+Rob Chapman besides the douchebaggery prince's solo on the "Prince, Tom Petty, Steve Winwood, Jeff Lynne and others -- "While My Guitar Gently Weeps"" video is worth checking out
+Rob Chapman i always loved the bit in that hendrix video where he realises he's way out of tune and just laughs and looks right into the camera while tuning up again. so great
Rest in peace Jeff. Rob, the videos that you did with World Guitars increased my knowledge tremendously about the multitude of tonewoods and construction methods used in guitars. Who knows if I'd still be interested in guitar if it weren't for those videos. God bless and keep it going with the amazing work that you do!
"I'm doing some pentatonic...a little minor a little major...that's about as far as it goes... brrrlllrrlrlrlwiddleowwiddleowwiddleowweeee!!!" Bless Dimebag... he was irreplaceable.
Not everybody can play pentatonics like that. It's not just speed, it's tension and release, it's bending, it's conviction and attitude. If it were just speed, then everybody would be Dime, Martino or Wylde (just to name a few).
+TheTyler701 Man, in that video maybe. But he has a lot of slow solos and his playing was very influential. Not saying he is the best nor he is my favorite but he definitely deserves some respect.
One the most memorable guitar-related videos on RUclips for me is Steve Rothery playing the solo from "The Strange Engine". Melody, feedback control, smooth legato - he's definitely underrated.
My top 5 favorite guitarists: Number 5: Six years ago a father of a friend of mine pushed a guitar to my chest and said: "play it, you're up" while they were jamming. I didn't know anything about playing guitar, but he taught me some cool rythm and I needed to keep that up and it actually sounded like something. So that's my number 5, a friend's father. Never forget the ones close to you! Number 4: Have to say it, but Rob Chapman for enlighten the world teaching guitar is more than playing it. I've learned from him(you) that the teacher is responsible for a good connection between master and apprentice. Number 3: A friend of mine. Met him just three years and he's visually impared, it got him to play guitar my hearing everything. Not just that but he's the most musical person I've ever heard and learns every other instrument incredibly fast. It inspired me to close my eyes and feel the tone. Number 2: Tony Iommi. He nails the slow rythms and tells a story without the need to play uppaced. I learned from him that rythm is all about the story you want to tell and that excitement exists between the notes and not in the notes itself. My absolute number 1 guitarist is Randy Rhoads. Every time I hear his ominous and dark playstyle I get a chill over my body. He was a nice person, quite shy in real life. But on stage he exploded into a guitar god. You could feel how much playing guitar ment for him and from all the tunes ever to be written, his are the most appealing to me.
Roy Buchanan is another master technician. I love that his tone is just a tele cranked super loud. Jimi refused a guitar battle challenge from him cause he didn't want to lose. Thanks for he great videos.
Shawn Lane's performance of not again from his power licks vid is my favorite guitar video. It showed me why Guthrie, Paul Gilbert, Buckethead, Timmons, and many others looked up to Shawn and how their correct they are when saying his playing was not of this realm
Bob King and Gary Moore playing thrill is gone together is my number 1. The way they solo together is perfect and it was the first video I felt I had to transcribe myself
One video I've watched more times than I can count is Pantera playing the song Domination in Moscow in 1991. When Dimebag lays into that guitar starting around the 3 minute mark it gives me chills every single time.
Rob- love hearing that you love Mattias eklundh!!! such an underrated guitarist who is amazingly influential for so many people! thanks for the consistently awesome videos. You're the man chappers
Being a huge Satriani fan myself, it is cool to find two videos of him in the list. Amazing to find a video of him that I have never seen before (the Surfin clip). Awesome! Being from Sweden, it makes me proud to find two(!) Swedish guitarists in the list. Yngwie and IA are the two most innovative players since Hendrix and EVH in my opinion. Totally groundbreaking techniques and musicality beyond imagination from both of them. Their individual tonal identity is unmistakable and truly unique. Pretty cool coming from a small country like Sweden. Keep up the great and entertaining work with your RUclips channel. Big fan!!
The mention of Guthrie Govan just brings back memories of when he did work for a guitar magazine and had to transcribe 'Under a glass moon' by Dream Theater. Not only is this an insanely difficult tune but he did this while suffering from the flu. I watched the face of the guitarist in my band at the time, he was already wincing and cringing at the complex licks he was hearing and then we heard the imortal words 'and here's the tricky bit'. Evermore was he known as Guthrie 'here's the tricky bit' Govan.
Jerry Reed blows my mind. Jerry's Breakdown with Chet Atkins is just insane. You can see that even Chet is impressed by what Jerry can do with an old classical guitar. Also, Jerry looks like he is having so much fun, just messing around.
I think watching David Gilmour perform Comfortably Numb with Roger Walters at the O2 in London is just amazing (even though he gets the lyrics wrong lol). The song is powerful for me because of my heavy dependency on opiate painkillers due to a spinal injury I sustained back in 2007, but then when the solo starts I am able to forget about how shite my body feels and I honestly feel free while I drift away with the powerful music. There is a video of Jimi Hendrix where he is playing on a 12 string acoustic guitar. He fluffs the start up and you see how humble he is and then he plays and sings this really cool folky song. I love the sound of a 12 string and he really shows just how talented he was with different styles of guitar. The last one I want to add to my list is from when Nirvana did their MTV Unplugged session in New York. It's for the song Pennyroyal Tea and I think it is one of the best Nirvana songs and Kurt is singing and playing on his own for this and it just adds to the power of the song. It's sad to think that just a few months later he was found dead.
My first contact with an electric guitar was an Ibanez Gio starter pack that came with a vhs lesson of Andy Timmons. It started with him playing electric gypsy. It started and I was just mesmerized by his musicality and he is still my favorite player ever.
Great video. You get it all in this one. Rob's new grown up hair cut, his cool home, his beautiful guitars, cool guitar videos, monster licks, wah wah pedal. What else can one ask for?
I've not been aware of you for that long Rob but you're definitely on my its of top guitarists amongst some of the names you mentioned on this list, your idea of the collaboratively designed guitars is brilliant and you're making good waves in the industry. I hope to be making a purchase of one very soon. THANKYOU.
Rob, I absolutely love you, man. You are so full of light. I hope you and Nat are the happiest people in the history of anything. So my favorite guitar players in no particular order: Ace Frehley (KISS), Adrian Smith (Iron Maiden), Slash, EVH, Phil Collen (Def Leppard), Steve Vai ("For the Love God....Monstrous). In the next year, I feel like a Chapman ML-1 Norseman will be joining my menagerie of guitars. I love you, Chappers and wish you nothing but success.
seen that number 10 one before, i liked the bits when they were fluffy around waiting for each other. Joe doing his strings and says something about not usually having to do it.
it´s crazy how i imagined what my top 10 list would be at the beginning of the videos, and to see almost half of those videos in this list was mind blowing
My top videos, #1 man on the silver mountian, Rainbow for many reasons. It is just powerfull throughout. #2 Stevie Ray Vaughn live in Montreal, no words need be said about that one. #3 Zakk Wylde, with Ozzy in Black rain, reason less pinch harmonics straight shread. #4 Steve Vai live with the phil harmonic orchestra for the love of god, Absolutely the best playing i have ever seen. #5 Reabea Masad. With the captin showing off his new pedals, Bea is a incognito shreader, and has become one of my favorites of late. #6 Dorjes newest video. Rob, Bea simply awesome vid. Thats about it. Thanks rob. Your videos and choices are fantastic.
So hyped that you included my favourite video, fives at jamsentral! that one-take playthrough by guthrie made me put the guitar down. and pick it up again to become better. to me guthrie is the most inspiring living guitarist today!
No order. Dave mustaine, dimebag, stevie ray vaughn, George lynch, Eric Clapton, Zak wyld, James hettfeld, Jonny 5, Rob chapman, and the captin. that's hard to narrow it down to just 10. great video. keep rocking chappers love your videos.
hehe I love in that Yngwie vid how he picks a random strat out of his pile "Hmm, what's this one? Oh! This is one of the first stratocasters ever made.. *tosses it back into pile*"
In no particular order ... 1. Eric Johnson - " cliffs of dover" live on Austin City limits ( one of the GREATEST intro's to a song of all time! ) 2 The Drive Within - Antoine Dufour - Acoustic Guitar (So far removed it's like he's playing a different instrument ) *** The next two I won't pick a specific clip , watch ANYTHING and you'll understand 3. and 4. Lenny Breau and Shawn Lane ( touched by the hand of God) 5 Gutherie Govan - " Mr Guthrie with just left hand...MUST SEE !!! " ( he's better than I'll ever be even playing with one hand ! ) 6. Stevie Ray Vaughan - Best Guitar Player - Sound Check - What?! ( " Hi... I'm Stevie Ray , and I'm a guitar player ) 7. Jake E Lee Solo ( this clip itself is the reason I play a Charvel ) 8. Pierre Bensusan ' The Last Pint ' VRC0063 ( you want an idea for a " challenge " , chappers ? Duplicate the run at the end ! ) 9. Telecaster guitar virtuoso Danny Gatton WUSA-TV 1990 ( Brilliant guitarists, brilliant human being) 10. Paul Gilbert: scotland yro ( he's nineteen in this clip... NINE-FRICKIN-TEEN )
In no particular order: Steve Vai, Guthrie Govan, Eddie van Halen, Eric Johnson, Nuno Bettencourt, Al Di Meola, Mark Tremonti, Aaron Marshall, Jason Becker, Jimmy Page and ofcourse many more like Paul Gilbert, Gary Moore and Nick Johnston etc. Great video Rob!
I like what you said about Guthrie not just being an amazing guitarist, but an amazing musician. He's my favorite guitarist and I've already decided that if I ever meet him one day I'll tell him that I get the same feeling listening to him as I do listening to Mozart. His level of balance and clarity and intention is completely in tune with his range of expression. It's "perfect". Also (in my opinion) if Guthrie is Mozart, Steve Vai is Beethoven, Joe Satriani is Hayden :)
My top 10 Guitarists (and one keyboardist)are, in no particular order: Paul McCartney - lead guitar 'Drive My Car', musicianship/composer 'Eleanor Rigby', bass - everything Orianthi Panagaris and Steve Vai - guitar duet 'Highly Strung' Gearge Harrison - lead guitar 'I Don't Want To Spoil The Party' Steve Howe (Yes) - lead guitar 'Roundabout' Robert Fripp (King Crimson) - lead guitar '21st Century Schizoid Man' Andy McKee - guitar 'Drifting' Johann Bach - musicianship/keyboards 'Toccata and Fugue in D minor' Terry Kath (Chicago) - lead guitar 'I'm A Man' Paul Gilbert (Racer X) - lead guitar 'Technical Difficulties' Eddie Van Halen - lead guitar 'Running With The Devil' Many thanks, Rob!
Rob, Great compilation of musical talent, and that is just a fraction, we all know their are thousands more equally as impressive as these are, good job brother, I am a drummer but I play guitar as well, huge fan of you and Lee I own 6 guitars and 4 amps don't know what I would do if I couldn't play either, love you man! , I am 60 yrs. old but I tell everybody I am a twenty year old Metal Head in an old mans body!
+Mackanvafan All the guitarists in this video who were shredding can play with more "feel" than you can imagine. They were just shredding in these clips.
+Mackanvafan Well I guess it's a good thing we all have our own music collections and can listen to whatever we want isn't it? We can even choose which youtube channels we watch.
Guys.. It's his fcking opinion. He just said he didn't like the fast shredding. Not that he didn't like the players. And I completely agree with him. Go listen to jimmy Page or slash, these guys play relatively fast but there's a story behind it. It's not mindless playing. Hell even my guitar teacher agreed with my opinion. he's 63 yo and plays/listens anything from heavy metal to slow blues.
Georgia has to be one of the most beautiful examples of a Les Paul to ever exist! absolutely stunning and the hollow body gives it an unbelievable tone!;quite jealous i must say
I've seen that Dimebag video so many times. Watching Dimebag playing guitar, is like watching a dog chasing a ball. He just loves it. I don't think I've ever seen anyone, enjoy playing guitar more than Dimebag. And it comes through in his playing.
Also Mattias Eklundh I've been to 2 of his clinics and 3 Freak Kitchen concerts. That guy really loves what he does, which makes it fun to be a part of.
That Hendrix clip was also the first time I saw him on tv, I think it was the bbc series 'Sounds of the sixties', great memories :) an inspirational time for me!
Actually one of my favorite guitar videos has you in it but not playing. Its the one where you are watching Johnny Hilland play in amazement and stars in your eyes. Another one is B.B. King is hosting and playing together with Eric Clapton, and SRV and some others and one of them goes off on a little tangent and BB looks and says "Get'n a little greedy there". As for favorite guitarist, I like a ton but if I had to single one out it would be Phil Keaggy, he is not just fast or technical but also very musical... and fast and technical and innovative. Another fave is Vince Gill acting like a little school girl in front of his hero Chet Atkins, Classic.
+HalfManHalfDuck yeah that's one my favorite videos of all time, specially when gary starts to complete BB king leads and blends beatifully, their expressions while doing too.
got to say a video of Tosin Abasi Brendon Small Mike Kneally Satch and Vai all paying tribute to BBking was one of the best musical experiences to grace my eyes and ears
Rob I'll trade you both my guitars plus a finger from my left hand for that blue-ish ML you have at the beginning of the video... I was only five years old, back in 1983, when I listened a record of Led Zepp my dad had on the player. And there was Jimmy Page's solo in Since I've Been Loving You. I stood there and I made my dad play it over and over again until I burst into tears, begging him to buy me a guitar so I could make it sound like that and shake everyones heart like Jimmy did to mine. Damn, feels like it was only yesterday...
Of course too many to mention, but one of my favorite videos is of Jimmy Rosenberg. It's the first one that comes up when you type jimmy rosenberg in the search bar. Amazing Dutch gypsy jazz guitarplayer who was actually born with this amazing talent, there's also videos of him playing like crazy at 10 years old !
Satriani has always been a big influence on me too, my favourite guitarist ever since I've heard it from the first time in "Professor Sachtafunkilus" album. The jam with Vai and Satch is part of my playlist since it has been uploaded, basically! Expecially part 2, straight into my favourites :P so good to see other's people appreciating this particular performance so much! Cheers from Italy! Ps: Love your ML1
I could be in the worst mood ,the opposite mood of playing guitar, be it my hands hurt from carrying plywood all day or whatever , but it never fails that if I watch one of your vids I immediately want to get up and play .
Hey guys - don't forget this is my top 10 guitar videos, not my top 10 guitarists!
I know, some people just don't know how to read the video title... Rock on, chappers \m/
+Rob Chapman besides the douchebaggery prince's solo on the "Prince, Tom Petty, Steve Winwood, Jeff Lynne and others -- "While My Guitar Gently Weeps"" video is worth checking out
+Rob Chapman Rob what kind of strat is that exactly? its lovely
+Rob Chapman i always loved the bit in that hendrix video where he realises he's way out of tune and just laughs and looks right into the camera while tuning up again. so great
+Roo F Journey man custom shop post modern relic!
Surely No.1 is the Miku demonstration?
All the links to the videos are posted in the "Show More" Section - enjoy ;-)
+Rob Chapman Yes for Dimebag ! One of my favorite video as well :)
world keeps on turning is a great song
Rest in peace Jeff. Rob, the videos that you did with World Guitars increased my knowledge tremendously about the multitude of tonewoods and construction methods used in guitars. Who knows if I'd still be interested in guitar if it weren't for those videos. God bless and keep it going with the amazing work that you do!
look at my channel 🎸❤
Eric Johnson - Cliffs of Dover Live from Austin, TX
never looked at the guitar the same way after that
Ikr
his tone was unbelievable
Great comment! That performance is just amazing!
The Jeff Beck clip, phenomenal stuff
I hear by publicly tag Rabea Massaad, Rob Scallon, Jared Dines, and Fluff to do the same thing! :-)
They need to do it!
+Rob Chapman Yeah, youtube needs more videos about videos...
+nobodyhere The Top 10 RUclips Guitarists Top 10 Videos... brought to you by watchmojo.com
"I'm doing some pentatonic...a little minor a little major...that's about as far as it goes... brrrlllrrlrlrlwiddleowwiddleowwiddleowweeee!!!"
Bless Dimebag... he was irreplaceable.
Bro all he did was play fast!! Literally not a big deal at all. I dont understand.....
Liking to imagine Rob and I both watching Guthrie play Fives simultaneously in complete disbelief at how much more there will always be to learn.
The best guitar video ever is the Miku pedal demonstration xD
One the most memorable guitar-related videos on RUclips for me is Steve Rothery playing the solo from "The Strange Engine". Melody, feedback control, smooth legato - he's definitely underrated.
Rob's flawless transition here made my night 15:17
Purple Haze sounded absolutely amazing on that Strat Rob
It really did
My top 5 favorite guitarists:

Roy Buchanan is another master technician. I love that his tone is just a tele cranked super loud. Jimi refused a guitar battle challenge from him cause he didn't want to lose. Thanks for he great videos.
The lack of Paul Gilbert is disturbing. He has so many awesome VIDEOS.
+Martins Dakteris I just thought the same! *Check bro*
Shawn Lane's performance of not again from his power licks vid is my favorite guitar video. It showed me why Guthrie, Paul Gilbert, Buckethead, Timmons, and many others looked up to Shawn and how their correct they are when saying his playing was not of this realm
One of my absolute favorites is the intro to "Total Electric Guitar" with Eric Johnson. The changes between his lead and clean playing are fantastic
Comfortably Numb outro live - Pink Floyd, on the PULSE Concert DVD. Absolute stunning outro
you da real MVP
thats one of my favourites to its stunning
Thats right, best extension to the solo ever
Bob King and Gary Moore playing thrill is gone together is my number 1. The way they solo together is perfect and it was the first video I felt I had to transcribe myself
Rory Gallagher, Roy Buchanan and Gary Moore missing for me :D
bur great one!!!
One video I've watched more times than I can count is Pantera playing the song Domination in Moscow in 1991. When Dimebag lays into that guitar starting around the 3 minute mark it gives me chills every single time.

Rob-
love hearing that you love Mattias eklundh!!! such an underrated guitarist who is amazingly influential for so many people!
thanks for the consistently awesome videos. You're the man chappers
I like the fact that Rob owns his own guitar company but still gets excited about other makes too. Proper guitarist.
Marty Friedman on Rock Fujiyama had some of the best mashups I've ever heard!!
Really, enjoyed this Rob!!
Thank You!!
Jeff
In the sun, on my phone watching this video. You make my day once again Rob, thank you!
Being a huge Satriani fan myself, it is cool to find two videos of him in the list. Amazing to find a video of him that I have never seen before (the Surfin clip). Awesome!

I know almost all of these videos by heart.
Especially the one with Joe and Steve and the one with Dime.
I must have watched that a million times.

Rob, you were just as much fun watching as it was your 10 videos ;) thanks :)
Great video. You get it all in this one. Rob's new grown up hair cut, his cool home, his beautiful guitars, cool guitar videos, monster licks, wah wah pedal. What else can one ask for?
Solid Peter Green video! That man doesn't get enough credit anymore.
The green God!!!!!
My favourite guitarist is David Gilmour. Simplicity overloaded with "feel". That's what I like :)
I've not been aware of you for that long Rob but you're definitely on my its of top guitarists amongst some of the names you mentioned on this list, your idea of the collaboratively designed guitars is brilliant and you're making good waves in the industry. I am more impressed with Guthries absolute mastery of the english language.
Great video Rob. The zakk and Dime videos have been a couple of my personal favourite guitar videos for a while.
So hyped that you included my favourite video, fives at jamsentral! that one-take playthrough by guthrie made me put the guitar down. and pick it up again to become better. to me guthrie is the most inspiring living guitarist today!
Danny Gatton and Roy Buchanan. They made me weep in the corner since no one will ever touch their level of ability especially Danny Gattons.

Great video Rob!
Steve Vai is my #1 dude. At that point, isn't everyone else just #2? :P
Pink Floyd playing echoes from the live at Pompeii film. Completely changed my view on guitar playing and effects.
Enjoying every minute of this. Thanks Rob!
That last chapman guitar is beautiful! by far my favourite colour I've seen in the range!
I like what you said about Guthrie not just being an amazing guitarist, but an amazing musician. Wow that Peter Green video!!! Such John Lee Hooker vibe! Amazing!!

Sorry but all the videos with shredding and super sonic speed does nothing to me. I can't just hear the beauty of it.
+Mackanvafan You know, not all music is meant to be beautiful.
+Mackanvafan So ? Who cares, maybe I don't care for 75bpm blues ?
I'm not crying about it on RUclips.
Yngwie J. Malmsteen has got to be my all time favorite musician. He really opened up a door to a new world while I was first learning to play guitar
This is the best video you have ever done... and i've been watching since 09.
Georgia has to be one of the most beautiful examples of a Les Paul to ever exist! absolutely stunning and the hollow body gives it an unbelievable tone!;quite jealous i must say
Awesome!!!! Rob man...You are a top bloke and an amazing guitarist!!
Bless you mate!! x :-)
Very cool to see one of my favourite lesser known guitar players on this list! Mattias Eklundh rocks! :^)
I really like the guitar box storage above the kitchen cabinets!
Tons of fun. Thanks, especially, for the Jeff Beck clip. I knew he was great, but that's insane.
I consider myself extremely lucky to have seen Jeff Beck live, once in a lifetime experience.
Luv your playing, Chap. Enjoying it. Greetings from Connecticut USA.
You have some very beautiful guitars rob, I can't wait for new Dorje material. You, Rabea, Dave and Ben make amazing music together.
That peter green video honestly gave me goosebumps how have i never heard him before
That Hendrix clip was also the first time I saw him on tv, I think it was the bbc series 'Sounds of the sixties', great memories :) an inspirational time for me!
Randy, Randy, Randy!!! Great Video, Good Job!!! Thank You Sir!!
lmao @ the Yngwie clip where he just tosses the guitar into a giant pile of guitars on the ground.
Paco De Lucia, John Mclaughlin and Al Di Meola playing Mediterranean Sundance. Absolutely unreal performance.
Gary Moore jamming with BB King on Thrill Is Gone, all day
+HalfManHalfDuck yeah that's one my favorite videos of all time, specially when gary starts to complete BB king leads and blends beatifully, their expressions while doing too.
+HalfManHalfDuck Or any of the videos of Gary playing Parisian Walkways live
I 100% agree. there is so much magic in that video.
Jeff Beck - Guitar Shop...I used to listen to that all the time. Fantastic stuff.
Black Sabbath playing War Pigs in Paris 1970, it's just ridiculous.
Great list Rob!
got to say a video of Tosin Abasi Brendon Small Mike Kneally Satch and Vai all paying tribute to BBking was one of the best musical experiences to grace my eyes and ears
I love the "pile" of strats Yngwie has in that video...
that blue and fret board combination are my fav
That Les Paul...... 👌
Slash solo in Argentina 1992 is my favourite guitar video
Rob I'll trade you both my guitars plus a finger from my left hand for that blue-ish ML you have at the beginning of the video...
I was only five years old, back in 1983, when I listened a record of Led Zepp my dad had on the player. And there was Jimmy Page's solo in Since I've Been Loving You. I stood there and I made my dad play it over and over again until I burst into tears, begging him to buy me a guitar so I could make it sound like that and shake everyones heart like Jimmy did to mine.
Damn, feels like it was only yesterday...
I've come to really like Rick Graham a lot lately, inspiring guy. Thanks for the vids mate
Thanks for making that channel happen. Great idea!
i'm drooling over the chapman ghost frets with the bare knuckles!
The room in 11:14 has got to be a tiny pocket of sound engineers heaven!
Shawn Lane, Devin Townsend, Fred Frith, Phil Keaggy, Sonny Landreth, and Dimebag Darrell. Just interesting guitar players that inspire me personally.
Cmon Rob, no love for Killrbuckeye?? Arguably the king of RUclips guitar covers back in the day.
Mattias Eklundh from Freak Kitchen is probably the best guitar I've ever found on youtube
I concur with your brilliant analysis Chappers.
I love watching Buckethead play Jordan. Gets me every time.
+yarbgreat1 Blows me away that Buckethead isn't more popular than he is.
+Jshortca He's playing a show in Richmond, VA next Thursday. Got my ticket!!!! :)
+yarbgreat1 Nice!
I could be in the worst mood ,the opposite mood of playing guitar, be it my hands hurt from carrying plywood all day or whatever , but it never fails that if I watch one of your vids I immediately want to get up and play .
