no doubtt how the test are run . Ananda really cheated on the Apple reviews always showing bench marks of a cooled down unit . Thats NOT real World! Its easy to munipulate benchmarks on these handheld units . If one has an agenda which 99% of reviewers have . They cann't be trusted.
