If anyone’s heard Lars interviews lately he’s been keeping himself in shape and overcompensating. He’s killing it. Makes you think if we all took the shit out of our lives what we could be capable of. I know this isn’t a hard song but every live video he’s been absolutely killing it. Focus is key. Probably the best he’s played in 20 years.
Easily at his best in a very long time. Nothing necessarily ground breaking or ridiculously complex, just generally much cleaner and more concise in his playing. Fantastic to hear.

Doesn’t take a rocket scientist to hear that the imperfections and the off timings and shitty fills have been eliminated. Set lists have been wacky lately, he said he’s been way more focused, and coincidentally has been playing better than he has in a long time. Hard work beats talent when talent doesn’t work hard. I think he’s just trying.

I love when the band acknowledges this era. 96-01 the band was on fire live and the songs are beyond underrated. This one is a great rock tune, one of my favorites by them since it was released. James sounds AMAZING

James is the only one that seems to be getting better. Rob has always been solid. Kirk and Lars on the other hand... well they don't practice enough and it shows.
4:00 holy crap, and people say too much stuff about Lars, but look at that consistent double pedal right there, nothing too exaggerated, just perfectly fit for the song, and this guy has been on the road for more than 40 years, people tend to forget they are in their 60s and still kick ass when it comes to live performance.

I agree, although it is a matter of personal preference. James's vocal techniques have improved a lot over the years, he's a much better singer overall but many people still prefer his earlier vocals around the Black Album era.
@Angjo in my opinion, on load he lost his vocals, but you could tell he was still pushing out what was left of him at the time, especially on songs like king and bitch, then he sounded a lot cleaner on reload
@@astrea5849 Musically and technically he sounded better on Load than ever before. You could tell that he was taking lessons. We were just used to his "barking" style till "Justice...". His performance here is top notch.
The chorus of this song always gave me emotional chills. The melody, the design of the effects and simplicity. Brilliant.
I always wondered if Jason never left, was this the style they were going but had to reinvent themselves on st anger?
I loved Jason, though Robert is awesome too!

He's a talented singer, the mixing helps a lot so props to de sound engineer and I hear some pitch correction, he may be using it.

I used to listen to this song all the time when I was younger, never realized it was Metallica until I started getting into music a few years ago. Probably because I knew Metallica at that time for Sandman and Bells, not rock
The best live performance of this I’ve ever heard. James sounds so powerful and dialed in. He looks so healthy. Everyone is bringing it and seem to really be enjoying the challenges of this new tour.

@@GrandeJano the problem with I Disappear when it was released wasn't that the song wasn't liked, rather that it was the song that started the whole Napster drama. It was leaked early on Napster well before Mission Impossible 2 was released, which lead to the band discovering that their entire discography was available on there too.

YES!!! PLEASE keep this in the live rotation. This was the first Metallica song I ever heard, way back in my early pre-teens. I will remember it for the rest of my life. I walked into the office where my big brother was listening to music he had downloaded from Limewire ironically, and this song was blasting through the speakers. My mind went "WHAT IS THAT???". It was the coolest thing I had ever heard. That moment changed my life. From that day forward I went head first down the Metallica rabbit hole, bought every album, searched far and wide for any live video I could find, started playing guitar and discovered what loving music really feels like. I have gotten to see them 10 times since then. Metallica has been with me for every important part of my life after that day, and the love of their music that I now share with my brother has helped us create a friendship and bond that we wouldn't have had otherwise. Thank you Metallica, for changing my life for the better. I can't imagine my life without them. LOVE THIS! SOUNDS INCREDIBLE!!!!
The bass is so punchy in this recording. Credit to the sound engineer for the mix. James sounds as good as he did when first laying the track. One of Metallica's most underrated tracks. Love it.

Honestly i think this era of james' voice is my favourite and by far the best since the early to mid 90s. Was at the 2 Amsterdam shows and thought the same then too. Theyre all as good as ever lately. Cant wait for another 2 shows next year

Went to both gigs in Paris, the second night was the best i have ever seen Metallica and i have been going to their gigs for 20 years. Sound was amazing and James voice is so good right now. Big shout out to all the awesome French people i had the laugh with, France is savage!

This concert is something i would absolutely recommend to anyone, i came there without being a huge fan just to get the experience and left absolutely impressed by these guys. They certainly know what they are doing and woah with their age and everything! Also the idea of offering two evenings with a different setlist, how cool is that? I’m so glad i went! Absolutely insane
